My experience as a customer of Midtown Tire has been pretty poor and lackluster. I went to this shop to buy one tire and that took two hours which is beyond me and extremely frust...

Overall friendly and professional service. 4/22/2010

I started using Midtown Tire because when I moved into the area it was the closest full service auto shop that looked reputable. Though I started using them because of proximity, they are really a good service, so I continue to go there. Midtown Tire works fast, and they always have what I need. I call in advance, but don't set up an appointment, and they take care of me right away. I have been satisfied every time I've gone there. They also typically give me discounts so I usually get a really good deal. Since they are straight forward and honest, I would absolutely recommend them to others. Casey Stokes more

Excellent service 9/20/2009

I went to Midtown Tire this morning with various problems on a foreign vehicle. The service at Midtown Tire was incredible. Not only did they immediately begin working on my car but they were able to fix everything. The mechanic working on my vehicle was very knowledgeable about specific problems that arise with the make/model and showed me exactly what he did to fix it. They even recommended a mechanic that specializes in my type of vehicle just so I had the number on hand in case another problem came up. I will probably end up using their recommended mechanic but I'm going to bring it back to Midtown Tire first before I take it anywhere else. more

Totally incompetent and questionable integrity 5/27/2009

I took my car in for diagnostic testing when my check engine light came on. I was informed my car needed $4000 in repairs. They said both catalytic converters needed to be replaced and my car wasn't safe to drive. I went elsewhere for a second opinion and ended up paying $250 for repairs (and that included the emissions test). My car needed NONE of the things Midtown Tire told me it needed and to top it off they charged me $150 for that misdiagnosis. I went back to request a refund, which they gave me, but they were arrogant and condescending about it. I was told my car might be running right now, but they doubted it had been properly repaired and I would be back. I wouldn't go back to Midtown Tire for a bandaid if I was bleeding to death. CROOKS. more

I gave them a second chance and they managed to screw that up too..... 11/14/2008

I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially those who have limited automobile knowledge. I took my car to Midtown Tire to get the oil changed and have the brakes checked. They called me at lunchtime and told me that I needed to have a belt changed. They said the belt was cracked and worn. I normally take my car to a family friend to have that kind of maintenance done, but because of the convenience factor I figured I would just let them handle it. \r \r I picked my car up and immediately noticed that it was acting funny. Every time I stopped at a stop light when the A/C was on, the car would die....I took my car to my mechanic after all of this and he said that the belts DEFINITELY DID NOT need to be changed (he checks that every few months when I take my car to get service). My mechanic said the not only did they perform unnecessary maintenance, but they did it poorly (they also charged me $165 to change the belt).\r \r A few months later I was in the city again and had another car problem, but this time it was just a screw in a tire. I figured I would give this place one more chance by letting them repair a simple tire puncture. The screw was right in the middle of the tire, so I figured there would be no problem. We got a call from them a few hours after we dropped the tire off and they said that the puncture wound was too large to patch and they recommended we purchase a new tire (~$100). I new that was a load of BS and they were just trying to make a quick $, so we picked up the tire and took it to the NTB in Decatur. They fixed the tire in 10 minutes and didn't charge us anything.\r \r Bottom line - this place has unethical business practices, overcharges for maintenance and repairs (they wanted $25 to fix the flat), and performs lousy service.\r \r I have never written a review about anything before, but this place was so bad that they inspired me to let others know how truly lousy they are. Pros: They gave me my car back when they said they would.... Cons: They overcharged, they created new problems, they are dishonest, they failed to fullty address and repair my car....the list goes on. more

BEWARE!!! 7/20/2008

I had my tires rotated & balanced, and two days later my car pratically fell apart. Please beware this place is a true ripp off!!! more

Great Auto Shop 7/1/2008

Midtown tire provided the best service I have ever received from an auto shop. Normally, I drive 20 miles out to the Honda dealer in Chamblee (for impersonal service), but this time it wasn't an option because of the issue with my car. Midtown Tire happened to be the closest shop to my house a couple blocks north so I just took it there. Enrique and Derek were very knowledgeable and incredibly friendly. The prices were very fair. My husband and I will probably take both of our cars there from now on. Pros: Location is convenient for city dwellers. Cons: There was a crackhead harassing me on Ponce when I walked to get my car. more

Honest, Reliable Shop 5/30/2008

I have used Midtown Tire a number of times for tires, brakes and minor repairs over the last five years. Their staff is professional and courteous and will tell you honestly what does and does not need to be done. Not necessarily the cheapest but a good option for most repairs and maintenance and very convenient if you live in-town. more

Ignore bad reviews 4/18/2008

I am writing this review simply to tell people to ignore bad reviews of midtown tire. I have been a customer for over 5 years and have NEVER had unethical or rude service, quite the opposite actually. I recommended MidTown tire to all my friends, and most everyone in my circle of friends takes their car there for everything from tire-changes to oil-changes. They have been honest and saved me money in the past. I trust them and fully recommend them to anyone in the downtown Atlanta area! Before I moved to Atlanta my dad did all of the work on my car, and to trust someone like you would trust your dad says a lot. Pros: They are friendly, trustworthy, etc. Cons: Because it is in Midtown, they are very busy on the weekends and sometimes it better just to drop off your car. more

Just another Rip-off Auto Mechanic 4/7/2008

For some reason which I have never been able to figure out, auto mechanics (among other ""paraprofessionals"") think that they are owed something. They try and charge for doing nothing. It seems that auto mechanics are in line with auto salesmen when it comes to shady characters. Midtown Tire is no different. They send out coupons to lure in customers. Generally that is done by a business so that customers will come in and the business will grow by getting new customers, and there will also need to be additional incremental work done besides what the customer needed in the first place. Well it seems to me that many of the mechanics I have dealt with find that extra something that needs to be done. I tried to use a coupon and I had called ahead to find out how long an oil change would take. I was told about 45 minutes. When I arrived and showed them the coupon, I was told that they ""wouldnt be doing anymore oil changes"" that day. So I have my wife call back. Yep, sure enough they are still doing oil changes. However, if you are trying to use the coupon that they sent you, tough luck. They seem to have an issue with people actually using coupons they send out. I just dont understand why people that have not even graduated high school think that because they do something they are owed a great salary and lifestyle. But they try and achieve this by swindling, lying, luring, and cheating the consumer. Hint guys: if you want a great lifestyle and, say a salary in the decent six figures, it helps to finish high school, graduate college, and perhaps even go on to obtain a greaduate degree. Dont try and make up work that doesnt need to be done. And actually honor your advertisements. Pros: I suppose they actually can communicate that they arent honoring their advertisements Cons: Most everything else they do more

Poor Service-Overcharged for Diagnostic 10/19/2007

I went to get my brakes inspected and was charged $95 for them to diagnose (tell me what was wrong) and $95 for them to fix the problem. How can you fix something if you don't diagnose it? Why am I paying you extra to figure out what is wrong with it...traditionally that is a part of the service! One employee attempted to explain this unethical business practice to me and then another came around the corner to add fuel to the fire, specifically stating that we don't do work for free. How rude! \r \r In addition to this, they requested that I pay for my part (to be ordered) and diagnostic service in full and in advance. My part was to be ordered and arrive on by Friday. They did not call me when my part came in. I had to follow up and see if it was okay to bring in my car.\r \r Unless they give preferential treatment to certain customers, the shuttle service is only one way. They will drop you off within a certain range of the shop, but they will NOT come back and pick you up to get your car. ***I must add that the shuttle driver, Kelvin, was very professional on both days that i interacted with him.\r \r Finally when I found a ride to go back and pick up my car, no one greeted me when I entered the lobby, the manager looked dead in my face and walked to the back. He did not acknowledge me at all. Someone then appeared, printed out my receipt, and handed me my key. I asked the guy where my car was, and he told me that it was ""up the hill behind the shop"" WTH? Now... we all know that once your car is serviced, it is to be pulled around to the front. He then looked at me and asked if I wanted him to go get it. He went to get it and I had to make him show me what work was done and that my brake lights were working properly. Awful service and very unprofessional! Beware...they don't seem to care either. They appeared very cocky and rude once I asked them to explain the double charge. Pros: Convenient Midtown Location Cons: Unethical Pricing and Poor Customer Service to ""Some"" more

An HONEST repair shop!!! 3/5/2007

These guys are great. I think mechanics fall under the category of ""life lessons:"" one of the things that will make your life easier is to find a good mechanic and just do what they say needs to be done. We've brought our vehicles here since we moved to Atlanta, and these are just all around great, honest guys. The complimentary shuttle allows me to drop the car off in the morning, and they'll pick me up when I'm done for the day and my car is waiting for me. They could have sucked a couple thousand dollars out of me a couple years back, but instead told me it was time to put the old Mazda out to pasture. Like I said - honest, and keeping in mind that long-term relationships are more valuable than quick-buck profits. I recommend Seth & the crew at Midtown tire to everyone I know! Pros: the wi-fi is nice when I need to wait for something. Great convenient location, shuttle service overcomes the only Con I have Cons: Not always fast - they don't take appointments, so if there's people ahead of you, turn times can be long. Use the shuttle! more
