Hi. I got an Acura a few years ago and went looking for an independent mechanic since dealerships always seem to be so expensive. I found Modesti's online and since they got a good rating I went in for an oil change. I had a few minor quirks with my car - it was used - like the rear view mirror didn't seem to dim properly at night, the light in the clock was out, stuff like that. So I asked for an esitmate. The estimate took them several hours and they seemed kind of pissed off when I didn't want to get the work done just then.
Next time I went in for an oil change I told them that I wanted to get the mirror replaced. When they called me several hours later to let me know the car was ready they hadn't done the mirror. They did send me a card in the mail asking me how my experience was. I filled it out but no one ever got back to me.
Next few times I went in I ffelt like I had to argue with them to do the work on my car, the light bulb, the mirror, like they still resented my not getting it done the first time. Maybe just me being oversensitive, but still.
Anyway, I got my oil changed at a dealership, which recommended some major work. I decided to price it out. So I called Modesti's, a place that says they specialize in Acura's. They said they'd call me back with an estimate. Three days later, still no call back. So I called them back. Danny, the service writer, the guy that I always deal with, said he had the estimate at his desk, which must be all of about 5 feet away from the front and that he'd call me as soon as he got back to his desk. He never called back and it's been more than a couple days.
I called another couple of independents. One doesn't specialize on Acura's but gave me a rough estimate which is very close to the estimate from the other place which does. Both of them gave me an estimate right then.
Pros: Honest, clean
Cons: Unresponsive and kind of weird
