Saving Ditka's as our last meal on our week long stay in Chicago was a big mistake. Apparently the staff was far more tired than we were! We ordered the bone in filet and the ne...

Ditka vs Food...Ditka 11/20/2006

Before the food or the drink I need to talk about Ditka. Right when I walked in Mike Ditka himself was standing there. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his was very approachable. The waiter said that he comes in almost everyday during the week, but not the weekends. Anway, the steak was top notch. I really enjoyed the crab bisque, but would have liked some actual chunks on meat in there. I also enjoyed Ditka's Beer, it tasted like a pale ale but im not sure. Next time I visit I want to go for lunch and try the #1 Burger. Pros: Ditka, Steak, Beer Cons: Cigar Smoke, Bathroom Attendant Burnt My Hand w/ Hot Water more

just good 8/22/2006

I thought the food was great and well cooked, I will go again & tell others. I did enjoy the friday night crowd. more

Best Ribs I have ever had! 3/3/2006

The BBQ baby back ribs were unbelievable. The service was top notch, the sides are excellent (great fries), and the bread basket was a surprising highlight as well. I have also tasted the roasted chicken, which is delicious as well. Prices were reasonable, and actually a great value considering the quality. ($15+ for the main course; ribs = $22, chicken = $16). Serving size is big! A load of (some fantastic) fries with the ribs that could have fed 3 people, and all the gormet bread you want. The atmosphere in the dining room has dim lighting and is great for business or romance. It has an upscale feel. For a more casual experience, you can eat in the bar area. Located just off the Magnificent Mile (you can see it from N Michigan), you can't beat this spot. A GREAT restaurant, and the highlight of my recent Chicago trip. Pros: Quality, Service, Ambience more

top notch 10/5/2005

been there twice. once the coach was there signing his book. Last week was there I think I saw that party that one reviewer mentioned. The staff handled it wonderfully. I got the steak once and the burger once. No words to discribe the meal. How about this......... in heaven? The waiter had to nearly bring me back to earth. One bad feature though. No olive oil. Can you believe it? Even the waiters were shocked. They said they would tell Mike. How about it Mike? No restaurant is complete without a fine olive oil for dipping the bread and drizzling on the finer soups and such. Oh yeah, we bought some momentos as well. They have the cutest plates for sale too. Ill be back in Chicago again next month. I will go. more

Great Service 5/28/2005

Great Service Great Pork Chop I arrived early for reservation. With me was a 14 year old, so we could not wait in the bar. The staff found us a place where we could be comfortable. The staff in all areas that I could see was top notch. Food was excellent. Pork Chop was huge and perfectly presented. The only negative was the tables are a little to close together. Pros: Food, Service Cons: Seating more

Great time 5/28/2005

I've had the pleasure of dining at Ditka's several times - excellent food all the way around. The salmon melts in your mouth - not overcooked, very flavorful sauce. Make sure to get the potroast nachos, they are the best! Pros: friendly staff, tasty food, valet parking more

Rehersal Dinner PLUS 5/9/2005

Yes the food is good in the resturant..HOWEVER..I had my sons wedding rehersal dinner UPSTAIRS and to say the service was EXCELLENT woud be putting it mildly. Anne was nothing short of awesome in helping me, and a year later THAT evening is still Big Talk for the people that attended, both Chicagoans and out of towners. I have been here for dinner often and enjoy the bar upstairs....Enjoy the atmosphere, and the food......good eating !! Pros: atmosphere, easy parking, fun more

Great!! I love the Fridge Burger 5/5/2005

Mouthwatering taste I love the service and atmosphere, lots of fun. more

Excellent food...and Da coach! 1/5/2005

Eating here was one of the real perks of my Chicago vacation. Chicken wings where okay...too much breading though. The bread they brought was served with Brown Sugar butter, which I like very much. I then went to use the bathroom, on the way up there, I met Ditka himself, it was a great suprise! He shook m e hand, and signed a picture for me (Unfountunitly, I had to pay $15 to get the picture from the gift sop). Nice restrooms here as well. My entree was ""Da Pork Chop"" Hands down the best pork chop i've ever had! A great Bone-In chop in ""Ditka's prok chop sauce"" which, I was pleased to find in my local Lund's when I got back home. I recommend this place to any out-of-town visitor to Chicago, and to the locals as well! Pros: Valet Service, Great Pork Chop, Ditka! Cons: , Chicken wings more

Inattentive service 10/1/2004

Our service wasn't the best from our waitress. I felt like she wrote us off when she saw we were a young couple that didn't order expensive drinks. My husband ended up ordering the most expensive thing on the menu though. Pros: Tasty Food, Nice Location Cons: , Crowded, Noisy more

Excellent! 7/23/2003

Mike Ditka's is one of the best restaurants around. My wife and I have eaten here consistently and have never had a bad meal. Last week, we had a special dinner with about 30 family and friends, and they did a superb job. The meal choices were excellent. Everything was prepared just right, and the service was outstanding. To me, the sports/memorabilia/Ditka connection is just a bonus. This is just an all-around great place to eat! Pros: Food quality, Atmosphere, Food variety Cons: Small dining area, Upstairs a bit smoky more

All about Mike 2/17/2003

Memorabilia in the joint was enormous. The food looked real good, it was too bad I was only there for lunch. The ambiance was real nice. Service was prompt as well. Pros: Sports Stuff, Food more

Da Great Lunch 10/23/2002

Great lunch with dinner sized portions. We ate here for lunch and were pleasantly suprised at how friendly the staff was and at the quality of the food. My wife's club sandwich was huge. Mike is generous with the meat on his sandwiches. I had the pulled pork. It was awesome. Great smoked flavor, lively sauce. The cheese and jalapenos were a bonus. Our waitress was super friendly and very nice. We would have liked to try Mike's for dinner based on lunch, but had reservations elsewhere. Pros: Portions, Friendly Staff Cons: Walk or Valet more

Steaks and Football! 10/7/2002

Wonderful menu w/great Bears memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Signature ""paddle steak"" was wondeful and it included mashed potatoes, too. A nice bonus considering most steakhouses have a la carte side items. Pros: Sports atmosphere, Cigar Humidor Cons: small dining room more

No Mike but great food! 8/5/2002

Prime rib like a marshmallow! We tried Da Pork Chop, the KickAss Steak, The Fridge Burger, the chopped salad; all were delicious. Nice chocolate cake and cosmopolitan too! Expect to pay the bucks, but it is a very nice treat. Nice entertainment in the cigar bar, and the non-smoking section is nicely non-smoky! Nice service and never an empty water glass! Pros: food, service, sports memorabilia Cons: price, all a la carte more

Classy joint 8/4/2002

This place has all the ingredients of an upscale sports bar including a great burger. more
