No updates, no calls, and they kept my car 4/8/2009

I have been using this repair facility for a number of years and have given them more than the benefit of the doubt. They crossed the line this time and I am never using their services again...that is once they give me my car back. A number of times now I have called ahead of schedule to make an appointment. When confirming the appointment, I have always politely asked if they have room for me in the schedule and have always been assured that there is plenty of time available. On the contrast I inevitably end up missing my car for the whole day for something like an oil change and a tune up. I brought my car in this last time to have the usual oil change and to have a really annoying squeaking noise looked at, this was at 7:30am. Both my husband and I have crazy work schedules, a 15 month old, and we commute in opposite directions each about 30 minutes away. This leaves very little room for car repairs and no real options for public transportation. I was assured at drop off that they would have plenty of time to look at and fix the car by the end of the day. I hadn't heard a thing by 2pm and called. They said they hadn't even looked at the car yet!!! By 2:30 they called to tell me the verdict, which I googled to be sure there really was such as thing as a harmonic stabilizer and that it could be unbalanced and leading to squeaking noises. I stressed again the necessity of getting my car back by the end of the day and they indicated that they should have it done. No word, no phone calls, nothing. So while we were out, we stopped by to try and pick up the car about 20 minutes before they closed, the mechanic came storming out and was whining at me about how complicated of a job it was and how if he didn't go carefully he could really screw something up. He insisted there was no way of getting my car back that night and they would call when it it ready. My husband now has to work a short day tomorrow to accommodate my lack of a vehicle. These guys have awful customer service, avoid them at all cost! more

Not good 2/5/2009

Firstly they wont tell you anything while you are in their office. They'll say we'll call you and let you know. All they do is give you a long list of TO DO's with a 600 $ estimate. When you say about the problems that you face they wont listen properly. I told them to do an Oil change and the manager said "I never heard you say that." which was totally ridiculous. I asked if my brakes were bad to the point where its a safety issue. He said you could do it next month...and thats it !! I will never go back to MIDAS coz now i know for sure they really dont care for customers and have no personal touch. I guess they are ok for small stuff like Oil change and 100 point nonsensical checkups but when you want real "ADVICE" on your car, this is NOT THE PLACE where you'll find it. more

Don't Go to This One - Extremely Long Waiting Even If You Scheduled 12/21/2006

I am extremely disappointed about this store located at Malden, MA. I went there because I love my car, and thought Midas could do a more professional job. Well, the job was done good. However, I have to wait for 3.5 hrs + for a FWD couple alignment. I called for a schedule, was told that it would take about 2 hrs. I arrived on time on my scheduled day. My car was sitting at the lot for more than 1.5 hr before it was driven in a bay. After i lost my patience, i was told that "it normally takes AT LEAST 2 hrs" v.s. the original "about 2hrs". Worse, they printed out a detail stating that this job normally takes 3.5 hrs. if that is true, should they not inform their customers 3.5 hrs instead of the "about 2 hrs"? with 3.5 hrs in mind, i could have planned my day better, or just went to another shop. Worst, one of the worker there told me to "Shut Up" when i was arguing about my long waiting time. Bad service. Then, there was another customer came in for some sort of electrical problem. They took the job. After 30 minutes, that customer informed about the progress. He was told that they were checking on it, and it could be hours to a day. But after we looked in to the bays, there were 6 cars on bays, but only 2 workers were actually working. His car was just hanging there. That person was very upset. After all, it is not a good place to go to unless you absolutely have to, and you do have plenty of time. more
