Ms. Randy and the loving Director Ms. Donna first bonded with our children and accommodated their needs and let them go at their own pace. For example, when they found out that my son loves to cook, they did more cooking with him. Things our nanny or other schools would not make time to do. Now the behavior problems (some call them normal toddler problems) have all but stopped. They are less frustrated when they try to express themselves or when they cannot have something. In short, their social skills have dramatically improved since coming here. Thank you.\r more

Ms Donna, the Director, exemplifies the Montessori experience, and welcomes our children daily. The lead teachers for our children, Ms Randy and Ms Violeta, are wonderful. They are kind, knowledgeable and smart, as are the other teachers at the school, like Ms Stephanie, Ms Erica, and Ms Kelly.\r more

My son is given individual attention according to his needs and I am always kept informed. He is spending up to 10 hours a day there at times and I feel very comfortable and confident that he is not only happy, but learning and laughing too.\r more

Matching the experience for my son is the overall cleanliness of the facility and professional behavior of the staff. The director, Donna, does a wonderful job organizing the weekly routines for the children, as well as bringing in extra-curricular activities like musicians, storytellers, characters, and a variety of other shows. I would say the biggest plus for me is that I do not feel like this is just a daycare facility for my son, it is like a second home.\r more

My wife and I placed our daughter at the new Annex of this school. The new location is 3840 Old Topanga Rd. We did so after much consideration of hiring a nanny, in-home day-cares and other larger day-cares similar to Montessori. We chose this one because we felt the Director (Donna) to be very informed and sensitive to our needs and because the facility and operations appeared excellent as well as warm, and caring to our child yet less crowded than other large centers, following the 3:1 ratio. Additionally, the facility is nicely colored. We have been there now for about one month and continue to be impressed by how loving the staff is to our child. The kids have opportunities to be outside, hear music, play and even at her young age receive great programming (e.g. outside musician/singer brought in on Thursdays). I would highly recommend this facility.\r more

My child is in attendance at the new school Montessori of Calabasas. He just LOVES it, the staff and amazing and attentive to all his needs and he cannot wait to get there in the mornings. He's extremely well cared for and I would recommend it to anyone. Classes are staring to get full, but I believe there's still a little room, so act fast and register your child now!\r more

Our children (ages 1 and 3) enjoy a very balanced curriculum, singing songs about peace around the world, drawing pictures of Martin Luther King, Jr, planting trees, playing on the jungle gym, dancing, learning Spanish, eating healthy food, learning about poets and artists... Since I can't do it all myself, I wouldn't entrust my children’s' safety and education/development to any other school.\r more

My son has been attending Montessori of Calabasas for about six months now. He is in the 2 year old program and absolutely loves it. Since attending the school he has improved on both his speaking ability and overall comprehension. When I pick him up after school he does not want to leave and is eager to show me all of the new projects he is working on. I sometimes feel so embarrassed.....he likes school better than home!\r more

""Our kids attend the other campus down the street...but we love this school too. \r It is so charming and has its own identity. The director is wonderful and they have got a wonderful staff. We seriously considered this school for our youngest but kept him at the other school because of convenience. However, if you are looking for a school for your kid I recommend that you tour this school as well before you make a decision because you may just fall in love with this place like my wife did.""\r more

If I could give more than five stars, I would. Montessori of Calabasas. After an extensive search, we chose this school because it was obvious that both our children were immediately comfortable and happy in this safe, loving environment.\r more

We love this school. Great program, wonderful teachers, clean and beautiful facility, fabulous play yard...what more can you ask for? We have had three children at this school and have been coming here for over 4 years. It's just perfect! We have toured other schools not just close by but within 10 miles from Calabasas...& honestly this is by far the best school for us. We also have at least 4 other families who live close to us who go to this school and they constantly discuss how their kids have progressed because of this Montessori school.\r more

Great School! Our boy and girl twins attend this little wonderful school. They are currently in the toddler program and will be moving to the 2-year old program in a few months. They came to the school as biters, hitters, tantrums, snatchers of toys from each other and other kids, and my son could not sit still for more than 30 seconds. Now the behavior problems (some call them normal toddler problems) have all but stopped. They are less frustrated when they try to express themselves or when they can not have something. In short, their social skills have dramatically improved. Just the other evening our daughter got up from the dinner table and walked her dinner plate over to me at the sink. I love that Montessori teaches them life skills and care as well as academics.\r more

Montessori of Calabasas follows the principle of all Montessori schools, which is to put an emphasis on individual learning for every student. Free thinking is encouraged from an early age and from the infant classrooms on up thru first grade. Students may stay from 6:30am to 6pm every night, offering flexible scheduling and after-school care where independent research is encouraged throughout the day. Such complex and advanced skills as simple Spanish are taught each day in an enrichment activity, giving kids a huge head start on what's to come! Students from Montessori have even been proven to ask more provocative questions, turn in work on time more, and adapt to changing situations better later in life, proving that the personal time given really does make a difference.\r more

Art is nothing to be afraid of!! Granted, I'm a Graphic Designer so my Son is around art 24/7. Thing is, he still comes home smiling every single day & with something new to teach ME. His new favorite thing this wk is walking around the house & calling out things by their Spanish names. Of course he stumbles a little but seriously, do you know of any 5 year olds that come from a strictly English speaking home that are comfortable enough to point out & identify objects in another language? I sure don't. Last wk he was obsessed with clay creatures & acting out stories with them. lol! I love this school so much, I'm bummed this is going to be his last year here.\r more

  • The Montessori classroom is a living room for children. Children select their work from among self-correcting materials displayed on open shelves; they are able to work in specific work areas choosing materials that are age appropriate and interesting to them. Over a period of time, the children develop into a "normalized community" working with high concentration and very few interruptions.

The Montessori classroom is a living room for children. Children select their work from among self-correcting materials displayed on open shelves; they are able to work in specific work areas choosing materials that are age appropriate and interesting to them. Over a period of time, the children develop into a "normalized community" working with high concentration and very few interruptions.

Normalization is the process whereby a child moves from being undisciplined to self-disciplined, from disordered to ordered, from distracted to focused, through work in their environment. The process occurs through repeated work with materials or "jobs" that captivate the child's attention. For some children this inner change may take place quite suddenly, leading into deep concentration.

In the Montessori classrooms we continue to encourage the children to master the skills that they have been working on and to challenge them with new materials that will fulfill their natural curiosity to learn. Repetition with the materials is how children master various tasks.

Montessori of Calabasas is committed to providing both a nurturing and academically enriched environment for your child. We are open year round from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our center accepts children from the age of six weeks through kindergarten/first grade
