Mill Street Grill

Had dinner here last night and was pleasantly surprise, the outside of the building is a little rustic and industrial looking. Inside it was very cozy and warm with lots of wood and stained glass windows across the back. We were promptly seated, was very busy and there was Jazz band playing which and they were very good. Our waitress was friendly and got us our drinks very fast; they know how to make a good dirty martini. For appetizers we got the Oysters Rockefeller and Baked Goat Cheese. Both were generous portions and tasty. The Rockefeller's had to be the best I ever had with creamy spinach and crisp bacon on top. The goat cheese was topped with a tapenade with tomatoes and served with toasted herb bread. It was hot and creamy and a very good combination. They have a great wine list there and it is very reasonable. We order a bottle of red and I got the lamb, it was in a port wine brown sauce with mushroom, onion and sun-dried tomatoes. I order it medium rare and it was. It was not gamy at all, very tender and just good mixtures of flavors. My dish also came with mashed potatoes that were creamy with a little garlic in them more

These people aim to please on every level. From ample portioning ( hey, don't be afraid to take some home with you) to fantastic daily specials and an encore list of regular menu items that will keep you coming back. Something for every palate. And a very nice wine selection. They are known for their excellent ribs, but are so much more than just a rib place. Don't miss their Oysters Rockefellar . This is a first-rate restaurant ---excellent steaks . A full American menu with terrific seafood too. This is the place you want to take your family and friends to for that special occasion. If you are visiting Staunton--- you will want to dine here for a 5 -star meal! more

I lovre this place for Sunday Brunch. You cna chose from breakfast type foods to luncheon type foods. There is something for everyone. I have also been there for dinner during the week with family from out of town and they also enjoyed the place. The ribs are the best. My husband is a sandwich man and he has tried all on the menue. Great food, great atmosphere what more could you want. Located in an old flour mill that was operated by the White Star Mill. The food is always good service is good and a usually interesting wine list to pick from. Live Jazz on Wednesdays makes for a great night. If you like sauced up ribs don't pass them by! I have been lucky enough to have eaten twice in the last few months at Mill Street Grill. Both times have been on a Wednesday night when they have live jazz. Last night was the same band that was there the last time I went but that's fine because they are great! Good music, comfortable casual atmosphere, and great food. Do not pass this one up. I've had the prosciotto and provolone stuffed chicken breast over pasta and the prime rib blackened on one side. Both were excellent. The drinks are great, and their fresh bread and special butter is incredible. Go on a Wednesday and have fun! Go early because they seem to run out of their specials on a fairly regular basis but their regular fare is wonderful also.
