Review 11/27/2011
Mountain Run is VERY noisy. If you value your sleep, or just plain peaceful down time, don't move here. Because management began raising the rent (my increase was $55 on a 1 BR, 1 BA), the long-timers got the heck out of here. There were U-Hauls all over the parking lot, every weekend. So, now there's been more than a slight influx of little punks. You know the type... hanging out on the balconies and patios with their beer bottles, playing video games all day and all night (forget it if you work nights or work from home... their noise will be a constant annoyance and distraction).
Now, the little punks have these video games where they run and jump... all day and all night... because of course, these little punks don't seem to have jobs. And, of course, by the time you call ""courtesy patrol"" (a complete joke), they quiet down and then get right back at it after the patrol person leaves. The little punk next door to me, after I call courtesy patrol twice in one night, waited until 3 a.m. and then began to beat on the closet wall with some type of object and stomp around in his closet. I don't know what he was beating on the wall with, but it was LOUD and that tells you what type of little punk turds reside at Mountain Run. AND, courtesy patrol would have never caught that. He did it twice, each time lasting about 4 minutes, but certainly enough to wake the dead.
My little neighbor punk rattles my walls, floor, and the light fixture in the dining area swings on its chain.... daily. Trust me, you don't want to live with this, unless you're a punk too and all of this sounds like home.
So, what does management do when there is a problem? Nothing! Oh, wait... they lie to you. ""A"" will lie so much, I'm certain she couldn't find the truth with a flashlight and an extra pair of hands. We sent a letter, we didn't send a letter, we left a message, he didn't call back, I was the only one here and couldn't go over there. Whatever.
Pets are a big problem here. These people have no respect for where they live. So, don't walk in the grass and watch out for dog turds on your way to the car. And, watch out for the filthy baby diapers left in the grass. And, watch out for the fast food bags and fast food drink containers and beer bottles left all over the parking lot. Oh, and the chicken bones in the grass, which was the last straw for a former neighbor and she moved to The Enclave apartments on Osuna/Eubank. (The people over there are a little odd, but they're quiet. From what I understand, there is more than a foot of concrete between the units over there.)
Oh, value your privacy? Forget it at Mountain Run. These so-and-sos have the nerve to enter apartments without notice! Then, I caught one the Thursday before Thanksgiving telling my neighbor that he personally put up notices... I opened my door and told him, ""Absolutely NOT! No, you didn't. I am up and down these stairs all the time and there was not one notice on any of these doors!"" Lying a*ss. But, that's the standard of the day at Mountain Run. Lie. Bald faced lies. Also, they've entered my apartment more times over a 12 month period than ANY landlord ever entered my apartment in a 10 year TOTAL of dwelling in apartments in the city of Chicago.
Oh, and about that rent increase. I questioned it, and you know what I was told? ""It will cost you more to move than to just pay the increase."" No, it won't. Because I left most of my things in storage in my home state so that I could see what type of monkey business goes on with the apartment situation out here. For the price of this unit, they are outpacing the CHICAGO market!!! This is flipping ALBUQUERQUE!!! They get you in with the move-in special, but your increase will not be in nominal increments like most conscionable places. This place is unconscionable, all around.
My advice? Spend the few extra bucks for a better place. Your peace of mind deserves it.
