Movable Feast

We just had our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse (aka Audubon Society) this past Saturday, October 22nd. Ellen and Jackson were great from the very start. Prompt in replying and answering questions, and pros of the highest order in setting your worrying, anxious, wedding-planning minds at ease! It is very obvious that they have been in business for a long time, and know precisely what to expect, what will work and what will not, and were extremely patient when we changed our minds about various details. I really appreciated their honesty in telling us what they thought would be best for the type of reception we were aiming for. Now, on to the food! The food is really fantastic! It's a bit nerve-racking wondering how well a tasting for two people will translate to actually feeding 150+ guests, but it could not have been better! Many of our guests complimented the food, saying it was very tasty, looked lovely, and was good and hot (nothing worse than cold food on a chilly evening!). They provide quite a number of selections to choose from--everything from the hors d'oeurves to entrees to side dishes--and their wedding cakes are not only absolutely gorgeous, but taste delicious! The staff were friendly and helpful, and did not seem too put out by our rowdy guests. If you are looking for a caterer either at the Boathouse or elsewhere, you really can't go wrong with Movable Feast. Ellen and Jackson have been in business for over 30 years for good reason! more

We were married at the prospect park boathouse, and the place looked amazing. We could always reach Jackson and Ellen, and they worked out every detail that we asked of them. They put together a perfect evening, and we couldn't have been any happier. The food was absolutely delicious, and they accommodated every menu request that we made perfectly. Additionally, the tables looked beautiful, and having Jackson there on the day of was very reassuring. He was cool under pressure, and made sure everything was perfect without needing input from us. He even worked with the parks department to ensure that our guests would be able to get down to the venue easily with the huge snow storm that we had. Additionally, the staff was incredibly friendly. Because our wedding was on New Years eve, they could have been upset to be working, but our guests commented on how much they loved the servers, and my aunt is actually now facebook friends with a woman that was working that night! That is just an example of how great they were. We had an issue with our transportation not showing up to get us and guests out of the park, and Jackson went above and beyond to help us get out of the park. He did everything he could to ensure that the night wasn't ruined by a vendor that he had no control over. We will never forget what they did for us that night. more

We had our wedding in October at the Prospect Park Boathouse and as Movable Feast is the exclusive caterer we had no choice other than to go with them. Well how lucky were we?!! A great caterer for our wedding reception without having to spend hours looking!\r \r Ellen and Jackson are the driving force behind this family-run business and work so well together and with their customers. You can really sense the enjoyment and passion in all that they do. In the months leading up to the wedding Ellen was so responsive and helpful in answering our (many) questions, and when we met up a couple of weeks before the wedding we had a chance to discuss any outstanding issues and finalise some of the smaller details. Knowing that Ellen and Jackson were taking care of everything came as a huge relief.\r \r They have such a wide range of menu options; from hors d’oeuvres to entrees to desserts (we loved the Red Velvet wedding cake). Everything we requested was beautifully prepared and cooked; the only downside was that our guests ate most of the hors d’oeuvres before we had a chance to tuck in ourselves.\r \r The organisation of the ceremony and reception (we had both at the Boathouse) was great. Jackson was the main man on the ground and every last detail was covered, even down to the co-ordination with the DJ and the priest. The waiting staff were very courteous and unobtrusive, and the bar staff took care of everyone’s needs.\r \r We would have no hesitation in recommending Movable Feast for catering. They provide wonderful food, organised and delivered by a professional team, providing great value for money and the confidence you need on such a big day. \r more

I told them that I wanted my wedding at Angel Orensanz to be fun,and delicious but that I also wanted to honor the spirit of my grandmother., They went many steps further and actually cooked and served my grandma's recipes,so we had matzo ball soup for 200, as well as a chopped liver station. Everything was served so creatively and the hors d'oeuvres trays were mini works of art. I had spoken with 5 other caterers and they not only had the most delicious food, and most attentive service,but they also had the best price. My family lives out of town and they helped with hotels and limos and florists and were our local ""go to"" resource. You better not mention your budget when you call them and it better be over $110+ per person. Otherwise, they are not willing to work with you. They made an appointment with my future mother in law and they cancelled it the day before. With an attitude sort like ""Your event is beneath us, I don't think we are the right fit for you."" more

Our summer wedding was relaxed, elegant and better than I had ever hoped.\r The waiters and bar staff were so professional, they were there to help and serve when necessary and out of the way when we just wanted to dance and have fun.\r My family was so impressed and so were my colleagues from work.\r Fantastic! I recently hired The Movable feast for a very important business cocktail party.\r The food was delicious and was displayed with the most interesting garnishes.\r I was so impressed and would certainly use them for any other future catered events I will have. I used Movable feast catering many times for family functions. They pulled off such a wonderful, carefree event for us when my daughter was getting married. They sure know thier business and are excellent at remembering every little detail. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to be taken care of from start to finish.
