Very poor customer service 5/6/2011

We are renting a home in Sunland, and our landlord is kind enough to pay for pool service. We moved in on April 1st, and every Wednesday our pool gets serviced by Mitchell's Pool Service. Mitchell is an older gentleman, and his son (also named Mitchell) assists. When we moved in, our landlord gave us Mitchell's number, and directed us to coordinate with him as to what schedule would work best for everyone. The first day he came, I went out and introduced myself and asked him if this was around the time that he normally comes, and he told me yes. I looked at the clock and it was around 11am, so I made a mental note that he will come on Wednesdays, anytime between 11am and 12 noon. Two weeks after that, my husband and I purchased a solar pool cover which warms the pool and also helps keep it clean. Every Wednesday morning at 10:30am we uncover the pool, unlock the pool gates, and unlock the front gate to allow him access. We do this specifically so as to not take up more of his time, and to not cause him to be late for his next client. Technically we don't have to do that, but we are courteus people, and would think that he would appreciate that but no. So this past Wednesday May 4th, we get everything unlocked for his arrival, and he doesn't show up at 11. Fast forward to 1:40pm, and he still hadn't shown up, nor called us to let us know what was going on, or if he was even still coming. My husband called and left a message on this voicemail at 12:30pm stating that we had to leave at 1:30pm because we had a doctor's appointment at 2pm that day. We NEVER heard back from him. When we came home at 3pm, he left his card on our door, and scribbled very messily on the back that he was running 30-40 minutes late (it was more like 3 hours!) and that he would come back Friday. Around 5pm I called him back and left him a voicemail saying that we got his card, and that we will be home on Friday and that we expect him around 11am, and that if in the future he is running late, to just give us a call and let us know. I would like to add that my husband and I left him very nice, cordial messages. So this morning he decides to come early, at 10:12am. Once again, he NEVER called me or my husband back, which is pretty darn disrespectful, as we have a baby. So he comes and does his thing, my husband went out there to tell them to call us next time they are running late, just so we know. They give us a lame excuse about how all the wind storms made extra work for them, which I totally understand, just call the customer!!! I talked to our landlord this morning, and it turns out that this clown doesn't call me or my husband back, but he calls OUR landlord and is giving her attitude, telling her that when he comes to clean our pool, that our gate better be unlocked, or he is going to drop her as a client!!!! Apparently he forgot that we leave EVERYTHING unlocked for him when he comes. Except when HE IS THE ONE THAT WAS 3 HOURS LATE AND DIDN'T CALL!!!! more
