Saved my Cats Life!! 6/30/2011

SAVED MY CATS LIFE Dr Kamal saved my cats life, right now after having an operation and no job with very little money, he gave me a great deal on my cats operation. He would have died without Dr Kamals help. He was patient and compassionate. My cats only 4 1/2 and hopefully has many years ahead thanks to this Dr. more

Another five stars for Dr. Kamal 6/22/2011

""Another five stars for Dr. Kamal. The newest edition to our family, Frito - a chihuahua I found in the alley behind my house - had a severe eye infection. His eyes were swollen shut and full of gunk and he was lethargic and generally behaving as though he felt very ill. Jeff and I took him to Dr. Kamal right away. I told him that I thought he may have been scratched in the eye by our cat whom Frito is constantly harassing. He said he wanted to do an eye stain to see if there was any damage to the cornea and warned us that it cost $50. I asked him if he could give us a special anniversary discount (since it was our anniversary) and he said """"Yes - free!"""" That sounded like a damn good discount. He put some fluid in Frito's eyes and then examined them with an ultra-violet light. He said there did seem to be a scratch in one of his eyes. He then showed us how to apply the medicine that Frito would need, gave us some instructions and off we went. The cost included $15 for the office visit and $28 for two meds: antibiotics and pain medication. $43 for everything and Frito was well on his way to recovery by the day. I have to take him back next week for a follow-up exam for which Dr. Kamal doesn't charge anything. He rules!"" more

Great people great place 6/20/2011

Thank God for people like Dr Kamal If there were more people like Dr Kamal this world will be a better place. He is always willing to help you take care of your pet at his best care and at an affordable cost. He gives you more than you can afford because he cares about your animal. What else would it be? I want to see that he gets the good karma back. He is a good and honest veterinarian, like it should be. more

Great experience 6/14/2011

""This Morning I was forced to run to the nearest vet possible, my 2 show dogs had gotten in to rat poison some how. I was a nervouse wreck Dr. Kamal was so nice a calmed me down took the dogs told me what he was going to do. I told him I was unemployed and he said he would not do any thing that was not necessary, I think just by this first visit I will make Dr. Kamal my regular vet. His first concern was not money but the dogs. thats very important to me"" more

All around great place 6/7/2011

I found this vet from adopting a kitten from one of the agencys that goes into the pet stores. This vet makes them a deal, as they are non profits and trying to find homes for strays. I kept going to him. When my 1 year old had a high fever, he sent me to the hospital, where my cat was admitted. This vet drove to the pet hospital to visit my cat while he was there! What vet does that?? Awesome! more

Amazing 6/1/2011

If you are experiencing financial hardship and need to care for your pets, don't give up!! I found a kind and good doctor who is honest and gives good advice it was worth all the trouble. My dog is dying slowly with a bad heart and all I want for my dog is to be comfortable and if not be told when it's best to put her down. I don't want her to suffer any pain. Yet, I am not prepared for the inevitable. Luckily I found this vet by chance, Dr. Kamal of Mercy Animal Medical Center in North Long Beach in the yellow pages. Being on welfare and using my rent money to help my dog is not very practical as a single mom. What else can I do? My dog is no different from my son. Except I had her for 12 yrs and my son just turned three. This doctor surprised me because after he consulted with me for almost 30 minutes he advised me to go to see a specialist and use his office visit fee towards the consultation at Advanced Veterinary Care Center. In today's economy every one is hurting. Maybe you, or me I cannot express the gratitude I felt for this person. That's why I am telling every body about Dr. Kamal. You just got to meet him. more

I only trust them 5/24/2011

Dr.Kamal and his staff are the nicest and most knowledgeable individuals. Dr.Kamal is always attentive and good to my pets all three of them. I came here on a recommendation from my sister and now come here for all of my three dogs. He even stayed open until 8pm when my dog was bitten by a large dog (mind you he closes at 6) and took the time to put my dog through surgery and his assistant she was so great at explaining all the medications. He and his staff are wonderful, now I only trust them with my pets. more

Always helpful 5/20/2011

Always helpful, always caring Dr Kamal has helped us with our dog in extremely disparate times both at a critical juncture in our pet's health, and tough financial times for us. He is caring and offers comfort and concern, while providing excellent diagnoses and proper treatment. I would recommend Mercy Animal Hospital to ANYONE ANYTIME. They are wonderful! more

Cruel & Uncaring!!!! 3/5/2011

March 4, 2011\r I was driving down Cherry ave when the car in front of me ran over a small black and white cat. I saw the cat was still alive and struggling so I stopped, got out of my car, and picked up the poor cat. I love animals, but this isn't something I would normally do. However, I knew there was a Vet hospital a few yards away so I wrapped the cat in a few sheets of paper that I had in my car, and rushed to the Mercy Animal Medical Center. \r When I got there, I was greeted by the worst lady you would ever imagine working for a vet hospital! I calmly explained to her what had happened, while at the same time holding the poor cat in my arms. The cat had broken bones, was bleeding, urinating all over the place, and going in and out of consciousness. He/she was obviously in pain and was dying and needed help. \r The lady at the front desk was mean and repeatedly stated that she could NOT help me! Now, what did she mean she could NOT help me? I think she forgot she wor more

UNSANITARY AND UNFIT TO CARE FOR ANIMALS! 12/6/2010

I BEG YOU...DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE! \r \r It is not only a completely non sterile facility but it is all together unsanitary! The runs where dogs stay are constantly damp and dirty, metal cages where the rest of the animals stay are also filthy. Animals barely have a scrap of towel to lay on and the ventilation is non-existent. The doctor and his staff are untrained and unfit to be caring for the animals in my opinion and although caring individuals are NOT making the animals well being a priority. There are dirty, old, USED syringes that are laying in an open tupperware with the can opener they use to open dog food and probably their lunch resting on top..and this is in the ultra-"sanitary" isolation room! The rest of the facility is in utter disorganization and just plain filthy as well! \r \r I have been working at animal hospitals for 9 years and have never been more dismayed by what I witnessed at Mercy Animal Medical. Please, if you care about your pet at all, do not b more

Excellent Care Over the Years 2/16/2009

I have been going to Mercy Animal Medical Center since 1983. All my animal companions are rescue and have had special needs. For 26 years, Mercy Animal Medical Center has provided excellent care for them all. At one time during a move from one house to another, the Medical Center boarded my cats and dogs, who had no adverse affects from the experience. The staff has changed over the years, of course, but not the attention to my animals and my concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Ibrahim and his staff. more

Abusive 12/2/2008

I took my dog to Mercy on a referral from a friend who didn't realize the doctor and staff were not the same as when he had boarded his dogs. The doctor was terribly rude when I dropped my dog off and when I came to pick him up, they asked me if I could come back in two hours so they could bathe him first. I came back in two hours and despite what the nurse had told me was two bathings, my dog smelled and his white coat was yellow. The nurse then tried to get me to wait for her to wash his blankets. I said not to worry, I would do it myself. When I got home and opened the plastic bag with my dog's two blankets in it, it reeked of urine and feces. I was mortified! The stench was so bad I nearly fainted. My (house trained) dog must have sat in a cage for days with NO attention whatsoever. I am heartbroken over what my dog must have endured. How can anyone claim to care about animals when they treat them like this. I will never, ever go back there again and I hope the health department sh more
