I would NEVER recommend this hospital to anyone I care about! My mother was just released from there. What should have been a 2 to 3 day stay turned into a 3 1/2 week ICU nightmare. She went in with complications from her COPD, and left with the Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) ""Superbug"" in her lungs. There is no question....she contracted it from being intibated there, and from being on one of their ventilators. Methodist North Hospital is dirty and neglected...to say the very least. There is literally an inch of thick, green mold growing inside the windows of some patient rooms. The bathrooms are disgusting. The ""cleaning"" staff never once sprayed or wiped anything down the whole time we were there...much less, used any BLEACH! My mother even pointed out food in the floor that had been there since before she was transferred into that room. The woman just took her ""Swiffer"" and ran it over the pile one time. It is a joke. I'm only speaking of the cleaning crew right now, but they were all lazy....with terrible attitudes. If we asked them to do anything, they all acted like it wasn't there job. Now, the nurses that were actually taking care of my mother were usually very nice. They were good to her, and sweet when you asked them any questions. But, that isn't enough to make up for a potentially fatal, drug-resistant staph infection! This facility is on the decline at a rapid pace. If you have a choice, I suggest you choose anywhere else!!
Pros: The nurses are very nice, physicians seem knowledgeable, and the location is convenient.
Cons: It's dirty, and has a lot of cases where patients are contracting staph from being treated there.
