Midas

Took my car here for an oil change and was told I needed an addition $700+ worth of work. Rear differential, front differential, pinion leaking, fluids under the hood in dire need of change. Little did they know that I'd had the car looked over with a fine tooth comb 3 months earlier because I found out the dealership I'd bought it from had lied to me about a bunch of things. Because the car had been given a clean bill of health, Midas insisting all this work was necessary seemed...alarming. I told them I would have the car looked at by my mechanic later but they kept trying to pressure me into work. I ended up fibbing and saying I didn't have the money so I'd have to wait. They tried to get me to apply for a Midas credit card. Not even slightly joking. The guy is telling me how awful these issues were and how dire the situation was and I just kept telling him no. Finally get off the phone with him and call my mechanic. He starts laughing and says there is no way the fluids and differentials are as bad as they say and says to bring it by so he can check out this pinion leak. No sooner than I hang up with him I get a call back from a Midas supervisor wanting to ""try to work with me on pricing because its dangerous to be driving my car like this and I could blow the rear up and that will cost $5,000 to rebuild on your make & model."" He says he'll do the pinion fix and oil change for $275. Okay, but what about the other stuff? ""Well, that can wait if you cannot afford it. I would have it fixed by first snowfall though."" So you're not ""working with me on price,"" you're just saying you'll do one thing instead of all the other work. How is that a deal? I told them no. I get my car to my mechanic and there are no issues with the rear or front differential and my trans fluids and everything else are fine, other than the wiper fluid and coolant, which Midas didn't top off during their oil change. I paid nealry $40 for them to not do anything other than try to scam me for hundreds of dollars and not even do what they claim to do in their oil change! The ONLY issue he found aside from Midas not doing their job was the pinion work, which he fixed for $50 less. The guys are dishonest scammers. They can't even do an oil change right. DO NOT GO HERE. I will never go again. more

I recently visited the Midas on Fullerton for some car repair. The manager whom I talked to was very polite. He described all services in detail. The prices were fair. The waiting room was very neat. I was promised the car at 3pm, and they delivered. I will continue to take my car to Midas on Fullerton from here on. Thanks guys! See Tony or Ted. Pros: Great customer service, great quality more

NEVER GO TO THIS MIDAS!!!!! I went in to get an oil change and they told me I needed new front brake pads. They did a horrible job and they said it would take 45 min and it took 2 hours. Then they told me I needed a new front bearing and that it would cost me $420. I went to another mechanic and all I needed was new tires. I asked the midas people about my tires and they told me they were fine. Their nothing but a bunch of lazy, lying, overpricing jerks and no one should give them business!!! more

Always gets it right on the first try. If you want to save ten bucks and maybe get it right on the second try the guy down the street is for you but if you want it done right the first time then this is the shop for you. more

I went to Midas to have the brakes on my car repaired. They were helpful, and accommodated my scheduling. They were able to check the car out right away as opposed to other shops that required me to drop off my car for several hours to check it out. The price was fair for new brakes and it took less time then anticipated. I'd go back there for any other work. more

got brake work done on an old car. Needed master cylinder replaced. Needed to bring it back 3 times because each new master cylinder was leaking, but they changed it. more

I went to this place when I was new in town. My car was indicating that it was over heated and the fluid started overflowing. It was summer so I was scared to drive my car, so I went here. They tested my car and said the thermometer was not working and needed replaced, as well as some tubing and valves. They seemed to kind of brush past me because I was a woman, but they weren't rude. Price was quite high - $250+, however, they told me they could do just part of the work for less money. I told them I'd come back with my husband, and turns out the test they did jiggled the car back into place because I've never had a heating problem since. PROS: Good hours, easy to reach CONS: Not great with women, high priced more
