Mezza Cuisine

We went to Mezza last weekend for the first time with a few friends- the dinner buffet was great! I thought $11 was a little steep for greek food, but once I saw all the items on the buffet I decided it was well worth it. And then, a few minutes into the meal, we got a whole plate of fresh gyro meat and bread. Yum! My only concern was that the dishes on the buffet weren't being refilled, so there were several things we didn't all get to try. The "dessert bar" was straight of of the cookie aisle at the grocery, but I didn't go for (or have room for) anything sweet. Chef Sam seems to be the host, server, cook and cashier- somehow he pulls it off, and is entertaining to boot. I'll definitely go back, even without a coupon. This place is awesome. Chef Sam apparently owns and operates, by himself, the entire restaurant. We went for the $11 buffet and were extremely impressed with the variety and the flavor. He uses fresh spices to cook with and it makes a difference. About 10 minutes into the meal and we were already planning for a return visit. Halfway through the meal, Chef Sam brought a huge plate of gyro meat that he had just prepared and sat it in the middle of our table. He then proceeded to take one to each of the other tables. It was the best gyro I had ever tasted in my life. Mezza also offers a Hooka bar, but we ate entirely too much to stay and enjoy that on this trip. They stay open until 2a.m. every night of the week except Sunday for the Hooka and patrons are invited to bring cards, laptops, books and just hang out. Everyone should give Mezza a try. By far, this is the best greek restaurant around. The Gyro sandwich is one of their specialties, you can tell the chef/owner takes pride in his food and the service is great. He will explain his food and take the time to give you personal service. The price is modest for such a large, quality portion. You gotta try the Gyro!!
