My first visit was excellent. had a wonderful 3 hour lunch with my wife and felt like we were back in Greece on our honey moon 14 years ago! Excellent food, great pricing and a wonderful atmosphere. The owner showed me around and their kitchen is very clean and organized. We plan to be back for dinner soon and we highly recommend this small restaurant to all our friends and family. more

Message to owner: if you don't care 5/29/2012

Message to owner: if you don't care about your customers or the quality of your food, go ahead and close already. My husband and I have been five or six times and would go more but we have small children. However, tonight was our last visit. They were unapologetically out of several things, including things that were supposed to come with our dinner but claimed those things were ""bonus"" items and weren't factored into the price anyway. The food was terrible across the board (except the pita and black olive spread), including what tasted like rancid tahini. We have been rooting for this restaurant to make it, but it's clear now why we are usually dining alone. Apparently, we had been getting lucky on our past visits, but our luck ran out tonight. Spend your money ANYWHERE else. They could care less about your dining experience. more

Mediocre, overpriced, surly, and 20% gratuity included 2/26/2012

My wife and I and another couple ate at the Blu Greek Taverna off Marietta square last night. The atmosphere was pleasant and we were greeted and taken directly to our table. We ordered two appetizers for the table, a grilled eggplant spread and a kalamatta olive spread. The olive spread was OK but uninspired (i.e. chopped olives), the eggplant had an awful after taste. We all tasted and disliked it. We tried to send it back and were told it was the grilled flavor and was supposed to taste that way (although she hadn't had it). I tried again saying we didn't like it, had no one else mentioned that it didn't taste right? No, we were the first complaint. At that she took the plate I handed her, which seemed to irritate her. The entrees arrived and were all four just OK. I had the Moussaka which was mediocre and served along with canned fruit and soggy rice . At this point our experience was still only a bit below mediocre. Then the bill arrived; she had not removed the inedible spread from the bill and had generously tipped herself 20% adding insult to injury. Apparently, they add gratuity to ALL bills, regardless of the size of the party. We won't be back. Another reviewer called this ""Marietta's best Greek food."" Do yourself a favor, if you want Greek food, leave Marietta. You will do better almost anywhere else other than the Blu Greek. more

BLU-simply tasty! 9/27/2011

I went two weekends ago with my girlfriend. The place smelled great ( I think they had incenses lit). This was my second time and I noticed that the Lounge area was rearranged, making the place seem more welcoming. We ordered the Hallumi Saganiki (flaming goat cheese), the mix grill for 2, and a carafe of the house red wine. Everything was great. Our server Armie, she was sweet and attentive. The bill was over 100$, but so worth it. We will be back for a third round! I give this place an A+++! more

Rude Rude Rude! 7/25/2011

There are not enough words to tell you how awful this restaurant is. I have a son who is a tattoo artist and so he has tattoos. He is well mannered, clean cut and extremely respectful. He and his friend went into this restaurant last Saturday night and the hostess after seating them treated them as if they were lepers. She was rude, loud and obnoxious. She basically did not want to serve them because of their appearance. What year is this? 1963? When my son asked to speak to the manager she informed him she was the daughter of the owner and she wasn't going to go get her father. She was so awful to them that she brought my son's female friend to tears and had the whole restaurant in stunned silence. Go here if you want, if you think everyone should look like carbon copies of each other, if you have no respect for human decency, if you judge others purely out of ignorance and think that you have the right to treat others poorly because you don't like the way they look. Perhaps they should make it a restaurant policy that unless you meet the criteria of being white, blue eyed, and conservative you are not allowed to eat there. I am appalled and outraged that this kind of discrimination still exists! more

Delicious! 3/11/2011

Visited this little place twice in 2 weeks. We loved it. Clean, tasty and although a bit on the high side price wise, we felt comfortable and very pleased when we left. Both times we ate there, the owner came out and greeted us and both time he sent out a small free dessert when we did not order one. I have been to Greece and the food and service here is at par if not better than what we had there! Try it. more

Rudest owner ever! Will never go back!!!!!! 3/6/2011

I tried to redeem my groupon on March 5th. The groupon stated it expired on March 15th. There is NO mention of exclusion of alcohol or a minimum purchase if you use the groupon!. When I get to the restaurant, I tell the waiter I have a groupon and he tells me the alcohol is not included AND I have to purchase a minimum of $50!!! We had to choose 2 more appetizers that we didn't want just to get up to the amount we needed. When we were ready to pay our bill, I showed the waiter my groupon phone app and he said, ""we don't accept that. We must have a print out."" I told him I wanted to speak to the owner/manager. The owner came out and told me he was sick and tired of people coming into his restaurant wanting to eat for free and he wished he had never heard of groupon!!! He told me without a print out he would not accept it because he couldn't even be sure my app was a real groupon and not a forged groupon! I told him I understood him not having a bar code reader but he could write down my groupon number and it would be the same thing. He refused! Then he tells me the groupon was not supposed to be good after January, that was a groupon company error not his, so I would have to take it up with them and he wasn't going to accept it! I was looking at an $87 bill to pay!!!!!!!! I told him I wasn't paying the bill if he wouldn't take the groupon. He told me I was trying to threaten him with black mail and that he would call the cops if he had to! I said, ""So if I give you a print out, are you going to accept the groupon?"" He finally said yes so I asked if I could use his printer. He said, ""Lady, this is not kinkos, no I don't have a printer you can use!"" It was pouring outside. I had to walk in the pouring rain, 2 blocks in 4 inch heels, to get a print out for this man before he would take $35 off our ticket. I have never been so rudely spoken to or treated in my life. I told him I would not give him a good review. He said he could care less what I wrote about him. He said he wasn't in business to care, he was in business to serve good food. I think this man has missed the whole point of ""groupon"". Build new repeat business! I will never go back nor will anybody I associate with want to go after I am finished telling them how we were treated. more

I'll never go back 2/10/2011

Someone recommended this place so I tried it for lunch one day. I had the octopus salad appetizer which was grilled. It was tough and extremely overcooked. I had a greek salad that was very large in portion but not very good in taste. The tomatoes were almost white. I can walk in Publix and get a fresher tomato than that....and this is a restaurant! Have had better Greek salad dressing out of a bottle. And ended up being a $25 lunch with tip. Forget this placfe. more

Best Greek Fare around Atlanta 1/26/2011

My favorite was the Halloumi saganaki. Cyprus goat cheese set on fire by the server. wow! what a texture. The decor is very Greek and tasteful. We liked the server (she was Greek) and the owner came to the table twice during dinner to make sure everything was good. We plan to go back soon! more

Mediocre Food, Terrible Service 9/7/2010

I was incredibly disappointed in this restaurant. The short version: though not busy the waiter was completely inattentive; They were out of gyro meat completely, salads with lukewarm (as in sitting out too long) ingredients and wilted lettuce, a waiter that disappears for ages and then comes back reeking of smoke. He also has no idea what wines they have in stock, and they don't have a wine menu. Watch out if they offer bread, because what they don't tell you is that they charge you for it...that's if they bring it or not. We had to have this charge removed since the guy never brought it to us. Overpriced, tasteless food was a real shock since this restaurant had good reviews as recently as 2 years ago. I won't be back. more

EXCELLENT Gyros!!! 7/29/2010

My wife and I went there...she got a boring salad (just my opinion), but she said it was good...As for me...I have been to Greece and have eaten the Gyros there....and these are dead on the money at this place...Very large Gyros...Good pricing...I will definitely go back....and I will definitely be getting the Gyros...Excellent! Pros: Great food! Cons: Very Hot in restaurant more

Blu Greek Taverna 6/24/2010

Was hesitant to try due to several negative reviews.\r Forget them. GO taste for yourself. \r It states on the menu Pita Bread and olive tapenade is $1.00 per two people. Our waiter pointed out that the price had gone up. We decided to try it.. Olive Tapenade was scrumptious. Appetizer was Keftedes (rolled meatballs). They were good. Not what we expected but still good. The hummus that came with it took us too a new level of hummus delight. Next time we wouldn't get the Pita Bread/olive tapanade or the meatballs we would ask for a bowl of hummus. They make it on premise.\r \r My friend didn't care for lamb so they ordered the Mousaka. I order Kleftiko (lamb prime-rib slow cooked). The Mousaka came with rice to die for. An order of fruit also came with it. I think every bite of the Mousaka was better than the bite before it. The fruit could have been desert as it was that good. \r \r Now to the Kleftiko. Wow, Wow, Wow!!! Remember my friend didn't care for lamb. Not so with this dish. They also loved it. The lamb melted in your mouth. The mint jelly was the best we ever tasted. I enjoy food and normally have nothing to take home. Not in this case. I took almost half of it home. There was that much food. \r \r We were too full to even consider desert. \r \r Would we go back. Yes! Yes! Yes! \r \r Pros: Wonderful Food Cons: Parking on the Marietta Square. more

BEST GREEK CUISINE IN TOWN!!!! 5/18/2010

Best Greek food I have ever tasted!! Large portions, and very reasonably priced!! The Greek wine is wonderful. The atmosphere is relaxed and the people are very kind. The service was quick yet we felt it was comfortable. Perfect spot for a night out with friends or for an intimate dinner. IF you haven't tried it, you are truly missing out on a great experience in Marietta. Pros: Excellent variety and AUTHENTIC atmosphere!!! more

Nice Place 4/24/2010

Right when i walked into Blu Greek Taverna i knew i chose the right place to eat dinner. I liked the theme of blue and white. I ordered a nicosia salad and it was very delicious. The only thing was, it took a while to get it, but i guess that happens at every resteraunt. It tasted fresh and tasty. I would recomend this restaurant. :) Pros: laid back yummy restaurant Cons: It took a while to get food. more

Bad food and expensive 4/11/2010

I wanted a place where I can catch up with my girlfriend so thought we could grab a glass of wine and a few apps. We did and ordered the octopus, calamari, some salads and hummus. The octopus was terrible. We gave it back after the first bite but was still charged for it. The calamari was terrible and soggy, barely any flour on the squid. House of Lu down the street makes the best calamari, so go there. The salads and hummus can be picked up at Whole Foods at 1/3 the price and better quality. The pita chips was the best part of the snacks that we ordered. We will not come back! Pros: Near my work Cons: Bad idea altogether to come here more
