I love Mimi's! I have tanned at several different places in the past but this has been my home for 10 years. You will never find a better place to tan. This business is owned by a very loyal, honest, and respectable family. It is professionally ran and you can always count on having a five star experience. I love MIMI'S!!!! more

I was a customer of Time 2 Tan until they closed last year. I will be honest and tell you I have tried all of the tanning salons close to me. In my opinion they all tan fine, but the atmosphere and personalized service I received from Mimi's was so far above the customer service I received else where. The ladies at Mimi's took the time to ask me questions that I have never been asked from any other tanning salons (in Knightdale and elsewhere). I know I have found my tanning home and just felt like I needed to share my feelings. Pros: Informative, Friendly and Amazing Results more

I have been tanning for many years, in fact...I cannot remember how just how long. When I first moved to Knightdale, I found out about a place very close to where I live, it was at a ladies fitness center. Once I stopped going there...I tried a new salon in Knightdale that had just opened, only to find out that I was not getting the color I wanted, I could not understand why I was unable to achieve a deep dark tan, I decided to stick it out for a while, not only upset about the bulbs not being changed as they should have, but being subjected to listening to the little teenagers running the place gossiping on the phone, ignoring me as though I was not there, a terrible way to run a business. I finally remembered a woman named Mimi who had come into my place of employment telling me about her tanning salon, this was a few years before trying this awful place, I decided to give it a try....guess what? I hit the jack pot! I have never in my life been so thrilled with a tanning salon, the bulbs are always changed, you can use any bed and come out and see you have tanned, to tell you the truth, I did not think it was possible to sweat in a tanning bed, what's that tell you? The staff is incredible, honest, sincere people who take the time to answer any questions you may have, I honestly look forward to going there not just for tanning, but to see the staff and get my laugh for the day! If I could give Mimi's more than five stars, I would, they deserve it! Pros: They treat you as though you are family Cons: There are no draw backs....None! more

We give Mimi’s Tanning two thumbs up! The best tanning salon around! My husband and I have been tanning at Mimi’s for several months now and I wouldn't recommend anyone else. I had always been unsuccessful tanning indoors until I found Mimi’s. They worked with me to find the right tanning product and bed to give me the perfect tan I was finally able to tan. Not a day goes by that someone doesn't ask us ""Where did you guys on vacation?"" The staff is wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help you. The salon is always spotless and with the hectic schedule that I have, I love that I can just walk in without making an appointment. You've gotta check them out! Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable!! My husband and I have been tanning at Mimi's for over 2 years. YES, its great to have a choice b/c I wouldn't tan anywhere in Raleigh due to the fact that I have never received the same service I get at Mimi's, anywhere else! They treat you like family, always greet you with a 'hello' and I always get a 'Thank you' when I leave. There is PLENTY of parking, there are a few other businesses beside Mimi's but I have NEVER had an issues with finding a place to park!! Maybe its the whole southern hospitality that I grew up with, but Mimi's has always made me feel at home and welcome. I know they appreciate my business as much as I appreciate being able to tan at a place I trust! They have great prices and 2 new turbo beds that I just love! I feel the person that made the comment below about her child being allowed to tan without an ID, may be a little mislead by their teenager! When my husband and I first went, we both had to show our ID's and we are both in our late 20's! So it was obvious we are of age, and since I have been going, I have never seen a kid walk in and tan without having to fill out the sheet and show ID. Also, the comment from 'Lola B' about the 'weight' of the manager, that was just uncalled for and immature. If you are going to use these websites to post reviews, lets atleast have a little class and keep the slanderous comments to yourself. Although I have nothing to gain from this post, I just want everyone on these websites to be completely informed, and the only way to do that it to make sure future clients get the 100% truth!! I would rather tan at TAN U!!! I am so glad I can 'choose' where I want to tan. I too was not impressed by Mimi's Tanning Shak... PRO CHOICE!!!! Cons: hard to get to... small parking lot ... poor attitude more

Since moving here in 2006, I've been a faithful Mimi's customer. They offer fair prices, great service, and fabulous beds! They educate you on tanning and will never let you burn! You work up to your 20 minute session. The staff is knowledgeable and caring. You are treated like family and you KNOW you matter. If you are interested in a lotion, they take the time to tell you the pros and cons of each one based on your individual skin type. You will never be sold something that you cannot use or something that will not produce results. I recommend everyone give Mimi's a try if you have not. The beds are hot, the staff is great, the time is now! See ya there! Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: ABSOLUTELY NO CONS!! more

Mimi's is definitely the place to go if you want a good tan along with a good time. The owner and staff are great, and make you feel completely welcome! As well as abiding by the rules COMPLETELY, it's also a great tanning experience and atmosphere. The whole salon is very well-kept, and rooms along with beds are always above and beyond the expected. The owner, Paula, is wonderful and will answer any question you can think of about tanning and skin care. I am the owner of Mimi's Tanning Shak. I am not hiding from the public with an anonymous name like "" irateu"" has decided to do. \r I am not active on City Search so to find that my salon has been slandered by an unknown reviewer is beyond shady it is plain wrong! \r I would like to clarify that each and every tanning salon is inspected annually by North Carolina State's Dept of Radiation. Their inspection has 24 different points that they check. Among those 24 items I would like to bring attention the following 3:\r 7. Consumer Profile Form ? determination of the suitability of prospective consumers for\r tanning equipment use and determination of the duration of tanning exposures.\r 10. Record of client visits ? date, time and exposure time.\r 18. Evidence that exposure time versus skin type is strictly enforced.\r \r Mimi's has been in business 15 years and we have never been cited for not being compliant on any of these points. We take this very serious! I won't even let my teen room attendants? tan without a signed client form! I signed my own son's form and my ex-sister-in-law signed for her children. So for some unknown reviewer to accuse my place of business of being irresponsible and a community plague is nothing but evil slander!!\r We are family owned and operated. I personally work in the salon 6 out of 7 days a week to assure the integrity of Mimi's is upheld each and every day. My kid came home one day and had obviously been allowed to tan at a tanning salon, without my consent. After much deliberation, I was told that Mimi's Tanning Shak allowed my kid to tan... no questions asked! I spent hours explaining the dangers of tanning to my kid. Apparently Mimi's is more concerned with making money than preserving heathly skin concerning kids. I was also told that everyone just sits around and talks about other people. Mimi's is like a plaque to our community and to our kids. Cons: No ID checks, No control of loitering more

Awesome customer service, very knowledeable of products and tanning beds. Keeps stock of\r brand new product lines. BEST beds ever. You will definately be making a mistake if you\r don't stop by ""The Shak"" in Knightdale. Great atmosphere. more

This is the best get away without actually leaving town! I have gone to tan and got caught up in the conversation and been there for a lot longer! Mimi and Paul are like family to everyone that come in. Pros: No appointments, Get In/Get Out more
