Michaels-Arts & Crafts

When I need craft supplies, I prefer Michaels to Hobby Lobby. It's still primarily a craft store, whereas H.L. has so much home décor. The crafts are so spread out around the perimeter. I like the ease of shopping at Michaels. It's smaller, so it's easier and faster to navigate from beading to scrap book supplies and so forth. I have always found the cashiers helpful and friendly. And I like the fact that Michaels has honored Hobby Lobby coupons. Hobby Lobby did not honor Michaels coupons last time I checked (unless that has changed). Also, Michaels has better coupon deals at various times throughout the year, including discounts on your entire purchase, not just on a single item. And they are open on Sunday. Hobby Lobby isn't. more

I used to go here because that was the only place to get all my geeky craft supplies. Now it seems kind of dingy. I much prefer Hobby Lobby. Michael's doesn't have that great of a selection, though they have a lot of "stuff." I do like that they offer classes though (painting, crafts, etc). The "hit or miss" part comes when I analyze their staff. I went in there one time and asked about how to apply for a job there because I saw an ad. I got looked at like I was a freak from outer space and the woman I spoke with rudely told me I had to go online. Sometimes when you go through the line, the cashier's very upbeat and friendly; other times, you're lucky to get a word out of them other than your total. more
