My husband and I frequent this restaurant especially for special occasions. The food is delicious and the experience is incredible. We usually order "" the big night out"" which i...

Worst

I went to the Melting Pot for my b-day and I wasn't terribly impressed for what we got. We spent $80 without a dessert for 2 people! You have to cook the entree yourself, which I ...

PERFECT! Great service, friendly waitress! LOVED IT! 8/25/2007

We just loved it! and would highly recommend it! The food & service was great, yeah it takes awhile, but I always like taking my time eating, then feeling rushed out the door.. We just loved it and will definitely be back! Not a great place for babies, older kids I think would love it! We heard quite a lot of babies crying, I was surprised by that, but not a big deal, we enjoyed every minute of it!! more

I f you are in a hurry, you have come to the wrong place. 8/15/2007

I have been to the melting-pot three times over the past two years. The reason it has only been three times is because of the price. Do not misunderstand me, I am not saying they are over-priced, merely out of my budget. Pros: great for dates. relaxed atmosphere, Cons: price, the parking is crappy. more

Fun Night, Great for Dates!! 7/8/2007

I've eaten here about four times here, and though i have to admitt, the service was worse with each trip, the food is yummy, the atmosphere is great. i've been on two dates here, and i didn't mind the slow service at all! the drinks are good, the cheese is great! who would have thought carrots in cheese would be good! the salads aren't good at all, but that's a minor thing. the dessert is amazing, and i've been just to sit in the bar and have chocolate fondue! (that is also a great date idea.) Pros: great location and atmosphere Cons: price and service more

Disgusting food makes my stomach hurt just thinking about it! 5/9/2007

I have to admit I was really looking forward to trying this place, but I would never go back. The cheese wasnt very good, the salad was as good as a dollar salad from Wendy's, the main course(chicken, steak, shrimp and salmon) was not anything to write home about, I mean the thought of boiling all the meat and potatoes in one little pott just doesnt sound good period. The salmon was probably the only good thing boiled everything else we basically just wasted. The waitress was not very friendly and asked her if she liked to eat here and she said I wouldn't come here on my day off if thats what you mean and that was at the beginging of the meal so after that comment we were a little taken back. We decided to go for the desert $14.00 for 2 strawberries, 4 little pieces of pineapple, 2 gross brownies, 4 large marshmellows and a little bit of choclate sauce which really wasn't enough for two people. Then we got the check $100 not including the tip for two people which we got the cheapest entree for two, I thought that was a rediculous price for the meal that probably cost the Melting Pott under $15.00 all together! I'm sure the melting Pott his making bank and this place for what you actually get and the price.I would have much rather eaten somewhere like Chili's or some where that has somewhat of flavor to the food. Pros: Nice atmosphere, alot of choices in drinks Cons: No parking, food, service, expensive more

Slow Service, Lack of availability of requested items 4/23/2007

I was responsible to arrange a dinner for 10 girlfriends to enjoy a Birthday. We unfortunately did not have a good experience at all. It started with No Mojito Mix, a server who was less than attentive 45 mins to get 1 glass of wine, ran out of my particular beer. With that said the food took way too long, we ran out of cheese fondue, had stale bread. Dessert was the only good item and we ran out of dip with several things still left to dip. Over all the lack of service and having them run out of so many items made for a frustrating evening. I would not recommend eating here with more than 4 people ever again. more

Terrible service and not so good food 4/23/2007

Ok, so we went here over the weekend for a fun birthday celebration. Luckily the celebration part was fun, because the food was not so good. The cheese was okay, but the main course was terrible. I didn't fully know what to expect for the entree when going in, and I was a bit taken aback. I understand the concept of cooking my own food, but boiling? Who likes boiled chicken? The tuna was not edible, the chicken was tasteless and the shrimp was only somewhat edible. The dessert was good, I must admit that. During the whole dinner, our waiter seemed to disappear for 20-30 minute intervals. Do you need a refill? Do you need more cheese? How about a little more chocolate since you still have fruit left and nothing to dip it in? NOPE, not a chance. The bill came out with the gratuity already included (expected for a party of 10) but we honestly didn't feel the guy deserved it! Ten minutes, 15 minutes, nearly 20 minutes pass and the waiter still hasn't returned to pick up the money so we finally take it to the manager to finalize. After speaking with the manager about our disappointment, she offers some coupons. We got a good laugh that the coupons were the $10 off that you can get online and they are only good M-Th and cannot be combined with any other offer. Don't think I will be using those coupons - anyone want them?? Pros: Dessert Cons: Terrible service; Food not worth the money more

The food was bad..the service was bad and... 4/23/2007

...they had enough mint for 3 Mojitos. Isn't there a Smiths just up the street? They don't cook your food and they certainly don't make sure that everything is copasetic during your dining experience. It would make sense for someone to be resourceful and appear with a little freakin mint. Pros: They serve liquor. Cons: They were out of mint. more

S-L-O-O-O-O-W Service 3/26/2007

I used to love the Melting P0t but the last two times I have been the service was extremely slow. Their servers read off of a script and the interaction feels very stiff and wooden. It seemed like our waiter only came to our table in 30 minute intervals so we sat waiting for drink and dipping sauce refills for quite some time. The food was tasty once it finally arrived; except for the broccoli which they served on our veggie plate was so old, it was black in parts. The dessert fondue is my favorite, but after we finished our main course we waited, and waited and waited for our waiter to return to take our dessert order. By the time he finally showed up we were so disgusted we just asked for our check and left. I was embarrassed I?d recommend going there. It was a disappointing night out and we won?t be back. Pros: Good food, different and fun Cons: slow service, over priced for what you get more

Great date restaurant 11/13/2006

A guy took me here for a date a few weeks ago. The place is awesome. The drinks are yummy, especially the Yin Yang. Coq au vin is an awesome fondue and the lobster was sooo good. The desserts were to die for too. Things didn't work out with the guy, but I found an awesome new restaurant. Pros: Awesome food, cozy atmosphere, great service Cons: need reservations, expensive more

Romantic and Delicious! 11/13/2006

I love going here on a date! First of all, the booths are incredibly private and very intimate and romantic. They are small, so you get to sit close to each other and cuddle, and the candlelight makes everything seem very special. I have tried just about everything they have to offer, and my favorites are the salads (they sell the raspberry vinaigrette in bottles, and I occasionally drive all the way downtown just to buy more, it's that good), the Coq Au Vin fondue (delicious) and for dessert, EVERYTHING, but especially, the Bailey's fondue... it's heaven and no matter how full you think you are, you will NOT be able to stop eating! In fact, if it wasn't hot fondue, you'd want to lick the bowl clean! Seriously, if you're looking to have an intimate dining experience that far exceeds your expectations, this is the place to go. more

Expensive but sooo fun 9/7/2006

As a vegetarian I wasn't overly impressed with the veggie courses. But the cheese and chocolate fondues are amazing. My meat eating friends loved their main courses. Go here for the experience - and be sure to try the yin/yang white and dark chocolate fondue. (yum!) Pros: Unique, very fun experience to share with friends Cons: Expensive, takes a lot of time to eat every course more

Bad service 8/22/2006

Overrated!!! Bad service, Had to ask for water refills twice!! more

Fabulous Romantic Date 7/11/2006

This place is incredible. The food is amazing and the service intimate. We've been to several in different states, and we just love it. It's not a cheap date, so tightwads should stay away, but its perfect for special occasions. Expect to pay $40-50 per person. Well worth the money for a special experience. Make your reservations at least 2 weeks in advance for really special nights. Pros: Ambience, Romance, Food Cons: Price more

great for desert 5/9/2006

If you have never been to a fondu place it's a nice place. A group of us went and let's just say the highlight was the bread and chocolate fondu. If you are planning on a 4 course meal be prepared to pay -- a lot. Wine list is okay but for what you pay for a drink you could buy the whole bottle for. Too loud for an intimate date. Nice going there but don't think I would go again. more

I love paying for fine dinning.......but........ 3/27/2006

NOTHING, is made from scratch. Bread for the cheese fondue, worse than day old hot dog buns from the outlet. Sauces for dipping are from the grocery store out of the bottle. Horrible. BBQ sauce is the same as McDonalds with chicken nuggets. My girlfriend had recently gone to one in Las Vegas for a bridal party event and found it exactly the same unbelievable low food quality. The event was paid for, if she had to pay herself she would have been even more upset than she was at simply having to endure such poor quality of food. You pay strictly for the ""concept"" of eating fondue and not worth such poor food quality. It would be so easy to have fresh food that there was no excuse for what is offered here. Insulting!! Pros: wine Cons: cheap low end food, store bought bread, bottled grocery sauce more

Just Relax 1/27/2006

Doing this type of dining requires you to relax. The service was good and the waiter was very helpful in teling us about the courses. The ambiance is a little loud and not the best spot for a romantic get away. Price should be of a concern. This is different and it will cost you. Parties of 6 or more, get ready for 18% gratuity on the bill. The best, i feel, would be to catch a movie or a play downtown, and then make reservations for later that night, and have a wonderful dessert and drinks before going home. Pros: Excellent desserts, Reservations must, Different food Cons: Loud, Cramped, Cost more

Lovely food, BAD service 10/11/2005

My boyfriend and I went there and had a lovely time together. It is a fun way to have food! We both love the cheese fondue and chocolate fondue, however, the main entre' fondue is not really good, the broth is too strong. The seating is cozy and romantic. The serveice is not good, really slow, we need to wait for about 15 minutes even we made the reservation. The manner of the waitress are not good either. However, we enjoy our time alone~ more

Great food, too expensive 10/5/2005

The melting pot is really great, dont get me wrong. but I was in shock when I found out how much our bill was. My husband and I were the ones cooking the meal, so why do they think its fair to charge almost $100 for a couple to eat? Our server may have turned the burner on, but we did all the work. I would have rather purchased a fondue pot for $30, and spent $50 on yummy meat, chocolate and fruit, and made my own! Then I wouldnt have felt bad about spending so much money!! BUT, the food was great, especially the chocolate. This is a place to go maybe on a very special occasion, or if you can afford to spend $100 for dinner! Pros: good food, romantic, unique Cons: expensive, expensive, expensive more

Great for Romance! 7/25/2005

My husband and I love coming here, although we can't afford it very often. The food is great because you get to cook it to your taste! We love the variety of sauces and dessert is divine. Pros: Romantic, Excellent food, An Experience Cons: Expensive more

Not the best 6/21/2005

My wife and I wanted something different and decided to try this place out. This place was expensive for us esp. for what you got out of it. We told the waiter this was our first time and we needed help deciding on what to choose, we took his recommendation and made our decision. I love cheese, but I couldnt eat the first course at all, we didnt touch it. In other restaurants they usually dont charge you if the meal is very bad. The second course was O.K. My glass was dry several times and had to wait for the waiter to fill it. Over all I feel I would have gotten more for my money somewhere else. Pros: lots of time to talk Cons: expensive more
