Editorial review from Citysearch 10/12/2012

I would not recommend this OB/GYN to anyone. She was on call when I went into labor (not my normal dr). The first time I showed up at the hospital she sent me home, likely because it was 7pm and she didn't want to be up all night delivering a baby. I ended up going back to the hospital the next morning and my baby, that was head down the night before, was now transverse. They had to stop my contractions and manually turn him head down. If she would've let me stay the first night that I came, this wouldn't have happened. Since they had to stop my contractions they had to give me pitocin to start the contractions back up again. I was in labor for a total of 37 hours. Also, while I was pushing she came to me and said that my baby was in distress and that I needed to try harder to push him out or he wasn't going to make it. After he was born I questioned her about his status and she admitted that she only told me that so that I would try harder, and in fact there had never been any signs of distress with my baby. A bit before it came time to push a nurse told me to stop pushing the epidural button so that I would be able to feel how much I needed to push. Well, it made the epidural completely wear off. So by the time I got to pushing I could feel everything. I ended up tearing up and down. I knew when I tore up because I could feel it, and I screamed. Dr Chouteau then told me not to scream and to save my energy for pushing. Stupid bitch. If you could feel yourself tear up you would scream too. more

Careful and Compassionate 5/22/2012

I started seeing Dr. Choteau about a year ago when I moved from Austin to Houston. I have been impressed with the time she has spent with me to understand my medical problems, as well as the compassionate nature she has treated my medical issues. I have referred family and other people to her. I recommend her and have no concerns. more

Great Doctor and staff!! 2/7/2012

I have used Dr. Chouteau for two pregnancies. She and her staff work well together and are very easygoing. Dr. Chouteau spends quality time with her patients and is sure to answer all questions and address any concerns. I have never felt ""rushed"" or ""hurried"" out. Also, she is very gentle and let's you know what she is doing as she goes along during a procedure. I recommend her to anyone who's asks for an excellent OB/GYN!! more

Very pleased patient 11/22/2011

I recently read a review on Dr. Chouteau that was very negative. I disagree with the review. I have been seeing Dr. Chouteau for years and she is a very caring and attentive doctor. She takes the time to have a one on one conversation and answer all your questions. She is very knowledgeable and has integrety. She has a very caring staff. I would recommend her to anyone and have many times. more

I would NEVER recommend this ob-gyn to ANYONE 10/11/2011

I would never recommend Dr. Chouteau to anyone. With my first pregnancy, I had no signs of any problem but I was having a hard time getting a postive pregnancy test. Due to the negative pregnancy test and a sonogram of a supposed fetus which had stopped developing, I was coldly handed a pamphlet about miscarriages. After blood tests confirmed my pregnancy was indeed there and indeed continuing I was told that I just ovulated late. EXCUSE ME? I walked around thinking I was carrying a dead baby for a week. I went on to deliver a beautiful perfect NINE POUND GIRL. This made me develop post traumatic stress disorder and during my second pregnancy (which did end in miscarriage) she was not understanding of my severe anxiety and denied me medication that would've done more harm than good for the developing baby. ABSOLUTELY - no excuse. DO NOT GO TO HER. more

She was a great doctor today 2/8/2011

SHE WAS AWESOME. She had a short and easy one-on-one in her office, her staff was super sweet and clear, she WAS FAST in the exam but thorough and even explained to me when she was touching my ovaries and how everything felt/looked. She answered ALL of my questions--even the stupid ones--and could give me a good idea of how my symptoms fit in with the ""general"" patterns most women have. I've had a lot of docs just say ""every woman is different"" and ""it depends,"" but she was able to provide more clarity and direction than that. It was great! more

Dr. Chouteau makes it easy! 9/25/2008

Dr. Chouteau was my obstetrician and she made it easy for me to put my faith in her. She listens and offers solutions. I've had doctors who barely get their entire body in the room. Not Dr. Chouteau! She is smart and thorough. She didn't get to deliver my baby because he came nearly before even I could get to the hospital. Even though he was already delivered, she still came to the hospital and checked on us in the middle of the night. I agree with the other reviewer; she has a good bedside manner. Pros: Kind and Caring, putting her patients at ease in situations which are, let's face it, very uncomfortable Cons: can't think of any more

I recommend highly 6/18/2006

Good bedside manners, she actually listens to what you say and she makes the time to see you. She makes you feel like your her only patient..She has delivered two of my kids, if I could have more she would deliver those too...I highly recommend her. I got my mother and sisters going to her now and they are just as pleased as I am. Pros: lshe listens, good bedside manners, returned calls Cons: cant say there is any more
