I am so tired of this kind of review. Please do not rate a restaurant on it's TAKE OUT service. It is a completely different ballgame -especially at the shore in the summer. We stay in Avalon and love Mike's. We like hard shell crabs and they have great ones. more

Horrific ownership 6/2/2008

Just bought house in SIC. Had dinner in SIC's Mike's Seafood last year for the first time. Dinner was so-so. But we were all craving seafood, so it sufficed. We haven't returned since...and we live in SIC all year now. \r \r Second experience with Mike's was in their Ocean City location. We really wanted Campbell's Seafood (oh so good...but they closed). Mike's seems to be the only other option, but we were eager to try it. We ordered dinner for 4 for take-out. We were very excited with all of the food options. We ordered 4 dinners & 1 appetizer and drove home to Sea Isle for dinner. Once we walked in the door, we realized we didn't get one of the 5 things. We called to ask that our credit card be refunded for the missing item. Shockingly, they refused!?!?!!!!!! They insisted that we had received it, um...but we didn't...why would we call? Dinner was over $80 for takeout in styrofoam...and again, mediocre. Best part is that they use Kelchner's tartar & cocktail sauce (but they don't make that themselves). The owner, Mike, finally got on the phone after we simply asked that the card be credited. They said we couldn't prove it. Seriously? Forget customer service apparently!!! Unbelievable! He started yelling at us and we finally just hung up. There were 4 of us standing around, all of us could hear him screaming through the phone, without being on speaker. Honestly, the last time we raised an issue with a pick-up order was almost 4 years ago in a Philadelphia surburban restaurant. The owner of the restaurant drove the missing order over and dropped off a gift certificate. We weren't asking Mike's for anything other than to not be taken advantage of...so bizarre that anyone would think that was good business, much less the ethical thing to do!? In all of our years, that was the worst experience.\r \r Find somewhere else to patronize - they don't deserve it. Cons: Ownership, Customer Service, Value - RUN AWAY!!! more
