Very Surprised 4/26/2011

New to the area and have really been missing my favorite sushi place in my old town. Did a web search for sushi and came across MOJ. It is defiantly in a weird location, down from walmart but parking is easy enough. The atmosphere is unremarkable but it was clean and had more then enough seating, our party consisted of my husband, two year old grand baby and myself and was seated at a comfortable booth. Probably my only complaint is they do not have a childrens menu :( it would be nice to have tempura battered chicken and frys for the younger crowd, but we made do with some crackers from my purse and nibblings from the grown up plates. We stared off with the tempura vegetables and fried calamari, the veggies were very good even the sweet potatoe which I have never had that way, the calamari was not too my liking, the pieces were too large and very tough, I wont be ordering it again. We started off with a salad, it was very bland, pretty much just iceberg lettuce, it was very fresh though, with some sweetish mustard sauce that was not to our liking. The Miso soup however was delicious, very light flavor and not salty like some I have had before. Our main plates arrived, my husband ordered the spicey rolls, he enjoyed all of them, there was one that had a sort of salmon pate in the middle and the texture was a little weird but the taste again delicious. I had the sushi combo, tuna was excellent, the salmon was very fatty tasting and on the verge of being tough, the eel I cannot really comment on as I have found that I dont have the taste for it, however it was still eaten, if you dont try it you wont know if you dont like it ! My cali roll was fresh and delicious. No desert as we was stuffed, the other review was right when they said there was a ton of food. The service was very fast and they checked on us without being intruding. The only bad thing is if you want your rolls on soy papers ( pink soy is awesome ) you have to pay 1.00 extra per roll, the cost of both ingredients are very similar so I dont understand why the charge, there are many who do not like the traditional seaweed so maybe something to think about. I look forward to going back and trying something else from the menu, I have had worse sushi for more money, this place is very decent on price and on product and service and I am sure will become a favorite spot of mine in the future. more

Great Sushi - good value! 10/10/2010

We love this place! But it is a lot of food. Be prepared to take home a doggie bag. more

Nasty, disgusting, filthy 4/23/2010

Watch the waitress pick up the to go container of kid's and cheater's chopsticks from the floor and put them back on to the counter for customer use. I thought about just putting them into the trash myselfbut instead I told the waitress what I saw. She took the container into the back instead of putting them into the trash can behind the desk, draw your own conclusions. I know and I will NEVER go back. Filthy pink carpet that is black in the high traffic areas. Everything on the table sticky and smeary. Salmon Roe was sweet tasting certainly something was very wrong with that! My 8 year old loves it and has never turned it down. She refused it. Cons: Filthy more

Absolutely Wonderful 12/20/2008

I've tried every sushi bar around and in Tulsa, and I must say this one stands out. If you are dining in, the parking is wonderful, the seating has always been fast, the wait staff is great, but most importantly the food is EXCELLENT! I eat here every Sunday, and I have had just about everything on the menu. It all rocks. The place doesnt smell fishy like some sushi bars, it's extremely clean, and you get your food fast at a great price. Their combos are the best choice for your money. You can get stuffed for about 15 bucks, which is awesome at a sushi bar in my opinion. Their take out is just as wonderful, and just as quick. If I could give six stars I would. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Best sushi around. 9/18/2008

I am an absolute fanatic when it comes to sushi. This is the best restruant i have been to in a long time. the food is good, the prices are reasonable, and the wait staff are very friendly. This is a must for all sushi lovers. Pros: parking, service, friendly staff. more

Best Sushi/Sashimi value in the area 7/20/2008

Have been to many Japanese restaurants in the U.S. and Japan and Memories of Japan is one of the better ones I have been to. Always stop in whenever I am in the area visiting family. Always a family affair. Great selection of sushi and sashimi, very well done, excellent presentation, great atmosphere, good service. Definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area. Without even noticing the WalMart near by. Pros: Service, courteous, excellent value, good location Cons: Beer could be colder for me, minor issue since the food is so good. more

One of the better Sushi restaurants in the greater Tulsa area 6/4/2007

We were surprised by this restaurant. This little hole in the wall (strip mall with a dirty Walmart by it) was actually very good! The bento lunches were a great value. The california rolls were fresh, the chicken was tender, and service was excellent. We also ordered Udon noodles expecting a bowl, instead it came out in a dish (pan fried). This was a pleasant surprise... very tasty. Next time we will try the udon soup... Compliments to the chef! Keep up the good work! Pros: Value, Fresh Sushi, Service Cons: Next to a Walmart more

Great Food, Great Price. 1/18/2006

Extremely tasty food for a very cheap price. One of the best sushi I have had in Tulsa. The lunch menu is a great bargain, you can get more food for a cheaper price at this time. I highly recommend this place. Pros: Tasty food, Great portions, Great atmosphere more

Best Sushi Place In Oklahoma 12/15/2005

This is one of the best places (& cheapest) for sushi and Japanese food in Tulsa & the state of OK. I have been eating here since it opened. The food is delectable for a wonderful price. Best offer is the ""sushi boat for two"" for less than $20, U get your choice of Chef's special roll, California roll, 6 pieces of sushi, starter of your choice, miso soup. I highly recommend the Lion King, its a terrible name but tastes wonderful. The service is courteous & quick, the ambience/decor is comfortable. Pros: Great Prices, Good sized rolls/sush, Great service Cons: Small restaurant more

Excellent Food! Excellent Value! 11/24/2005

This is easily one of the best restaurants in Tulsa for sushi as well as Japanese food. It is also one of the cheapest. The food is excellent, very fresh, very well prepared and creative. The atmosphere is not trendy, but then, neither is the price. I can easily eat lunch there for under $10.00 even with green tea and a tip. The service is prompt and friendly. This place can be a little tricky to find, it's in a shopping center with Walmart, but it is well worth the search. This is one of the hidden jewels of the Tulsa Metro Area. Pros: Great food, Good Value, Excellent service Cons: atmosphere, odd location more

Brought me back to my own memories of Japan! 6/16/2005

2 miso soups, an order of edamame, a california roll, an avocado roll, 2 green teas, tako sashimi, and a fried banana- Grand total= $22!!!!!! Oh hello! Weird location (near Wal-Mart) but excellent service, atmosphere, and most definitely food! more

on Average.. 7/18/2004

the sushi here is very good. no complaints. BUT, do not try the chicken! it's not breast meat & it's chewy. a big disappointment considering i love chicken teriyaki. on an end note, they do offer a variety of Japanese desserts, incl. the fried banana & tempura ice cream. nice atmosphere. more
