I took my dog here because they had the earliest opening and were nearby. First off, the front desk staff are totally rude and unhelpful. They snap at you, clearly don't care abou...

Unkind and smelly 10/20/2007

As soon as I entered, I was smacked in the face with the smell of uncleanliness, the pores of the walls and floors embedded with the stink of animal fur and secretions. This is like walking into a retirement home and it smelling like urine.\r My docile cat had, what I thought, was an abscess under his chin. I had explained what was the problem with my cat, in detail, to the receptionist.\r Then I did it in the stinky examining room with the vet technician. I explained, for the second time, in detail, the problem with my cat. He weighed my cat and took his temperature.\r Then the doctor (Wilkerson) came in and proceeded to ask me questions that demonstrated he had not communicated (or, perhaps, simply listened?) AT ALL with his tech. For the THIRD TIME, IN DETAIL, I explained the problem with my cat. He looked at my cat and said it looked like some kind of skin condition. ""Is that all,"" I queried worryingly? ""It's not an abscess?"" The doctor roughly squeezed my cat's chin, who whimpered. The doctor said that maybe there was a pocket of pus (MAYBE?!?!?), and maybe they would explore with the cat knocked out.\r He walked out of the room and sent the unfriendly tech back in with papers for me to sign stating that I agreed to anesthesia for the cat. I asked the tech for what reason I they were using anesthesia - nothing had been explained to me!\r The tech looked at me blankly and said they were going to do suregery to probe my cat's chin.\r At this point, I followed my gut's instinct, and told the tech that we were going to leave and go elsewhere. The tech said ok.\r I told the people at the receptionist's desk what a poor experience it was and that nothing had been explained to me, to which they responded the vet was the only one on duty that day. (Irrelevant.)\r Please do not subject your animals to the unkindness of the employees and smelly facilities of the Mt Airy Animal Hospital. Pros: no waiting Cons: apathetic doctor/tech, stinky environment more

Excellent Pet Care 11/18/2005

This is a really good place to see a vet. I went there with a friend whose cat was sick and they were very kind and professional. We did not have to wait long and the vet came out and explained everything to my friend..what was wrong, what medicine to take and how to care for the cat afterwards. PROS: Fast professional service CONS: Somewhat expensive more

great place to board your pets 10/11/2005

Mt. Airy Animal Hospital is a really great place to board your pets or have them groomed. They have a really nice area for cats that is separated from the dogs. The dog area is air conditioned and there are plenty of runs. The dogs get a lot of exercise and are treated really well. Mt. Airy also offers professional grooming services. They know how to handle the pets and really get them in tip top shape. more

Awesome people and Dr Jones is great 10/5/2005

We have been taking our pomeranian to Mt Airy and the Andorra Clinic since we got her, and I have to say I love this place. The staff are so kind and experienced and love their clients. I always get the best service and they even advise me on whats best for my pet. Dr Jennifer Jones is awesome. She is caring and sweet and very good with any kind of dog, as I took our friends bulldog in once. PB loves coming there and I enjoy taking her. I have had a lot of issues with my dog, but she has been very well taken care off. Thanks for an awesome animal hospital and clinic I highly recommend this place. Pros: good hrs, nice ppl, good service Cons: not too close by, a little expensive more
