Best

The Service is wonderful and the employees are always polite. Your meal slides out inside a acceptable time frame and taste awesome. What else can you look for in a restaurant?

Muy Delicioso 7/25/2008

I like Mely's........a LOT. The food is plentiful, the service is always attentive, the hot sauce and chips are always fresh, and each dish is served loaded with fresh cheese and refried beans. Pros: Friendly Service, Big Portions, Fresh salsa & chips more

We can't seem to go 1 week without! 7/13/2008

We have a very hard time going more than one week without a trip to Mely's! Even our son (who certainly is not drawn by the yummy frozen margaritas) craves Mely's after just 7 days. Service has always been excellent. Andres was the first to remember our order, so we usually ask for him, but Edgar and Priscilla and Renee (and I'm sure the others) are all great. To newcomers: too bad you won't get to see some of the creative transformation - the intricate tropical mural on the wall in the bar is now a more neutral gold paint. The faux bricks and stones on the wall in the center dining room are now gone, but the room is gaining a new look. The creativity abounds and the transformations are fun to watch from week to week. Some friends were visiting in Spring from Central America and enjoyed the atmosphere. A 6-week old niece visting remained captivated by the artwork above her on the ceiling. My in-laws cannot stand a visit without a trip - and Andres miraculously remembered my father-in-law's drink order from his visit 6 months prior!!! When we first arrived in League City, we felt too much of the menu was covered in heavy cheese sauce or gravy, but the menu has continued to grow and we manage to have a variety of favorites: carne asada, tacos al carbon, enchiladas verdes, pollo loco, fajita nachos, chicken tortilla soup, . . . Add Mely's as your regular weekly dinner spot! - Oh - and the margaritas are potent - perhaps best to follow up the first with a Landshark or something more tame! Pros: Service!! Creativity! Food! Convenient - we should really walk there Cons: no patio space yet to enjoy nicer weather with our great service & food! more

Good location 6/1/2008

I have been going to Mely's for as long as I can remember. I guess a lot of it is because of location, it takes my family about 5 minutes to get there, meybe less. more

favorite restourant!!! 4/18/2008

iv been going there ever since i moved to league city. I dont really understand all of the bad reviews about service , they all know me from going there so long maybe thats why the are always so nice. I always get the same thing, mixed fajita nachos and pour the queso all over them and it is delisious. more

BAD MEXICAN FOOD, BAD BAD SERVICE! STAY AWAY!!! 3/21/2008

Pathetic rude service. I was a first time customer, walked in at lunch and they were rude, rude, rude. Pros: NONE WHATSOEVER Cons: ALL more

Avoid at all costs 1/29/2008

1. I am very disappointed with Mely's! I have lived in the League City area for 20 years and been to Mely's a few times. I keep giving it another try b/c I think to myself,""maybe it was just a bad day for them"" Well it is official, Mely's has terrible food, terrible service, and it is WAY over priced! The waitress was ok except for the fact that two of the people accompanying me were out of drinks for way too long and there were only one or two other tables that she was waiting on. The food took entirely too long. When we finally got our food my husband?s plate was not what he expected. He ordered fajitas for one. His plate was made up of a heaping pile of onions and maybe 3 to 4 oz. of meat. We called a bus boy over, b/c we could not find our waitress, and he sent the manager over. She came over after a minute and immediately had a bad attitude. My husband explained that this is not what he expected. She said something to the fact that there is nothing she can do just because it wasn't enough or what he expected. He asked if there was anything she could do and she said NO. He told her he was not going to pay for this and he would order something different. Again she said NO. He ended up not eating his food. When we got the check I walked to the counter and asked the same manager to take the fajitas off and I walked away. My daughter and I went to the restroom and he got the check without the fajitas on it. Our family (of 3)?s meal was still a 65 dollar meal with out the fajitas. When she dropped the check off she told my husband they ""did not need our business here again"". Well, there were only six tables including us that night at what was supposed to be the dinner rush, so it looks like they did need business. (Although their high prices probably make up for that.) They will no longer get my friends or family's business! more

Worst owner/management ever! what a let down 1/18/2008

first of all, the woman who owns this place should not be owning or managing a restaurant. i put in a to-go order a few days ago, but an emergency arose so i unfortunately was unable to pick up the food. a few days later i over heard some of the waiters talking (because i went there for lunch) saying that the owner tried to make the man who was working behind the counter doing ""to-go's"" pay for the food i didn't pick up. this infuriated me. i spoke to the man who'm had taken my order and told them that he'd better refuse to pay that, that it was ridiculous that he would be liable in the first place! i mean, that happens to a lot of restaurants, and if they are not in the right place financially to lose out on one to go order, that should not do to-go's period. not to mention, that the owner put a 15 YEAR OLD GIRL in a management position!! 15 year olds have no judgement! what if something bad happened and the police were called, does this owner expect her 15 year old manager to be able to respond with full knowledgable details to police officers?!?! anyways, i loved it, up until now. i will never buy another thing from there as long as i live. more

Pretty good for a strip mall 10/30/2007

this place has improved a lot over the last few years. They are quick with the chips and salsa, along with iced tea, big glasses of water and coooold Coronas. It's a good place for a quick lunch or a family dinner, but I don't think I'd try to take a date there. Just feels too much like a strip center. more

Great mexican food! 6/28/2007

I was surprised when I read the bad remarks from a couple people on Mely's. Mely's is in a great location in South Shore Harbor. The menu is extensive and you get a great value for ALOT of food. The sauces are good and the top shelf margaritas are worth every penny. I've never had seafood but don't usually order seafood at a mexican food restaurant. The enchiladas and the tamales are really good. The taco beef has a good flavor. The service is all right but has never been exceptional. I've never had awful service but there has been times it could've been better. It is worth the trip. Pros: Great mexican food and salsa. Top shelf ritas... Cons: Service is iffy; restrooms could be cleaner... more

Bad Food, Bad Margaritas, Good Service 3/2/2007

This restaurant is a good example of the value of location. It is the local mexican food spot to go. People go because you see your friends and it is kid friendly. The food is lousy. The margaritas are bad. The sangria is terrible. The food is always overcooked. The seafood is inedible. The pork is like leather. And I am partly responsible, because I have been there probably twenty times and ordered everything on the menu hoping to find an edible dish. About once a quarter I talk myself back into going because it is "" the neighborhood mexican restaurant"". No more. After eating there your body smells like a grease trap. When someone tells me they like the food at Mely's, I know they don't know good mexican food. Pros: kid friendly Cons: Bad food, bad drink, bad price more

Not very good 11/12/2005

I know a lot of people go here but it has to be because of location. I tried it several times and was never satisfied. The last time I went all out and got combo fajitas including shrimp. First time i had shrimp that tasted to bad to eat. more

Yummy in my tummy! 8/29/2002

Absoultely fabulous food. The best hot sauce I have ever had and I can be a big critic of the sauce. Get the chicken tacos al carbon with queso topping and then pour the red hot sauce on top and you are treating yourself to an explosion of flavor in your mouth. I think I will go tonight! Fast and easy takeout! Pros: Affordable, Nice area, Margarita's Yummy Cons: Friday long wait more

Great margaritas! 8/5/2002

Great margaritas and friendly waiters! Sometimes there can be a long wait to be seated. Pros: Margaritas, salsa, chips Cons: Waiting time more
