Beautiful gardens 9/23/2005

I haven't been here since before last year's hurricanes and the new renovation (now the parking lot is just as pretty as the inside!), but I do want to go back soon. My BF and I used to go there for picnic lunches--they have picnic tables near the front entrance as well benches throughout the gardens. After lunch we would stroll the grounds and, if we brought our camera, take pictures. Great photo ops. Throughout the year they offer classes and hold annual sales open to the public (often for a fee), but usually the grounds are open to the public and based on the honor system you can leave a donation at the entrance. more

beautiful 9/22/2005

We had a family portrait taken here one year. This is before the hurricanes in 2004. I've heard it's been renovated a lot since then. Anyway, there are a lot of beautiful plants and flowers and trees to stroll past as well as nice, quiet sitting areas. It doesn't cost anything to get in, but it's nice to leave a small donation to support them. more

Beautiful Gardens 8/17/2005

This is a really beautiful place where you can go take a stroll and learn a little about plants, flowers and trees. The picturesque landscaping makes for a nice backdrop for great photo ops. I haven't been there since before the hurricanes last year, but from what I understand, they are up and running and almost fully recovered. They don't charge admittance, but you can (and should... play nice!) leave a donation. They are always offering classes like flower arranging and such, so if you're interested in horticulture or just learning something new, this is a good place to start. more

A great Tropical garden 8/16/2005

Mounts Botanical Gardens has almost fully recovered from last years hurricanes. Mounts contains almost 2,000 tropical and sub tropical plants from many world continents. There are extensive walkways and secondary paths. And a pond containing fish, turtles and other wild life. Many horticultural classes are available at Mounts They have an excellent garden shop. If you want to take a romantic stroll with a loved one, this is the place for you. A 14 acre garden is always in bloom all year long more
