Ming's Chinese Cuisine

Our favorite Chinese place in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City are went downhill to the point we had to find a new favorite Chinese restaurant. We hesitantly gave Ming's a chance because of some less than stellar reviews and the strip mall location, but after eating there we knew we found our new place for Chinese food. Every time we go there, most of the tables are full of customers, and that is always a good thing to see at a Chinese restaurant in an obscure strip mall....a true local's place to eat. Our first visit was a memorable one. Ming's serves chinese food the way we remember it (husband and I are both from the East Coast). Generous portions, pork fried rice was loaded with pork, shrimp was large and fresh tasting. Sauces are not too spicy but have a kick. The basket of crispy noodles brought to the table when you sit down are addictive. Service was attentive and pleasant. Biggest drawback for me is that very few of the chicken dishes are prepared with white-meat chicken, which I prefer. Also, the eggrolls are more like spring rolls - I would pass on them next visit. We will definitely be back to Ming's and after 5 years in the desert, we have finally found a favorite place for Chinese food. My Father introduced Ming's to me and my Husband about 7 years ago. I have been coming to the valley since 1964 and my Father, who was truly a food-aholic ate his way through the valley!!! (not to mention the rest of the US) Needless to say, we have ate in many of the restaurants in the valley over the years and Ming's was one of my Father's favorites for Chinese and now is mine too. I can't believe it took me almost 3 years to discover this ""hidden"" treasure in Cathedral City. I have driven by it a thousand times and never stopped. They do not advertise much, and it looks non-descript in a strip center of ordinary looking establishments. A friend took me to lunch a few months ago, and I am hooked, and a regular now. Be sure and look at the daily specials. The chef/owner offers some really wonderful taste treats on the daily special entree menu. The wine selection here is quite remarkable for such a tiny place. 22 years dining in the desert....found ming's 4 years ago....local's place for the most part...sonny wong (owner) does little of no advertising....word of mouth keeps restaurant busy....great for takeout also....best chinese in the valley more

Though small in size, Mings Restaurants menu is LARGE and each dish cooked to perfection with the close supervision of the Owner, Sonny, who is such a warm inviting host. His choice of menu presentation is more than adequate for all tastes. The price of meals is more than reasonable and the size of the servings is very large.
