My two sons started guitar lessons there, one with John and one with Jim. Both learned far more that just what note to play but music structure and composition. Over the years we bought at least 5 guitars, a trumpet, 2 keyboards and a few amps from Joe. He also set up and repaired several others we brought him. Everything was always 1st rate and on time.\r We moved out of MA last year and my son actually went back to Joe for a bass he wanted. Joe worked a deal and shipped to our new home. We've been looking for a music shop as good as Miconi's but guys like Joe and his crew are hard to find. And the start they gave my younger son set him on a path that just got him a music scholarship to college and he plans on being a music teacher. more

I brought in 3 basses for set up. Was told they would be done by the weekend, I asked ""if you dont call when ready should I come in or call?"" he replied ""I'm too busy to call"" which didnt really answer my question. When 3 days later I went in he said he completed work on 1 but couldnt continue because of the bad strings on 1 bass, when asked why he didnt move to the 3rd bass he did not answer. He said the strings were old and poor quality. I explained they were 2 weeks old and a good brand, he then replied they were put on wrong and it was ""a waste of his time"" to do the work without extra money. I wanted the strings left on it and he replied he ""wasnt comfortable doing a set up if he cant use the strings I recommend"". I paid $60 for the 1 bass when he quoted $35. Got it home and it was worse then when he worked on it. I went next day for other 2 and store was late opening and truss rod cover was missing on one, when asked where it was he ignored me and made a personal phone call. more

This place has been around forever! Mr Miconi has helped out more players that anyone. He's a great guy and been great with many people I know.\r He used let my band try stuff out on gigs befor we would buy it. Nobody does that!! \r He has a ton classic stuff too!\r \r As far as the bad prior review I read ......\r you know no other place would even have the part you were looking for thats why you went back....some things take time to get and in my dealings with Mr Miconi he has always tried to help a player out even if it took some time. Joe Miconi, the owner is a very nice guy and he is detail oriented. My son has been taking guitar lesson there for almost 3 years now. \r His teacher, Ron, is a great all around instructor. A very nice place to bring your children. Pros: great service more

havent gone miconis for years and have been dealing with guitar center but when i needed a piece for my bass guitar i figured id go in there and see if they've gotten better. NOPE! dropped of a piece so he could have his repair guy try to match it. JOE MICONI told me that yeah yeah ill have him look at it and get back to you. fast forward 3 WEEKS! couldnt find an exact match to the part i need but if i had to i could cut it to match it. WTF!!!!! cant wait to see what he tries to charge me for it! should've just brought it into guitar center from the get go Pros: no pros. Cons: everything more
