Watch them shave the Lamb for you 11/30/2009

This is one of the best takeouts in the northend of Seattle. They are very nice and always have a smile to accompany the great food. Better then Broadways Mr. Gyro by far... more

not bad, but underwhelming 4/24/2008

The meat is delicious and the veggies are fresh. \r \r It's not too expensive, but not cheap either, especially considering that their portions are not really that big. \r \r The place is tiny and the link is confusing (are you waiting to order? are you waiting for food?). They don't take you money when you order, so you have to make an extra trip to the counter to pay when you are done, which takes even more of your time.\r \r The sitting space is limited, but cozy.\r \r In any case, I live and work in the neighborhood, so I go there every once in a while because of the location, but when I don't mind a bit of extra drive (or if I am coming from someplace else) I MUCH prefer Aladdin Gyrocery in the UDistrict -- their portions are bigger, their prices are lower, their food tastes better, and the whole ordering process is faster and simpler. Pros: fresh veggies, delicious meat Cons: confusing and slow ordering process, small portion for the price more

Best Gyros in Seattle! 2/1/2007

This is a very quiet, small, but extremely cozy spot with excellent food. The ingredients are fresh, the gyros was the best I've had in Seattle. I grew up in Chicago and have been trying for the past 5 years to find a sandwich even worthy of Chi-town, but nothing. From the pre-cut meat you get at most places to the as it is prepared carving you get at Mr. Gyros, there's a big difference. Get your sandwich with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes and all the wondeful mediterranean fixings or ask for it chicago-style just with Tzatziki, tomatoes, and onions. The hummus was quite good as well, and I look forward to trying the rest of the menu on subsequent visits. Will definitely be back, higly recommended.\r \r Also, the owner's are great, very cordial, they'll even sit and join you once they get to know you! Pros: Great food. more

Great sandwich shop - I wish I had gone in years ago! 1/9/2007

Mr. Gyros boasts the best gyro in Seattle. It's also one of the best of Seattle's secret little neighborhood sandwich joints.\r \r I am always greeted very warmly by the staff. I mean, distinctly so. After the second visit, I was treated like a regular! The place is very cozy - only about four tables - but they make the food very fast, so take-outs are a breeze. Good, cheap, delicious food made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, great music on the stereo, and they even have cans of Orange Crush in the fridge! The shawarma is _awesome_. I have to be honest - the first time I ordered it, I didn't even know what it was made of (I'm really a farm boy), but _man_ is that stuff tasty.\r \r Of course, the gyro itself is the reason to go there in the first place. Greenwood has turned into a sort of ""gyro-mad"" district of Seattle. For a while there you couldn't throw a brick without hitting a place that sold gyros. I think even the hobby shop was selling a gyro-based card-collecting game of some kind - but the tragedy of it all was that most of the places on Greenwood just sold you the terrible, greasy, Sysco-brand generic gyros like you get at the county fair in the middle of Nebraska.\r \r Mr. Gyros makes a vastly superior gyro sandwich. Really crunchy vegetables, really tasty meat, really good pita. Downright _regal_. If the Queen of England ate gyros, she'd order them from these guys. If you haven't been to this place yet, you have to check it out. Even if middle-eastern food isn't your thing - give them a try next time you feel like a burger or a taco. They will not disappoint.\r more

Good Food Served by Friendly Person! 7/15/2006

I've always been a fan of Mr. Gyro's. Fresh food takes a minute but if you call ahead it's all ready for you. The Chef's always willing to keep you company if you find yourself waiting a bit longer. Try the falafel. Pros: Great for to-do orders. Cons: Small location. more
