We were a little hesitant after reading the other reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. Food - My husband and I each had the seafood chowder, and will get it each time we come down to Corolla. The crabcakes are great, but a bit small - get two. My husband got the halibut and it was cooked perfectly. Service - the waiter was very friendly and attentive. We will be back. Pros: seafood chowder, crab cakes, friendly service Cons: outdoor area smells when the go-karts are running. more

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY 6/11/2008

Our last night in Corolla was spent dining at Mike Dianna's. On appearance, it looks nice. From there, it is all downhill. Our trip was early in the season and the restaurant was not that crowded. We waited over an hour for our meal to arrive, from the time we ordered. Then, my filet, which was ordered medium well (which on their menu states that it will be butterflyed) arrived and was barely warm, and bleeding, and not butterflyed. I sent it back, and waited another 20 minutes only to have it delivered back to me burnt on the outside and still bleeding on the inside. The manager came over to me and asked if it was ok now. I showed him the inside and said it was still not medium well, - (heck, it wasn't even medium). He proceeded to insult me by saying this was a good cut of meat and not what I was used to buying at the grocery store. How the heck does he know what I buy and where!? I paid the bill, left a 20% tip for the waiter and left. Bottom line is this. The restaurant is way over priced. Now I don't mind paying premium dollars but I expect premium service and quality of food. I received neither. I've been vacationing in Corolla for years and eating at Timbuck II on every trip (this is the center where the restaurant is located for those not familiar). My recommendation - Eat at North Banks located in the next building over from this hole. The food is good, and the service has always been outstanding. They too are a ittle pricey, but they can back it up with quality and service. Pros: It's located in Corolla Cons: Everything else - Quality, Price, Service, Manager/Owner more

No way any day! 8/16/2007

The Grill Wood gets 5 stars for it's crab cake appetizer...it's really good. Unfortunately, the service we received and the entree would earn 0 stars. First, we ordered two bottled beers..which appeared promptly but they weren't particularly cold and were served with out glasses (or even offering glasses). The appetizer arrived shortly thereafter and was, as I said, quite good. Then, we ordered our entrees...two of the seafood specials. The waiter asked if we would like a salad...to which we responed yes...be careful here!!! The side house salad ran us $5!!! ...remember to ask if there is an additional charge! Then, as we waited, we had to ask for water and ask for bread....pretty sure we would have gotten neither without asking. Our salads arrived...they were ok (although expensive) and after about 3 bites our entrees arrived and then the evening went even further down hill from there. The brown rice pilaf was...well, not something I would ever eat or serve to anyone I cared about, the green bean things were ...yucky and the two fish entrees were bland and dry. The whole evening was so disappointing we never went back to try other Corolla restaurants but we did enjoy Blue Point and Red Skye Cafe in Duck....I would recommend both. Pros: good appetizer Cons: poor service, inedible food more

Would not return. It was clean, service was OK. Way over priced for what you get. I went with three people. My Mother and Daughter while on vacation on June 11th. My mother and I ordered Filet and Daughter ordered a Ribeye. With two drinks and an appetizer, bill was 143 dollars. My daughters steak was 50 percent grizzle and fat. Our filets were very small and dry. Why the cook even cooked my daughters ribeye I dont know, how it ever made it to the table is even more disturbing. I had it sent back, I gave my daughter my filet and ordered another one for me. My daughter and mother finished eating. My meal finally came after they finished eating. One would think a restaurant that charges this much would not even bring a cut of meat out this embarrasing. They charged me anyways. I guess after working in a nice restaurant early in my life maybe I expect to much. The busboys serve the main course, come on! This is the waiters job. The waiter should inspect the meal before and during delivery. Maybe if he did he would not have brought out a cut of meat like this. Normally I tip 20percent or more, however only left 10% because of this error. I should have left nothing. Find another restaurant to go to. This place needs better management. We ordered two glasses of house wine, one glass had lip stick stain still on it from the previous customer. Pros: Not much Cons: Over priced, dirty dishes, poor cuts of meat, Management? more

We ate here two separate nights. The first was at 9:30 Pm....food was prepared to perfection. The second was a busier night..seated at 9 PM. Food was good but not as well done as the previous experience. Table tops are covered with butcher paper so kids can crayon and keep busy until the food arrives. Note that coffee and tea are made with Corolla water which is very poor in taste. more
