Menards

My dad has spent so much money at Menards, probably more than most people spend on groceries in their lifetime. Today he went in to the Clive Menards and needed to return extra tile. The lady at the customer service counter set out a pen on the counter. He was looking through his receipt when she started accusing him of taking the pen of the counter. He told her he didn't take the pen. She then got her manager into the conversation and they both started being rude and saying he took the pen. They said,"" If you find it when you get home bring it back."" He said he didn't take the pen and offered to give them $20 for a regular pen because he knows he didn't take it. They still kept accusing him. He returned the tile and went home. Just now, I came back from work and called him and he told me what had happened and I called Manards and the office manager I believe her name is Sally said that she is going to look through the tape that happened during the time frame that we was in there and see who was working. I had told her that this is the worst customer service he has ever received and he has shopped there for over 14 years. I personally live in Ankeny and I love the Ankeny store. During Black Friday though, I was reconsidering shopping their when I saw one of the men who worked there shove a lady on the ground as she was trying to go into Menards and accusing her of going into the line and not waiting even though I saw the lady waiting there. more

The associates on the floor a great. However if you need to return something and have to deal with the rude women at the customer service disk it turn into a bad situation and do not bother complaining to the manager she is non caring and just as rude! more

I just had a kid checked me out at this store on Hickman; while he was ringing up the items, he damaged two of my American flag items; then, he just stood there and told me to bag my own items; when I spoke with a lady there in somewhat higher position, she said that for last one year, they make their customers bag their items unless requested help by the customer. The store itself is very good but I did not understand why they would keep multiple items on the belt and turn away from the customer. I even had to request to turn the belt up so that my items could be reached. As to the American flag stickers, I requested for new ones and they were rendered to me. I have shopped at Manards for more than 20 years. They need to at least help customers with putting purchased items in the bags. This is both good for the store and the customer both, IMHO. Pros: Decent store; decent premises; good variety; well lighted Cons: Poor customer service; No help in bagging purchased goods. NO SMILE. more
