Absolutely a great daycare!!! 1/7/2011

My son has attended this daycare for approximately 8 months and I am very pleased. He has learned so much, they teach the children and prepare them for school while also giving them free time to play. I havent had one problem with staff, they are so friendly and caring. I always recieve a report of how his day went, never had a rash when i pick him up. He did fall one day, no injuries but they provided me with a full report anyway. I have moved to jc from kingsport and continue to drive back and forth to keep him at midway because I feel secure in the care and love he recieves from the staff. He enjoys going to daycare. We have been blessed by finding an amazing, safe, caring place for him to be while I work. Cant say enough about the staff, they are a blessing. Have a blessed day!!! more

Staff openly dislike child, don't properly care for child 2/7/2010

When my child first began attending this daycare, I was lied to about how ""happy she is to be here"". I found out a week later that she would cry the whole day she was there. There is an older staff member who walks around barefoot in the classrooms that small children crawl around in and she wears so much perfume it almost knocks you down (my child is allergic to perfume/cologne). I have personally seen her lay an infant(no more than 2months old) down in the middle of a floor that toddlers are running/playing/crawling around on to tend to a child on the potty while no one is around to supervise. Another staff member who is very young will not change my child's pull-up when she has an accident. Every time this staff member is there when I pick my daughter up she has a horrible diaper rash. If she has messed her pants, there will be feces stuck to her bottom to the point where I have to put her in the shower to get it off and as a result, her bottom will be so raw it's almost bleeding. This young staff member has expressed a dislike for my daughter, there isn't enough room to explain those situations. My problems with this daycare are with those two staff members. The owner seems to be a very nice woman who loves children, but I can't get passed the fact that she would always have an explanation or words of defense for the mentioned staff. Pros: my child has learned a lot Cons: read below.... more

Would not advise sending your child(ren) there! 3/5/2009

My children both attend this daycare since fall of last year. During the walk through, the director sold us on how they provide report cards for the children daily and how well the children learn...- we have received three in seven months. In addition, when our children gets hurt - we are not informed. When you ask someone that works there what happen; you are greeted with an immediate defensive mode, then the reply that they don't know what happen, ""it must of just happen. I didn't hear her cry!"". No accidents reports are ever made! My children were sick for weeks, and I asked for a break in the cost (since I lost my job that day) - the answer was pretty much, 'not their problem.' The children gets one week of vacation a year that we pay 50% of the cost. There are no sick days. A parent must also provide a 2 weeks (paid) notice if they want to take their children out of Midway. Their practices should be illegal. After my child being out for so long, I brought her back in for the day. When I picked her up she had scratches across her forehead and down her nose. ""I don't what happen, it wasn't like that this morning!"" No S**T! It is amazing to see these adults ask a 2 year old what happen. The answer they received, ""I fell down!"" There is too many children for the staff to take care of. I can go on about the everyday wrong things that occur - it's very disappointing. Especially when dishing out so much money a month (more than my mortage!) for someone to care for your child(ren). I definitely would not recommend anyone to bring their children there!!!!! Cons: too many to list more

Don't send your child here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 12/11/2008

The owner lies. They said they were taking my child to the potty atleast the owner says she and her daughter are, when I ask the other teachers and the daughter they say they are not. My son came home with scratch on his neck and no one there knows what happened. They switched my childs room without notifying anyone. They are rude and told me one of the teachers were like a 2nd mom to my child. I would definitely not recommend taking your child here. Also they staff at the minimum ratio. Cons: Everything more

* Do not send your child there * 5/3/2008

The only thing I have against Midway Preschool and Daycare center is the fact that the only abide by minimum staffing ratios, which shouldn't be done.\r \r The ratios are :\r 1 teacher for 4 babies\r 1 teacher for 8 1-2 year olds\r 1 teacher for up to 12 2-5 year olds. \r \r She also barely pays minimum wage. Pros: kids are ready for K5 Cons: too big class size , not enough help more
