Best Sushi in Town! 8/19/2010

This is some of the best sushi I've had anywhere. I lived in Harrisburg for 20 years before leaving town - fortunately for me, my parents still live there. Every time I am home to visit my parents, I make sure Miyako makes the list. \r \r I've lived in Philadelphia and Raleigh and have travelled all over the place - Miyako is definitely in the top 3 sushi places I've been and their Jungle Roll is arguably the best I've had. \r \r I would suggest: Valentine Roll, Tropical Eel, Mexican (weird with Salsa, but give it a try!), and Jungle (best on the menu and one of the cheapest - $6-$7!)\r \r If you're an advanced sushi eater and like the more exotic rolls, this is no doubt one of the best places you'll find. If you're more in for spicy tuna and california rolls, they are good here as well - but I would suggest expanding your horizons, and make Miyako the place to do it!\r \r The wait staff is not the most talkative, but very friendly. ""Andy"" even suggests the items that I forget to order every time I'm there! \r \r Make sure to tip the Sushi Chefs on your way out (you'll want to), and Enjoy!! more

Favorite restaurant in Harrisburg, Honey! 3/9/2008

I eat at Miyako's at least once a week, because after trying every Japanese restaurant in a 20 mile radius, Miyako's has the best sushi I've found. Every other restaurant seems to think simply frying a roll makes it ""special"" while Miyako's has new innovative rolls every couple of months that utilize fresh ingredients and unique inspirations. And when Miyako's does tempura a roll, like their amazing Rock 'n' Roll, they are skilled enough to do it without cooking the fish through. My favorite roll is their ""Wasabi Rainbow Roll"" which features a variety of fresh fish and a wasabi-based sauce drizzled on top. Also, try their soups and chicken teriyaki!\r \r \r \r \r Pros: The Staff is wonderful. Food is delicious. Newly remodelled. Cons: Parking downtown can be frustrating more

Great Special Rolls 12/27/2007

I have eaten sushi all over the world and while this place lacks a certain atmosphere, I find their special rolls to be equal to anywhere in the country. I eat there at least once a week and have yet to have a bad meal.\r \r I would suggest : Tropical Inferno, The Volcano Special, Valentine and Jungle Roll. Pros: Chef's Specials, Service, Bento Luch Boxes Cons: Ambience more

Forgettable Experience 12/16/2007

I found this restaurant just a few blocks from my hotel and decided to give it a try. The sushi bar is in the front of the restaurant with the majority of the tables in the back. The place is very spartan, which isn't abnormal for a sushi restaurant, but somehow this felt...unfriendly and sad, like a cafeteria, rather than peaceful and open. The hostess seemed friendly; however, the waiter was not. He didn't smile once throughout my meal, he did not check with me to see if I wanted anything else, and he didn't ask if I was enjoying my dinner. The menu choices were fairly good with a wide range of combos and different entrees. I got a California Roll and a Spicy Tuna roll. The sushi was not as fresh as I would expect and actually had a fishy smell. There are better choices for Sushi in this general area, Zen in Mechanicsburg, for example. They are only a couple of miles apart physically, but worlds apart in quality. Pros: Close to downtown and hotels Cons: Food, Service, Pricing. more
