On the big family weekend dad drank and got arrested, AGAIN. Mom was very mad. Mr. Mills has his voice mail system tell him if he gets a message nights and weekends. We had to stop mom from killing dad on their 40th. Mr. Mills only agreed to help if dad worked on his drinking. My dad actually listened has been invested in his soberity for months. Mom is years younger! Dad said that Mr. Mill "saw through my BS". I looked into him and found that Mr. Mills has college DEGREES in counseling. He worked with people with dads problem in the military, county jails and here in Monterey county. It was clear Mr. Mills knew just how to out-dad my dad; no one in the family could. Attorney Shawn Mills spent over an hour with my wife and I on the phone. His website; http://www.Monterey-Defender.com tells it all, it does not try to scare like other attorney websites, it informs. We needed legal information not to be scared; we already were. Although we interviewed other attorneys; a total of 4 lawyers gave us a total of 20 minutes to talk about our son, Mr. Mills gaves us 3 times that amount. Our check is in the mail. My kid screwed up. We found Mr. Mills at his new Pacific Grove office. He explained to my idiot kid about her legal rights and the good, bad and ugly of what might happen to her. She got a good result. Mr. Mills in response to how she got a good deal CLAIMED it was because she had good facts and a good attitude, not because he is all that and a bag of chips; he is humble is what I am trying to say. more

Good: I like the attorney Shawn Mills; he was a real person. He understood my problem and was able to talk to me like a normal person, not some stuck-up "real" lawyer. He likes to say that he is a social-worker with a license to practice law. He takes post dated checks.. Bad: He take only Cash, MC, Visa and payment plans with post dated checks. He WAS NOT able to take my Discover or America Express Cards.. Other: He really connected with me! The fact that I had to drive to Pacific Grove was worth the effort. His consults are free and tend to be complete. He has a great sense of humor! Made me feel easy and was able to work with parents who are really mad at me. He got them to back off. He will give you his cell # when you hire him, but is quicker at returning text and e-mails as opposed to phone voice messages left on his cell phone. Office phone is answered quickly.. more
