Terrible Wax 2/16/2011

I've had a lot of waxes, but the worst brazilian wax by far was at Mitazi. It was extremely painful - she tore off the top layers of my skin about an inch and a half long. To stop the bleeding, she put a topical on it that burned so bad I thought it was nail polish remover. My skin actually swelled and bled from underneath. 4 days later, I'm left with an open, swollen wound and I'm still not able to exercise or walk normal. Seriously, the worst experience I've ever had. And on top of it, the room was dirty. more

Painful and scars 2/11/2011

Not happy. I have had several Brazilian's and this was the worse. The technician seemed to be in hurry as if she had to catch the last train for the night. She did not ask me about my skin or have me fill out a form regarding allergies, skin type etc. (Red flag) My experience has been if you have not been in for a while that the technician will use scissors to trim you down. Nooo... she proceeded without trimming and wondered why the hair was not coming off. Stating she had never had this happen before so she went over and over again which made my skin raw. She then said that she put too much wax where the airplane strip goes and that she could try to fix it or take it all off. That is not what I wanted! I don't like the little girl look and neither does my friend. She then left and got the manager who was very professional and pleasant and used smaller strips and took the hair off in smaller squares. But this means that she is going over the entire areas again. (SCREAM) I have never walked out soar and i felt my wax in the morning. Normally , by the time I leave the spa I feel normal. She also used a cooling cream that did the opposite....set me on fire. My skin is sensitive but they did not know that because they did not ask any questions about my skin type. I was sweating during the process. I just can't recommend and was disappointed with the service and had a totally difference experience than the previous reviews. more

Best Brazilian 3/10/2008

I have had Brazilain waxes before, and sometimes it can seem a bit nerve-racking ((I'm going to take my pants off for someone to rip my hair out... ok)) Anyways, the lady I got at Mitazi was a very attractive young lady. I went in the room, she told me what to do... left for my privacy. The Brazilian was so fast, she was hilarious. She had such a great attitude that it made getting a Brazilian waxing so comforting. I highly recommended this place for Brazilian waxing. Great price too. How can you beat that? Pros: location, service, quality, professional more

5 STARS! 7/25/2007

I've known Mitazi to be around for more than a decade. I think the girls who work there are very well trained in their proffession. I can see why some people might mistake their shyness for being surly or rude. Most of the girls who work there are from Poland and you have to give them a lot of credit for working so hard and trying to better their English. I've found that the people here are truly genuine and they always try their best no matter who I go to. I also think the waxes here are one of the best in the city and I have never had a more perfect mani & pedi elsewhere. I've traveled all over the country at 5 star hotels and spas and the reason I come back to Mitazi is because of their great skills they possess in their trade. The salon has a very cozy eclectic decor and I think all the women who work there are absolutely gorgeous inside and out. Pros: Very skilled more

definitely mixed 7/18/2007

I have been to this nail place more than any other (which tells you something), but after reading others' reviews I am compelled to give mine because I feel the reality is somewhere in between the one-star and five-star. It is TRUE they give great manicures, their polishes are great (can't speak for the other products like lotions, those might be sub-par). But your nails look EXCELLENT after leaving and will last a long time. It is also true that the girls working there are quiet at best, and surly at most. There's kind-of a trendy-clicque thing going on there. The girls seem like they need to be impressed by you, otherwise they don't communicate with the customer. There is one very friendly woman in there (Anna), the others seem depressed, preoccupied or just sad. But, as I said, I go back b/c you're in there for a mani/ pedi, not a happy hour. One note on waxing - they are fast and good at waxes, but it's true this experience lacks sanitary measures. I probably wouldn't recommend the waxing. Pros: Decor looks nice Cons: Seating/ set-up is somewhat uncomfortable more

Waxing=SCARS? 12/28/2006

This salon is the worst in more than just customer service; they have no skills to be providing any of the services they offer. It is obvious that they have no official education as Estetitions. They didn?t ask me any questions about my skin before waxing it! And proceeded to wax my face while I was informing her of my sensitive skin. Before I knew it she had pulled off a chunk of my skin! Of course I didn?t notice till I looked in the mirror afterwards, because the pain of her wiping my freshly waxed face with her fingers, without tissue or ointment. Therefore, driving the infections into my skin from her dirty hands which made my skin break out horribly! I have been getting my face waxed for 15 years and never have I been treated with such poor care! EVER!! Please avoid this salon, as we don?t need the waxing to be any more pain full than it already is! Plus, this should make us beautiful not leave scars. Cons: The staff speaks poor English, if any at all. more

best place in the city 5/2/2006

The only bad thing I can say about this salon is that it has set the bar so high that I can't go anywhere else!! This salon might not be as elegant as an Oak street spa, but the value and the quality is there and I can't say that about any other place in the city. Their mani/pedi's last forever and look great! I currently live in the Gold Coast, but I still hike it all the way up to Lincoln Park (passing up all those Gold Coast spas) to go Mitazi. All the girls are great, but I really like going to Anna. She gives the best French Manicure. Like I said this place has ruined me. I can't stop in a random salon to get a manicure because I always compare it to Mitazi's and I still haven't found a place that matches their quality. I'm addicted!! more

Don't expect service with a smile 1/23/2006

Upon asking the girl doing my toes what sorts of special pedicures they offer, she simply responded with a gruff ""spa pedicure"" with no willingness to help me indulge myself on a much needed day of relaxation. she didn't even try to tell me what the spa pedicure was, as she began the service. if i'm going to spend over $25 on a pedicure, i expect that my feet are going to be rubbed. she might have spent 1 minute total, on both feet. i had a wax here too and the service was equally disappointing. a waxer should make a girl feel comfortable, i felt like i was intruding. I definitely do not recommend this place. the girls were mean and the pedicure below mediocre. more

If you are look for a fun, cool, and fashionable atmosphere to get your nails done this is it!! With a wide variety of services, they are the real deal! No cheap maincures here, my OPI polish stayed on for over 2 weeks! The friendly and fashionable staff make you feel like you are family! Pros: inexpensivw, parking , easy to get in more

This place is GREAT! 9/25/2005

Being a guy I was kind of hesitant going anywhere for a manicure and pedicure. Being that the whole ""metrosexual"" thing was in style, I decided to try it. Mitazi was and has been the one place where I have gone to and been treated like a king. I've tried other places because they have either been closer to me or I've had gift certificates. Honestly, I'd rather take the drive knowing that the service will be 100 times better. The staff is nice and friendly and have gone out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I truly recommend it for anyone!!! Pros: friendliness, cleanliness, affordable more

Avoid this place 8/13/2005

I went here for a pedicure and had the worst experience. They use cheap products and don't even have pedicure chairs. I was forced to sit in a crappy wicker chair with pillows and place my feet in a drugstore bought foot spa. Despite the poor service and not being happy with the pedicure, I was going to leave a tip but was told I couldn't add a tip to my credit card payment. All of the employees were rude and barely said two words to me then entire time I was there. Save your time and money and go to a real nail salon! more
