The food was good and it was on time. Although, in the past, it has been consistently really late. more

Usually fantastic - They blow off the "extra instructions" like: Extra Thick Shake (I'll pay for 2 if need be) or Extra Butter or Extra Jam ....They blow that off quite often - Beside that bit, they are very consistent and delivery is always quick! more

Not great meals 10/1/2009

Ordered once late night over the phone while taking a cab home. Came in to pay with my credit card and got yelled at that I should have asked, it doesn't always work and that there was an ATM. Luckily, ha, it worked. I guess he was just too lazy to swipe it before..?\r \r Got shrimp tonite. AWFUL. I mean BAD SHRIMP. Smelled bad, tasted foul and the kicker is that my shrimp parm sandwich and side of fries cost $17.00?!?! WHAT?!?!? I called to tell them that their shrimp was bad and they told me they would give me credit next time. THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT TIME! $17.00 for a sandwich I can't eat! For rude service?! Go down the street to Sanfords...much better!!! Pros: Fast, I guess Cons: Bad seafood, Rude latenight. more

convenient location - ok food 4/7/2009

I do agree they sometimes mess up orders and couple of people are rude or just quick on the phone. It is frustrating. But the food is quite good, except that prices keep going up and there are extra charges for stuff. We would order much more often or dine there if prices were just a bit more acceptable for us. Other people don't seem to mind though, it is always busy. Pros: food comes fast, good service when dining in Cons: phone orders rushed and messed up sometimes more

Great Diner 4/7/2009

I love this place. I discovered it when I first moved to the neighborhood on a friends recommendation. I have never had a bad meal here. The specials are always good and I especially like brunch here. They have excellent coffee (always a plus in a diner). And they do delivery! The only problem is the guy who answers the phone for delivery orders...he is quite rude, gets your address, phone, takes the order and hangs-up...no thank you, no nothing. And it is always the same guy! But if that is my only complaint, I'm doing good. It is the reason I didn't give them a five starts though. Pros: Always good food and the best coffee in the neighborhood Cons: the guy who answers the phone to take orders more

Homestyle quality at its finest! 4/1/2009

Living in New York means that you are accustomed to having it the best. Waterfront view apartments, superb fashion, and of course fine cuisine. However, there is one problem. And that is: Where do I want to eat tonight?\r Well, one thing is for sure this is not easily answered. Whether you are looking for Chinese, Italian, Spanish, or Greek, New York has it all. That is especially true in the outer borough neigborhood of Astoria.\r Michael's Restaurant, which is located at 33-17 Broadway, Astoria, N.Y. 11106 delivers on quality of food, service, decor, and pricing. Whether you are in the mood for a lamb chops prepared Greek style with garlic, lemon, and potatoes, or a traditional gyro, this speak easy caters to all taste buds.\r Some regulars think of this place as a diner, while others consider it a restaurant. Having come here for over 2 years, I am not too concerned about what it is but how delicious the food is. And at Michael's it is EXCELLENT!!!!\r I generally like to order the roasted chicken panini or the lamb chops with potatoes. It depends what mood I am in and what time of the day it is. No matter what the case may be, I am still satisfied on all of the dishes that are served here.\r With years of experience going to restaurants and owning them, I can tell you that Angelou, who is the owner of Michael's Restaurant executes flawlessly. His staff is friendly and his food is superb. What else can one ask for?\r Well, he also has special pastry chefs that come in to prepare the fresh deserts. Whether you like cheesecake, rice pudding, or chocolate moose, there is something here to suit your needs.\r The restaurant is open 24/7 so there is no need to book a reservation, except for holidays. That's when it can be hectic. But don't worry, Angelou will take of all of your party needs. \r My suggestion is to order ***ANYTHING*** on the menu. Once you dine at Michael's you will not go to any other diner in Astoria or New York for that matter. Go have some food and tell Angelou that Marc sent you.\r \r \r \r Marc R. \r Astoria, N.Y. Pros: Excellent Food; Superb Service; Friendly Staff; Nice Decor Cons: N/A more

OMG - Michael's, where've you been all my life??? 6/30/2008

Hands down, BEST diner in Astoria... and I had a semi-bad-experience!! (Read on).\r Went in for the first time this past weekend - I was excited to check it out and walk right by uncle george's. (They're horribly rude in there). When we got into Michael's everyone was super-friendly. We waited quite some time for our waitress, but once she got to us, she was downright pleasant. The bread came out and was a bit stale, but the appetizer was to-die-for... fresh ingredients, DELICIOUS! Then... the salad.... oh my, I'll dream about that salad. Not sure what they have in their italian vinegrette, but I'm dreaming of it. It was fantastic!! Main course - my husband ordered the filet mignon and loved it, I ordered stuffed chicken something and unfortunately had a part of the chicken uncooked.... (it's a serious sized breast, so it didn't cook long enough). It was fine, because they were extremely apologetic, offered to make me one to take home, etc. I really didn't need it and was fine, but the sides were even worth dancing about.... seriously, if you haven't tried Michael's, you should - My big recommendation, just don't order stuffed chicken. \r \r Have some patience & the food will make up for anything else that could go wrong. We were even happy to see they had the football (soccer) game on!\r \r Pros: convenient location and DELICIOUS FOOD!!!!!!! Cons: one bad experience with chicken, but I'll be back. more

The delivery took an hour and 20 mins and then the food wasn't that great. I was really disappointed! more

Phone guy's rude, but it's convenient and tasty. 5/13/2008

The guy who ALWAYS seems to answer the phone is a bit rude (all he says is ""address""; ""what you want?""; and ""bye.""). Other than that, the place is great. Open 24 hours, good menu, quick delivery, and tasty food. Pros: Quick delivery; open 24 hours; tasty food. Cons: Poor service. more

Every dish made with fresh ingredients. Recommend the inexpensives lunch specials. Great Greek salad. Sole Florentine delicious as well as the egg plant parmesian. Fish dinners tasty. Excellent burgers. Good hard working staff. Took the stove out of our apartment. This is our kitchen. Angelo, the manager, super conscientious. Pros: Good, dependable meals with fresh ingredients. Conscientious service Cons: Parking on street. Standard dishes. more

Be weary of what they charge you. They are snakes slithering in grass.... 12/6/2006

Good food. Convenient as they are open 24 hours per day. The menu options are overwhelming. BEWARE: Check your bill in depth. THey will add fugazi charges. Make sure you do not get cheated. For example, they add addition charges, i.e. for Tin Foil Bowl charge for delivery. They also routinely change their prices. Prices are rediculously high. I ordered a Cheese Omlet with Corn Beef hash. The final bill, $13.10. Seems a bit a high for the latter order. Biggest rip-off in Astoria. They cover the basics, they do make good food. Fast 24 hour delivery. Just make sure they do not cheat you on the bill. Very shady and dishonest penny pinching restaurant. BEWARE. Also, speak slowly, they have a hard time understanding th English language. Every order I have made has had at least one mistake. Again, check your bill with a fine tooth comb. Shady operation. Service is a joke. Will run u off the phone, as if they are doing you a favor. Pros: Food is good. Convenient, open 24 hours a day, diverse menu Cons: Prices are rediculous. Service is a joke, ""If I had one complaint it's the guy on the phone can be a bit gruff when calling in for delivery""....he is Greek, what more to say! more

Best service anywhere, affordable and great food 12/3/2006

Michaels is bar none my favorite diner in Astoria. The waitstaff is great - ask for Cari - and you'll always be treated to a great meal. I highly recommend the Cobb salad and their tzatziki. Coffee is always great... I could go on and on. \r

\r If I had one complaint it's the guy on the phone can be a bit gruff when calling in for delivery. Other than that, enjoy! Pros: Tzatziki, Coffee, Cari Cons: ... guy on phone can be a little difficult to speak with more
