Moving Man

I would absolutely recommend Moving Man, Inc. They came ahead of the move and gave me an estimate and the final cost was actually just below the estimate! How often does that happen? They were very professional and so hard working (I lived on the 4th floor of a walk-up!) and I was just so pleased. They handled all my furniture beautifully- not a single scratch on anything. (my previous movers broke a marble end table and WAY overcharged me for the move) I was so nervous for this move but Moving Man made it very uneventful- which is a great thing! more

I have moved 5 or 6 times in 15 years and always used Moving Man. They are great for local moves and between state moves. Most recently I used them to move from NYC to MA and back to NYC and they were wonderful. On time and professional and I've never had a broken glass or scratch on anything. I also liked that on my recent move I had the same movers - it was nice to see a familiar face when I was moving back home from MA. I would use them again...but hopefully I won't need to move for a while :) more

I have now used Moving Man twice and they are excellent movers---friendly, arrive on time (or early!) and are very careful with all items. They're reliable, and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them. more

Can't say enough good things about this company, it's services and it's employees - from initial inquiry to estimate - to scheduling (and rescheduling) the move - and to the service on the moving date! Everyone was helpful, courteous, professional and compassionate. Some unexpected circumstances complicated our original plans but The Moving Man accommodated everything needed to get the job done. They were prepared and equipped for every contingency and the workers exuded competence and integrity. They were up front about the costs and provided detailed explanations and receipts. So - put aside the horror stories you have heard about movers - put your mind and pocketbook at ease and call The Moving Man! They really do care for the customers and their posessions and do an honest day's work for a reasonable fee. more

It seems nothing has changed in the excellent way they do business since the last review was posted three years ago. Moving is never easy, and you're committing a lot of money for a job that can't be redone. Lots of strange reviews out there, and a few psychotic moving company representatives. None of that with Moving Man, Inc. The move went very smoothly, and under-budget from what had been one of the lower bids. We found Moving Man Inc. by asking a mover with a good reputation near the destination for a recommendation. It was an interstate move so it was charged by the pound. I took a few heavier boxes on my pre-move trips, but even if I hadn't they'd have been close or under the estimate. On the morning of the move they came 40 minutes late, which was about perfect. They provided us the one last box we needed (the bill wasn't completely clear on the packing items, so I don't know if we paid for it explicitly.) Three men came and worked very efficiently as a team. Their English was excellent so communications worked well. On the delivery side it was the same driver (Miguel - I recommend him, I only assume other drivers are as good) with a different helper. There was a small lack of communication on delivery -- that's why I didn't go 5 stars. We'd indicated a flexibility on both pickup and delivery (helpful hint -- the extra week or half month's rent is well worth it, and I hope not moving on the last/first day of the month was reflected in the price or service.) We expected delivery on Saturday but found out in the early afternoon it would be Sunday. OK. Half the stuff was to go to a self storage that closed at 1pm on Sunday (that's why he didn't try to come late on Saturday, they close at 5pm then and he wasn't sure if he could make it.) It was probably unnecessary but I asked him to come to the new apartment first, before the self storage opened, opposite of how he'd planned and loaded for, but they worked around it fine. They were very cheerful on the unloading, and had no problem helping me with a few large items (a bed that was temporarily in the new apartment) outside the items they'd moved. They also didn't charge extra when I helped started rolling dollies -- after all the pre-move work and a day's rest I couldn't stand idle. They did give us the task of checking off the inventory as it came off the truck, which was reassuring and helped get things to the right places. (They created the inventory as they loaded, and many weeks after the move it has proven to be complete.)
