This place has their act together 4/21/2011

I just moved to the area and was nervous about taking my kitties to a new vet. Well, I was very pleasantly surprised at the gentle care provided by the Dr. and his entire staff at Mt. Airy Animal Hospital. This place has their act together. The facility is pleasantly decorated, clean; an efficient operation. We'll bring our new puppy to Dr. Wilkerson next year too! more

This place has been good to me 3/24/2011

This place has been good to me so far for vet care but especially for boarding. There's a very sweet tech who helped my dog through her intense separation anxiety the first time she was there. I was surprised at how incredibly happy my dog has been every time she's left boarding. She doesn't seem to have any negative associations with the place. I also like that they have an incredibly flexible cancellation policy for boarding--I've been able to cancel within 24 hours with no fees or problems. more

Office staff needs to be taught some manners! more

Bad service, poor records, high dollar 6/9/2010

I am so disappointed with this practice. I took my dog there for an ear infection and vaccinations and have had nothing but problems. I was kept waiting for 30 minutes as I waited for a tech to weigh my dog, evaluate the issue and wait for the doctor. I had to tell the tech an the doctor that I wanted my dog to get vaccines on that visit because I was unable to come back at in two months. The care the doctor provided was adequate but I was shocked when the bill came to $265.00!! They gave me three rx that cost over $100! After I checked online and at Target I discovered that they charged me three times what I would have paid had I gone to those places to get the prescription filled. The worst thing about the visit was that my dog got a rabies vaccine and I left the tag on the counter because there were several other dogs in the waiting room and I had to quickly pay and leave so there would not be an altercation involving my dog. I called back and told the receptionist that I left th more

Great vets! Great staff! Great prices! 10/31/2009

This hospital cares so much about their patients. They worked extremely hard every minute of every day without lunch breaks, dinner breaks or getting home on time to care for the animals of this community. When my dog died at home and I was out of town they were so sweet to my mother who brought him in. I was sent a heartfelt sympathy card - not to mention the wonderful care he received during his long life. I'm kind of confused by the negative comments made about this hospital. I have been coming here for years and have nothing but wonderful experiences here - even in sad times. more

Doctor Willkerson - Mt Airy Animal Hospital is great 9/27/2009

I have a 6 year old rescue cat named bear. He had a chronic illness that hit roughly every 6 months since he was two. I took him to several pet hospitals, and trauma centers could not diagnose. Over 2 years, he came very close to dying 3 times, requiring blood transfusions and drug regimens. Many tests and no answers. I remembers Mt. Airy Animal Hospital, my familys vet when i was growing up, and the same vet my sister uses for her dog. So i took him in to Mt. Airy, and saw Doctor Wilkerson. he listened to my cat's history, looked at the previous test results, ran a couple more and suggested a different diagnosis. He tried the new drugs and they worked. My cat bounced back immediately/ Turns out my cat had a chronic illness and he figured it out. He and the techs (Judy is my favorite)were were bright, caring professionals. My pets will always go here. more

Over-Priced, Under-Serviced - Your Pet Deserves Better! 9/6/2009

Well, I have to be honest and start with the one good experience I had. Our dog had a bad ear infection when we got him from the SPCA and several of the techs were very helpful in calming him in order to administer the ear drops. They also showed us the best way to hold him so we could do it at home ourselves. It was a lady with a short hair cut and glasses- super nice and another tech named Jackson I think. They were wonderful. However, it still cost us $130 for them to administer 2 drops (less than 10 seconds) to his ears for 5 days. Crazy!\r We also noticed that every time we went to get more frontline and heartworm medicine, the price continuously increased. I started asking for receipts every time and noticed there were different prices almost every time and sometimes up to a $6 difference from the last time. Very weird. But I continued to be patient because we love our dog and what he needs he gets. \r I began to get more frustrated when we noticed they had things incorrect on his more

I started asking for receipts every time and noticed there were different prices almost every time and sometimes up to a $6 difference from the last time. Very weird. But I continued to be patient because we love our dog and what he needs he gets. \r I began to get more frustrated when we noticed they had things incorrect on his paperwork. For instance they had HIM labeled as a FEMALE. They had some of his vaccines listed incorrectly, even his rabies vaccine! I called and brought documentation from the shelter to show the corrections that needed to be made. They continually dismissed me and said it would be taken care of.\r My last straw was yesterday. I brought our dog for a heartworm test($41) , annual exam ($50) and ear medicine ($36)= $127. So why was the bill suddenly $270 dollars when it was time to leave???!!!! I have never been so annoyed and angry in my life. I asked the receptionist for the bill to see how it suddenly came to almost 300 dollars. There were extra random charges for everything and stuff was included that I didn't even request. I'm like well what is included in the $50 medical exam? Apparently nothing! The receptionist was so rude and inconsiderate the entire time as I asked about the extra charges and explained to her that they gave him a rabies vaccine which he wasn't supposed to have until 2010!! I even had his rabies certificate with me to prove it. She said well there's really nothing I can do they've already given him the ""rabies vaccine today."" I was so angry. So they wanted me to pay for their mistake that they entered on his paperwork and never corrected, even though I called several times and even told her that morning about the correction that needed to be made to his paperwork. I asked her if the bill could be paid in installments as the bill she gave me clearly showed payments and balance lines which says to me that they do take payment installments. She told me ""No, we need the full bill paid today."" I only had $230 dollars on me at the time, as I wasn't expecting to be paying over $130 for the appt., so I had to have them take off some of the medicines in order to pay the bill! It was the worst experience I have ever had. Then when I get out to my car with my dog ,about to pull out the parking lot, the receptionist and doctor are asking me to come back in to figure out how to rework the bill again because the doctor really wanted me to get the ear medicine. They still never bothered to apologize for giving him the rabies vaccine too early, nor did they remove it from the bill. I am searching for another vet as I type this review. I will not waste my gas money to drive all the way from Bensalem to go to a place that tries to scam its customers.\r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r \r Pros: Several good techs that actually care Cons: Over priced, bad customer service, questionable expertise more

Maybe Once Was Good But Not Now 8/24/2009

We selected this boarding facility and vet based on my cat vet's recommendation. Sadly, I should have asked around more. After our initial vet visit, we decided to use their boarding service. When we went to pick him up after boarding, the front desk had to call the boarding facility three times to tell them to bring our dog to us. We could tell he lost weight during his stay as soon as we saw him. He was limping as we walked to our car. In the next few days, he developed diarrhea and vomiting. We notified the hospital who told us to bring him in to be evaluated to determine whether his injury and illness was the result of the stay. When we went to our appointment, they did not have any records from our previous vet visit, no record of our phone calls about the dog's injury and illness, and they had not scheduled us to see a vet. They reran tests that they had run previously and charged us for everything. A few days later, a large red cyst appeared on our dog's foot. If the vet had act more

Incompetent vet care 5/28/2008

Over the span of 3 months, my husband and I took our boston terrier to see the vets at Mt Airy Animal Hospital 3 different times and the only results seen were fewer $$ in our bank account. Our dog presented with what we thought to be somekind of fungus. The vet couldn't decide whether it was a fungal infection or bacterial skin infection which was not the issue. The issue was that the vet didn't start with one or the other but prescribed meds to take care of both. The only problem with this was that the meds pretty much cancelled each other out. We didn't learn this until some $500 later after we decided to have another vet take a look since the problem was not going away. The new vet was able to diagnosis the problem right away and administer the right meds. Thanks for nothing Mt Airy Animal Hospital! more

Mt Airy Animal Hospital is great! 4/1/2008

I have been taking my cats and my dog to Mt Airy Animal Hospital for at least 6 years. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I can always call to ask a question about the care of my animals.Dr Lauderdale treated my dog Brandy for an ear infection that another vet could never clear up. She was able to get the infection under control right away. She is an excellent vet.I feel confident boarding my animals there also.\r When Brandy was 12 years old, she became unable to walk. \r The staff helped me carry her into the hospital. She was humanely euthanized at the Mt Airy Animal Hospital, and they were so kind and caring towards me and my dog. They even sent me a very nice sympathy card. I would highly recommend them. LDennis Pros: Convenient Parking, Nice waiting room Cons: a little pricey more

Excellent animal care, great veterinarians and vet techs 3/28/2008

We have been going to Mt. Airy Animal Hospital for years and love the vets, staff, and clinic. WE love Dr. Jones, she had an excellent bed side manner and really cares about your animals. We take all of our cats to her. (and she has the cutest rescue pitbull she takes to work, so she knows about rescue dogs). Dr. WIlkerson is also very nice (especially with our rottweiler), as is Dr. slaymaker. They just got high tech digital x-rays and digital record keeping too - very cool. Simpyl put, they are the best vets and veterinary clinic in the area! Pros: caring staff, high tech facility Cons: a little expensive, but you get what you pay for more

To board or not to board! 2/22/2008

I have a 2y/o mixed terrier (Penny) who is a rescue dog from the SPCA.She was traumatized from something when I got her (either losing her old family or just being left alone in a cage...IE: the whole experience for her). I need to go away for one night and have never been away from her. She latched onto me from the minute I brought her home. I planned to board her at my own wonderful Vet's she would have to be there ALL weekend due to limited Saturday hours and no hours on Sunday. I couldn't handle that nor could Penny (I think). As a result, I looked into hiring a pet sitter for her to spend the night in my home with her (I also have a cat, BTW). That turned out to be sooo expensive ($200/27 hours!!).I called Andorra Animal Clinic. They came highly recommended by a neighbor who used their Vet. Inquiries about boarding Penny there have put my mind at ease. They have extended Saturday hours to meet my needs. The woman was extremely forthcoming about what the experience would entail for more

Kind, clean service - we love Dr. Jones! 11/29/2007

As a new puppy owner and slightly overprotective person, I've brought my dog in to see Dr. Jones several times. She is calm and attentive, and never makes me feel ridiculous for worrying about my pup. When we rescued him, he was flea-ridden, emaciated, and had a horrible case of kennel-cough - all of which were cured by Dr. Jones! Prices are reasonable, and they offer evening appointments - a plus if you work full-time! Pros: Evening appointments, caring veterinarians more

Competent Vet--Quality Care 11/25/2007

Dr. Wilkerson and his staff did an amazing job bringing new life into my cat. He needed major dental surgery so that he could eat again. Dr. Wilkerson and his team performed the surgery safely and skillfully. They also made sure the he was stabilized during the post-op period and made sure that I knew how to care for him once he came home. I highly recommend Dr. Wilkerson and Mount Airy Animal Hospital. Pros: Clean Office, Skilled Staff, Friendly Service more

Molly 11/8/2007

I've had Molly, my stubborn, yet adorable beagle for four years. I have never loved an animal more! Recently Molly stated to appear sluggish. I wasn't too concerned at first, but after close observation, noticed it became increasingly worse. I called Mount Airy Animal Hospital, and they told me to bring her right in. Dr. Wilkerson was the attending Vet, who examined Molly. After a thorough checkup, which included some lab work, Molly was given antibiotics for a kidney infection. After a follow-up by Dr. Wilkerson, Molly is back to her old self. As always, besides being professional, Dr. Wilkerson showed warmth, concern, and above else, knows his stuff. Thanks Dr. Wilkerson! more

My Rusty Cat 11/8/2007

I must say I never took my cat to the vet, until after my baby got into an animal fight one night out and got injured (slept, afraid to walk, didn't want to eat or drink) I called Dr. Wilkerson and he treated my cat as if she were his. Within a month of giving me the information, medicine, and follow-up needed - Rusty was back to normal. Since then he has been Rusty's vet to go to. \r \r I appreciative of the cleanliness of the facility, friendliness of the staff, and how they were able to answer any questions when I called and took Rusty in for her appointments. more

Mt. Airy Animal Hospital - great experience!! 11/8/2007

I have a wonderful cat and he's 11 with a heart murmur, he had a severe urinary infection whereby he was completely blocked and could not go in his box or anywhere. I took him to Mt. Airy hospital and he was seen by Dr. Wilkerson. I was crying because I didn't think he'd survive. They said they would have to put him out and use a cathiter but there was a danger because using the anesthesia because of the heart murmur. They put him on IV, put in cathiter, antibiotics. After 2 days he got better and told me to start using special food specifically for urinary infections because if he gets another one, it could be fatal. I owe Mt. Airy hospital and Dr. Wilkerson for saving my cat's life and I am very grateful for that. I would recommend this hospital and the staff, especially Dr. Wilkerson to anyone with a sick animal more

Great Care for my 4-legged Baby 11/7/2007

From the minute you walk into Mt Airy Animal Hospital you feel the energy and professionalism. You are treated as a client and your pet as a special patient. I was amazed at how well my labrador has taken to all the members of the Mt Airy staff! The vet techs crouch down to let her slobber on their faces and all the doctors treat her with respect and care. We have used Dr Wilkerson for years and my kids adore talking to him. He even made time out to come to my son's school and speak to the science class. I highly recommend this practice! Pros: Dr Wilkerson and the staff more
