gardens, flowers, delight 4/16/2006

The MSU 4-H Children's Garden is located near other perennial gardens, including a large Rose garden. The Children's Garden has paths that lead wander past unique plots such as the pizza garden with herbs used to make pizza, a treehouse with unique stump steps, a hedge maze to wander thru, a Money bridge over a pond...and my favorite...the ground chimes...a delightful square of metal chimes located in the sidewalk that one jumps around on to create melodious sounds..makes me smile just thinking of it. The Children's Garden is delightful, but since you are right there, a stroll through the other gardens offers blooms of varying degrees throughout the growing season and is worth a visit, too. Visiting the gardens is a wonderful event for the senses. more

A Great Afternoon with the Kids 7/24/2005

Michigan State University is known for the agricultural aspect of the school, so it is fitting that MSU has a beautiful area on campus that is dedicated to flowers and plants. One area of the gardens is called the Children’s Garden. It is an area that children can explore and contains fun items like a tree house, a mock train to play in, winding paths, and frog-filled ponds. I do believe that the garden is free to visitors on the weekends, and parking is free. It’s a nice way to spend a weekend afternoon with your children. more
