Mt Fuji

We went on June 25th for a birthday dinner. It was a disaster! They couldn't get us drinks and when they finally brought them, they were wrong. They finally (almost 15 mins later) brought new drinks and promptly spilled them on the grill. When we got the next set of drinks, dinner was nearly over. They wanted to bring us a free dessert for the birthday girl but the cooks ""forgot"" to take the ice cream out of the freezer bag before deep frying it for the ""fried ice cream"" so when she stuck her fork into the dessert she came up with a plastic bag full of nearly thawed ice cream. Happy Birthday to her! They didn't offer even a free drink after being shown what they had done and barely apologized. I hope this place goes out of business soon. I wrote a review for this place back in 2007 raving about how excellent their food was, now I'm back in 2010 to tell a different story. My boyfriend and I had a date night that brought us to Mt. Fuji. I love to sit at the sushi bar and he is still learning what he likes in the world of sushi - so we are seated at the sushi bar. His plate is dirty... the first in many steps of disappointment. In short, because I could be here for awhile otherwise, our service was awful! The server brought us drinks of our neighbors, then brought the things we asked for to someone else. We order our sushi and enjoy a large plate of several things, all very bland and lacking in flavor. Our large plate sits in front of us for quite some time, which is something I've never experienced in a sushi restaurant, so long in fact that we had to stack our new sushi plate on top of it after ordering a few more rolls. The plates remained until we walked out the door. A couple was seated next to us and in the middle of placing their order the server walked away to tend to someone else. Our other neighbors were brought a dirty wine glass which was replaced with a chipped wine glass with something floating in it. The restroom looked very dirty and unkept. The large stall door was unattached and laying in the middle of the floor. I feel like this place is becoming run down. I try my best to be fair and not judge on one experience, but it's fair to say I will not be going to back Mount Fuji ever. If I want sushi in Maple Grove, I will head to Bennihana. The resturant looks very nice, the decor very pleasing, and the service is good. Ultimately, the problem I have with this place is the taste. I orderd the Sushi Deluxe which came with lots of nigiri. I've had wonderful tasting nigiri at Kikugawa and Sakura and this just can't compete. The sushi is missing a lot of flavor and the miso soup tasted like water. This is a worthwhile spot in Maple Grove and offers up delicious food quickly with attentive service. My sushi was fresh and delicious. The gyoza was so great that we ordered another round. I really think this is one of the better sushi establishements in town. I wish the space were less sterile and cliche but I'm don't really care about that. Also, I think they should have more rolls or change up for HH specials. Pros: Sushi, Gyoza, Quick/Attentive Service Cons: ?, the soy was extremely salty, need more happy hour deals more
