Great shchool on the hill! 1/6/2010

This school offers extracurricular activities (spanish, music etc.) and the PTO also brings activities to enrich the students educational experience. Teachers are very helpful with potty training working with the parents when the time comes. All teacher are very attentive to both students and parents. I can't say enough about the friendliness of staff and administration. You owe it to your children to check this school in the hill and you will be pleasently surprised by its peaceful sorroundings and cleanliness. Pros: Qualified and caring teachers Cons: You will fall in love with the peaceful sorroundings more

Great place for my son! 12/9/2009

As a working parent, my son is at daycare pretty much all day. I drop him off around 7:30ish and I'm not able to pick him until 5:30. Of course, this brings on a lot of ""guilt"", but it's appeased by the fact that MSRPV provides such a happy, warm, and secure environment. Pros: individual attention, fun activities, great teachers more

School managed by owners who don't care about families. 12/8/2009

Long story short. The owners of this school also own the Montessori School of Manhattan Beach (2 campuses). 1. The owners were informed in 2010 that the property they lease from the city of RPV wasn't going to be renewed in 2011. They chose not to do anything or inform any of the parents until April 2011. The parents fought hard with the city to try to get the lease renewed, but the owners pulled out and decided to close the school. 2. The owners then gave the parents hope that the school will still be open in the summer (July and August) so the parents will have some time to look for a school that starts in the fall. Again, the owners decided not to offer summer school and left all the families scrambling to find a new school in a short amount of time. 3. In May, the owners decided to keep the school open for one extra week since summer school was cancelled, so the school would stay open until 6/30/11. 4. Guess what? The owners told all the parents on Monday, 6/20 that this is the last week of school, no childcare for all the families next week like they promised last month. Go sink or swim! There are numerous of us very disappointed parents who are now trying to take time off next week so we can stay home with our children. Do any of you readers think this is responsible behavior as childcare operators? Do you trust your children in the hands of people with this type of moral values? What a very sad way to end our experience here at Montessori School of RPV and Manhattan Beach. Pros: Caring Teachers, Spanish, Tennis, Gymnastics All Included more

This school has wonderful teachers and a great administrator 11/30/2009

Montessori School of RPV is a wonderful nurturing environment for my son to learn and grow. He started there in July and has learned to be more self- reliant and his vocabulary has flourished. We had just begun potty training when he started and the staff there was a great ally. All of the teachers are warm and inviting. And when I have a question they always take the time to answer it and normally will give me additional information later. This school has been a welcome change to my family and especially my son. I would definitely recommend it. Pros: Great learning environment, caring teachers, peaceful Cons: A bit of a drive, but worth it more

drastic decline in quality 8/20/2009

This used to be a great school until several drastic back-to-back changes. Count on frequent changes in classes and teachers with no warning to parents. There used to be a very low student:teacher ratio but recently they've decided to raise them. Ms. Janine, who started the school, is no longer there. I've personally heard of two families that were told not to come back if they had issues with the way the school was run. The teachers do try very hard but there is a lot of competition out there in this area and many other schools can offer your children much much more in terms of quality and care. Pros: great teachers and beautiful oceanview setting Cons: high turnover, frequent change, need-to-know communication more

Many Changes, School Going Downhill 10/7/2008

I had children at this school for 3 years, and had hoped to continue there. Unfortunately the owners of the school have made many changes, including letting some of the most beloved teachers go for business reasons, enlarging class sizes, and eliminating a full-time director position so that one of the teachers splits her time between this role and teaching. If you are considering this school, I would ask very detailed questions regarding teachers and class size. For the price, it is no longer worth it, in my view. Pros: nice grounds, associated with good Manhattan Beach school Cons: increased class size, problematic ownership, teacher turnove more
