First of all they call all the time and do not have any accurate information about anyone. They also break ever consumer credit law by releasing information about people to complete strangers. I think they actually purchase lists of debts that have been written off by creditors, and they try to extort money out of people, mostly because people do not know their rights as consumers. Make them mail you the information otherwise known as ""proof of debt"", if they cannot do that tell them to f@ck off! Do not fall for the ""we will settle for this dollar amount, if you give us your credit card number now""! Just block the calls it will be your best course of action, or call the New York attorney general and turn them in for breaking the law.
