I've known Diane a few years now. I've followed her from her previous employment and would follow her anywhere. She is the most knowledgeable, friendly and professional Esthetician that I've ever been to. I went to see her for a service a few days ago. I had to drive around for 20 minutes to find a meter to park at. The Valet was not there. I put two quarters in the meter. I could not relax and enjoy my time with her because I had to rush out to beat the meter. I have back problems and cannot move too fast. I had to have the girl run outside to stop the meter molly from tagging my car because I could not walk fast enough to get there myself. I go there just for Diane. I go to Diane for all my esthetic and waxing services. I wouldn't go to anyone else since she is a perfectionist. She is always friendly, pleasant and makes me feel comfortable. When I go to Moderne, I feel so welcome and part of the family. I'm glad I found that spa while surfing the internet. Thank you. Pros: spa, although I have yet to try the salon. I found the spa on City Search in October and decided to give it a try. started out with an anti-aging facial from Diane. She explained all the products to me and how they would benefit me. She was a wealth of knowledge on skin care and informed me of the most current procedures to the Esthetic world. She gave me the BEST facial I ever had and look forward to going back soon. She has a friendly and professional demeanor which made me feel very comfortable and relaxed.\r \r Next, I went to Carol. She gave me the most stylish haircut and color I have had in ten years. I felt like a new person and felt like I looked years younger. I didn't realize I was stuck in a rut until her transformation.\r \r The overall atmosphere was so inviting. The staff is very accommodating and fun to be around. They are like one big family. Even though I come from Boston, I feel like a very welcomed part of the Moderne family. As a person who just relocated and enjoys spa services I was impressed with Moderne's web site. That is when the quote, ""All is not what it seems "", came to mind. First they put me with a stylist Riz who was GREAT and experienced but only lasted for a couple of appointments and then was no longer there. With his recommendation I tried two different esteticians who also left. After that they offered other technicians but I was still unsatisfied. They advertised Valet parking but with my work schedule I was unable to utilize the service because it did not coincide with Salon hours. But instead my vehicle was ticketed outside the salon. The word is that this salon has a reputation for a large turn over since its opening as Moderne Salon. I would not recommend this salon because of its inconsistancy in staff. Diane is the best Esthetician and skin care specialist at Modern. I got my girlfriend to try her the same day and we were both tremendously satisfied. She gives the most thorough facials and her waxings are the most comfortable possible. Thank you Diane. We are glad we found MOderne on line and we'll definitely be back again. I recently received a telephone call from Moderne Salon telling my my hair stylist suddenly left without notice. They offered me a wonderful incentive to come in and try another stylist. Initially I found this to be odd that my stylist would leave without notice; I've known him for quite a while and it doesn't seem like something he would do. \r Two days after Moderne Salon's phone call I received a phone call from my stylist! I was elated that he contacted me. I asked him why he suddenly left without notice and found out he didn't leave without notice. He didn't really go into the details but from being a customer I always got the feeling that it wasn't a pleasant place to work. Turnover of employees was frequent and fast for such a small salon; you would think that being so small it would be like your own little family but I don't think that is the case. \r Needless to say, I will now be following my stylist which I adore and love and I choose never to go back to Moderne Salon because they were very dishonest with their explanation of what happed to my stylist. \r Honesty is always the best policy; I don't have time to play games. Funny thing is I live in downtown Providence and found Moderne Salon to be very convenient for all of my services such as manicures, pedicures, facial, and body massages....I will now be taking my business elsewhere.\r Be careful Moderne Salon - you have lots and lots of competition in downtown Providence and they would love to steal your customers! more

I recently paid a visit to the Moderne Salon and Spa after finding them on a website of one of the best product lines I have ever used...davines...\r \r I have to say that I couldn't have been happier with my sytlist - Riz - and the atmosphere in the salon. I worked in the beauty industry for a good portion of my career life and had grown accustomed to the pampering that comes along with working in the field. I recently decided to re-find that special place that I could turn to for all of my pampering needs: haircuts, waxing, facials, pedicures...I have found it! I have been to lots of salons and I finally found a fabulous salon. This is the best place so far. Everyone was friendly, very profession, courteous and hospitable. I had Riz who gave me exactly what I wanted. I have very fine thin hair and it's always been my issue with searching for hairdressers/stylist. Most do not know how to manage such hair even after they say they do. Riz not only gave me a gorgeous dark brown hair color,(exactly as I wanted) he gave me an amazing cut (again, exactly what I wanted.) and let me add, that while Riz was cutting my hair, he told me exactly what he was doing and explained how it would benefit my hair. He also gave me tips on how to dry my hair and what brushes would work. \r \r An amazing experience and I found it by using CitySearch. I recently received a gift certificate for the holidays and visited Moderne for the first time. I went with my daughter and we both agree that Moderne was the best experience we have had in a Day Spa anywhere in Providence! From the moment we walked in we were greeted very politely and respecfully. We both had our nails done, some waxing services, and then our hair cut and styled and immediately rebooked all 3 services! The entire staff was professional and extremely knowledgable and we felt very comfortable! Thanks to all. We will see you soon! more

I've been going to Moderne Salon since it opened and was actually a custom of the previous salon. When the salon became ""Moderne Salon"" there were not many changes at first but then all of a sudden the entire atomosphere changed from classy and sophistacted to extremely cold and uninviting....and I'm not just talking about the decor. Prices started to increase dramatically and I find it very hard to justify these changes that you would typically pay in a professional day spa. Moderne Salon is a tiny hole in the wall with limited services, not comfortable at all and is trying to create an image it obviously can't hold up to. I continue to go there because I adore my stylist and I wish my stylist would find a new location so I could again enjoy my trips to the salon/spa. Recently I was searching for a salon that I could enjoy a day of beauty. I came across Moderne Salon and Day Spa. This was definetly one of my greatest experiences in a salon. The staff at Moderne Salon are very accomadating. They made me feel right at home there. I left there feeling like a million bucks. I disagree wuth the last review. After trying out several Spa; in the Providence area, I found Moderne Salon to be the best. I have been going there for the last 6 months for hair and nails, and I find it to be the cleanest and friendliest Spa around. On several occassions I have been approached my the owner who is also very friendly and accomadating. They make sure you have the best experience possible. It's been so long since I've been able to find a haridresser that I can trust and enjoy going to. Carla at Moderne Salon and Spa gave me an in-depth consultation on my hair. She gave great tips from which products I should use, to how the cut will help me achieve long layers that I'm looking for. I received so many compliments on my hair and its finally healthy again. I love the laid-back atmosphere in the salon. It's comfortable and the people are all really professional and inviting. Joe, the owner, is one of the sweetest guys who really seems to have a grip on how to run his business. I would highly reommend this salon!!! My friend recommended that I try this place out. She goes there for her hair so I went with her last week. While she was getting her hair colored, I got a facial and a half hour massage. The facial was by far the best I have ever had, and my only regret was that I only got the half hour massage. It was great! The salon overall is very cool, a modern, up to date look and the staff was excellent. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has not been.
