I?ve been to Italy several times, and even attended cooking schools there. I have yet to find a restaurant in the US that reminds me as much of Italy as Mezzo Mondo does. My husband and I eat here regularly and always have excellent meals ? in fact, it?s our favorite Italian restaurant outside of Italy. It has a nice open atmosphere, but is not overly loud as many LA restaurants tend to be. While it?s not inexpensive, for LA the prices are fair for the quality and service you receive, and they have many dishes I go back for over and over again. My favorite at the moment is the home made spinach ravioli in sage butter sauce? what a TREAT! They have a nice wine selection and the owner and his wife are always gracious. You won?t go wrong here.
Pros: Great food, nice atmosphere, good wine, good hosts.
Cons: Parking can be a challenge on Ventura blvd.
