Worst groomer! What a joke, I wish I had read the reviews before I took my dog here. First of all the place smells awful, smells like cat urine, it's overwhelming. Second, I asked for a bath and brush, they shaved her! She is a Saint Bernard mix, you don't shave dogs with that type of coat in the winter, in freaking Truckee. They are unbelievably stupid people. I usually take her to petco where they do a fantastic job, and remember her every time. I thought that this time I would ""keep it local"", stupid me. I dropped her off at 9:30 and and when I picked her up at 2:30 she was shaved. They said she had too many matts which was total bull, I get her groomed on a regular basis and she had no more mats than she ever has. If she had so many mats they felt she needed a complete shave they should at least call the owner and make sure its ok first! The shave job itself is super crappy. If I had a dog that needed shaving, I would have been bummed anyway. It's all uneven, and you can see weird lines where the hair is really short. AND to top it off she cut one of my dogs nails too short and it was bleeding for hours. more

I came to Mickey's School of Grooming with no money, no job, and I was on the verge of losing my house. For some odd reason Mickey's chose to give me a chance and financed my tuition to become a groomer. I completed the 24 A.K.C. (American Kennel Club) standards of grooming courses in 2 weeks, and became a paid groomer. I am now the Assistant Manager of the Truckee Store. I am very appreciative of Mickey's for this vocational training that teaches gentle and caring grooming. I look forward to the next two years of my contract to train others in my past position of unemployment. Before Mickey's I had odd jobs, without the love and respect that all our pets give us. I have been taking my precious pup to Mickey's for a few years and I am AMAZED by how well they do their jobs. My pup runs into the shop because she loves, loves, loves all the attention. The shop is warm and welcoming. Mike and Rosemary run a first rate operation. Even cats are comfortable ... (can you imagine?) I will never take my dog anywhere else. The cuts and shampoos are totally SWANK! I've got the prettiest dog in town. more

Hello my name is Pam, I am a student at Mickey.s School of Grooming. I was unemployed for over 3 years, when I came into the school, I was applying for a job, but Rosemary explained that we are only interested in teaching grooming and want someone that wants a career. They gave me a work study student loan so I can earn money and learn grooming. I do have to pay back the loan but Mickey's has already offered me a job, full time, as a groomer/manager. Thank god for Mickey's they saved my life and gave me back my self respect. more

Mickeys was a poor excuse for a school. I really wanted to learn to groom dogs. They handed me a clipper my first day. WOW! you think they would have shown me how to use it first. But money is the object with Mickey's. I don't know how to groom and won't get my deposit back! Please anyone reading this do your homework they are con artists an feed on peoples dreams and those who have nothing else especially jobs. You become their slaves you work they get paid. 501 non profit on paper but you see nothing and get nothing more

I had a terrible experience here with my dog. The groomer clipped his nails down below the quick, applied a product to stop the bleeding, and didn't tell me that it had happened. When we got home and walked inside my dog tracked blood across the living room, which is when I realized how short his nails had been cut. I called Mickey's and they were belligerent, denying that it had happened. After several minutes attempting to deny the event the groomer abruptly changed his story and admitted that he'd cut the nails too short and caused bleeding. They refused to apologize, stating that "this just happens" and that "we usually tell the owners, but not always." They may be capable of giving your dog a bath - I wouldn't trust their ethics or technical abilities to handle anything else. more

Yeah, prices look reasonable for services... until you return to pick up your dog and they've doubled the cost because, "it took us over an hour to wash and brush your dog." more
