More than Stoves - Thumbs Down! 11/3/2011

My experience is very much the same - I purchased and had installed a pellet stove from More Than Stoves about three years ago. Replaced two igniters and now, with the current New Engalnd power outage, had a problem with the high temp cut off switch. - I would have been better off buying heating oil at $5.00 per gallon than spending as much as I did for this pellet stove disaster. Tried to call MTS for service and found they are now out of business. Are there rebates available ??? more

OUT OF BUSINESS 8/16/2011

I used to hire these folks to clean my two stoves for the past two years and a few years back they even installed a chimney flue ... actually to my satisfaction. Last week I tried to call them at both their phone numbers and via the web to see if they could come out and do a pre-winter cleaning of my pellet stoves. I did not get any response and the telephone lines appeared to not be in working order. So I sent an email to the (BBB) Better Business Bureau to see if they could find out what is going on with this business. Today I received a confirmation from the BBB that indeed this company is Out Of Business. From the BBB "" Thank you for your email regarding More Than Stoves, LLC. BBB checked into the matter and was informed by the business that yes it has closed. Sincerely, CT Better Business Bureau 94 South Turnpike Road Wallingford, CT 06492 more

Stay away! 10/9/2009

We purchased a pellet stove from this company 4 years ago. I have complained every season that I smell smoke when the stove is in use. Of course when they do come they fire up the stove and say, well, its always smells like smoke during the first fireup. HELLO I can leave on for days and I still smell smoke, especially upstairs. Last year I purchased 3 CO detectors in panic. I contacted the manufacturer of the stove and they said I should definitely not be smelling smoke, to check the connections. More than Stoves comes back out again and tells me that the chimney pipes and cap were not installed properly and that he has never seen such a thing. He (in front of me) calls the owner and he says ""don't tell her that"" I could hear him say that and even the tech had told me that after as well. He did what the owner told him to do, caulk all around the cap and hopefully this will resolve the issue. NOT. I turned the stove on for the first time this season earlier in the week and I still smell smoke. \r \r I am at a loss. With the rebates being offered, I am wondering if now would be a good time to replace even though there is technically nothing wrong with the stove itself. DEFINITELY NOT FROM MORE THAN STOVES!\r \r Cons: lies more
