I towed my car into Midas yesterday due to a high-pitched squealing noise, caused (as I was to find out) by a seized bearing in the alternator. Also, had apparently lost coolant due to a leak in the water pump. I was quoted $836.96 over the phone after the inspection revealed I needed to replace the alternator and water pump. I did the smart thing and called around to find better pricing, and found a much better price at a different shop. I talked with Joe at Midas afterward, and after some swearing and attempting to hide behind his big franchise name and trying to guilt me into sticking with them, he told me he'd try to work something out and call me back. He back-pedaled on his price five minutes later, and dropped it to approximately $574, but he swore up and down that the parts weren't quality and would likely be dead out of the box. I declined, as he's still nearly a hundred bucks higher than my new guy, so he had nothing but vitriol to spill over the phone. ""If you're gonna be a d*** about it, I'm gonna charge you for wasting my time to inspect your car."" He had some other choice phrases that I will not mention, but you get the point as to how ""customer service"" is a joke to this franchise. I personally believe spending the $49.95 to get my car back from Midas was the best money I ever spent there. I only wish someone told me how horribly overpriced and terrible they were before I became a loyal customer to them three years ago.
Pros: None.
Cons: Horrible customer service, overpriced
