Looove it~ 1/27/2012

We've been here several times over the last year or so, and we love it! Staff is all super friendly and the sushi is really good to the point where I crave it endlessly. If you hit it during happy hour (which lasts until about seven, I think?) the prices are definitely not bad at all. The sashimi always looks really awesome and the non-sushi food is really good as well. This is where my husband and I go when we want a really special treat. The only thing they could do better would be to offer dessert--mochi ice cream would be the absolute perfect way to end a meal at Mizumi! more

Best sushi in the Valley! 3/25/2010

I recently visited Mizumi because it had been recommended by a very picky friend. I was greeted at the door by the owner, with a very enthusiastic smile, and contagious laugh I might add. The décor is simple and inviting. The prices are very reasonable, compared to other sushi restaurants in the area and downtown as well. I ordered some sashimi – chefs discretion, and what a great choice! Absolutely divine! Fresh, and beautifully presented. It looked like a work of art. I had to take a picture of it before I ate it! I also enjoyed some of their signature rolls; the MJ was very nice as was the jalapeno roll. They will make it spicy if you like, or mellow if your more conservative on that point. I was pulled into engaging conversation by the sushi chefs, and the fellow diners at the sushi bar. There is plenty of seating, including an outdoor patio I will try in the spring. If you want to sit at the bar, there may be a short wait as this exquisite restaurant is becoming quite popular. An absolute must for sushi lovers across the valley! Pros: Fresh, friendly staff, plenty of seating more

Mouthwatering sushi with right at home service! 12/31/2009

Walking into Mizumi is liking walking into a friend’s house for dinner. The owners and staff are the friendliest I have come across. . From the time you walk in, you feel like you belong. There is always a very fun and social atmosphere at the sushi bar. I have met people there that travel from North Salt Lake to Provo that make this place a ‘regular’. The fish is fresh and leaves your mouth watering for more, not to mention the impeccable art of the sushi chef. If you crave a roll you don’t see on the menu, no worries, they will make up anything that you would desire, or inspire, with your favorite tastes. Come with an appetite, and expect a very friendly upbeat atmosphere – and yes, they will remember you when you come back! I am almost reluctant to tell others about this gem. I would prefer it to be Sandy’s best kept secret!. Pros: incredibel sushi, fabulous upbeat atmosphere more

Best sushi in Sandy 9/6/2008

I have been coming to Mizumi for years. Food is always excellent and service is above average. Their Tataki is Best in Utah always fresh and consistent. I crave their food when I am out of town and always the first place to visit when I am back in town..\r Parking is never a problem un-like down town places.\r It's not a trendy flashy place. It's very homey like cheers. They are always friendly and remebers you by your name and also what your likes and dis-likes are.\r their pokki salad, tataki, and mars roll are my favorites. the chefs will create anything that's not on the menu. their shizen is unique. deep fried rice patty with spicy tuna is creative and yummy.....\r I love Mizumi and I think they're the best....\r Good job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Awesome food and service more

I have became there regulars and miss and crave their food when I am out of town. I am definete fan of Mizumi.... Pros: large paking space, good service and food more

Horrible service and food 7/19/2008

Yesterday was my second experience at Mizumi and it was by far the worst experience at a restaurant I've had. I had returned to Mizumi for the second time because my first experience was so great. Our waitress (Jessica or Jennifer can't remember) was friendly and spoke perfect English, our sushi was great tasting and fresh, and our food came out very promptly. So my wife and I asked a few friends to join us for a great night out at Mizumi, which turned out to be utterly disappointing. Firstly our waitress (can't remember her name) couldn't speak English very well and to be honest, we couldn't understand what she was saying. My wife and I ordered sushi (which came out really late), and our friends ordered food from the kitchen. Not only was the order wrong, but the food tasted very bad. It was not authentic, too salty, very little meat for what it costs, and the tempura is the worst I have seen at any japanese restaurant. . When we tried to get our waitress' attention to complain about the food, she would rush off to another table, as if she hadn't seen us waving our hands in the air. I have no complaints for the sushi other than it takes a long time for it to come out. Mizumi needs to either learn from other restaurants how to cook their kitchen food or lower their prices for their poor tasting foods. They also need to get rid of that rude and hard to understand waitress.\r Pros: Good sushi Cons: Horrible kitchen food and service more

Fake Japanese Food 7/14/2008

The donburi was not a good representation of real Japanese donburi. The taste, look, everything was completely different. It was very dissapointing. We also got the karage which wasn't anything like the real thing. If aren't expecting real Japanese food this place might be okay, otherwise, stay away. Pros: Good location, friendly people Cons: expensive, not real Japanese food. more

Great fan of Mizumi and their food !!! 4/1/2008

If you haven't been to Mizumi you definetely need to go. My first visit to Mizumi I came with couple of my friends and sat at the sushi bar. Two former head chefs/ which I later found out will guide you and create amazing items off menu according to your taste bud. Mars roll and tataki is out of this world...\r Best price in town for sashimi portions and they are always fresh and yummy...\r They have a lot of regulars and seem to know each other. I can see why people refer this place as cheers of suhsi bar. I love this place and I can see why people keep on coming back for more.... Pros: great food and service more

Best Japanese food 3/13/2008

I am a die hard fan of Mizumi. Food is always excellent. Portion is always great. I've never left there hungry in 11 years that I've eaten there. Service is always prompt and freindly... Fish is the fresh and good quality...\r I would highly recommend Mizumi. Pros: Excellent quality food more

Terrible service and prices 2/26/2008

I came here with a few friends and it was not a pleasant experience. We waited for our food for longer than we should have and the food portions are a joke. It was overpriced, and we left still hungry and unsatisfied. Sushi was not the freshest I've seen in Utah. more

Best japanese food in salt lake 11/19/2007

Best japanese food in town. Quality of food is always outstanding. All the regulars call this place ""Cheers of Japanese restaurant"". Informal and frendly environment. Sushi is always fresh and tasty. Two former head chefs in one restaurant are always creating new sushi rolls. You have to try the ""ecstasy roll, tataki and snap dragon roll"". Pros: fresh sushi, good service, and ambience more

Great! 10/24/2005

This is a wonderful place to eat! The service can't be beat, and the food is fantastic. The server always remembers us, and knows what we want when we sit down. If you want good food, service, and to feel comfortable while eating go here! Pros: everything more

This is a great place. Ask the sushi chef to creat something different for you. Their seafood is fresh daily and the atmosphere is very low key and laid back. You are not rushed at all. more

VERY IMPRESSED 12/9/2004

I started dining there about one year ago and now addicted to the creative and very fresh sushi and tasty appetizers(ask for the real wasabi not the powder). The atmospere is cozy and not so commercial or franchise like many sushi bars in the valley. The staff is friendly and prices are affordable too. I highly recomend mizumi to anyone. I am now a weekly customer there. Pros: fresh seafood, cozy, affordable Cons: , closed for lunch more

pechchelli 11/9/2004

Sushi is above average, never a wait and it's not all the way downtown, if your looking for a quiet and close place to get a good sushi dinner check it out, we've never been unsatisfied! Pros: inexpensive, never a wait more

Nice, not too ""Downtown"" 2/1/2003

First time there. I'm just trying to get into sushi. Nice atmosphere, good service. The bar only seats about 8, so I sat at a table. Enjoyable dining and friendly staff. Pros: Location, Parking Cons: Small sushi bar more
