Melting Pot Restaurant

Last night my boyfriend surprised me with a dinner date to the Melting Pot. I have only been once prior for their chocolate fondue. We were seated at a cozy private table. The embiance of the restaurant was very romantic! I let him order the dinner and he allowed me to chose the wine. I love wine and rarely see wine lists that are comprehensive and affordable! Their list has such an amazing variety of wines for all wine drinkers. Our server was so knowledgable and based on the wines I've had and enjoyed, he picked out the perfect bottle. We drank a Duckhorn Goldeneye Pinot Noir and it was so good that we got a second bottle! We were there almost 3 hours and every course was so amazing. I just love that California salad:) It was nice to not be rushed and our server came over just enough so we felt taken care of but still had our privacy. The manager stopped by to introduce himself and thank us for choosing the restaurant for our dining experience. I had a great time! The service was A+++ and I will definitely be back with my parents when they come to visit in a few weeks!!! more

This is the second time I've come to the melting pot, my first experience leaving me with an overall excellent first impression. I was dismayed to be so disappointed this time. Considering that the customer does most of the cooking at the table, I believe that part of the allure of the restaurant is its intimate decor and most importantly the quality of waitstaff service. We were left to wait between every course for without exaggeration 15 to 20 minutes (at least), and at least 10 minutes for every request made (extra fork, glass of water etc). The only thing we didn't have to wait for was our check that was conveniently presented to us at the same time as our dessert; which conveniently enough, had been put as a surplus to our bill even though we had ordered the 4 course classic. In addition to the snail-paced service, my date and I were privy to our waitress loudly socializing with other waitstaff about topics I shall not bother to repeat. By the way, the surplus on my bill? I have written this entire complaint as I wait for her to adjust it, and I'm writing on an iPhone. more

Best place to bring anybody you are trying to impress. \r Extremely ambient atmosphere, with a knowledgeable, helpful, pleasant and friendly staff of servers who kind of put on a show for you, with table preparation of the cheese and flambeed chocolate deserts. The North Miami location showcases an extensive wine list and really interesting and different cocktails, from the strawberry basil lemoade, to a ying-yang martini (with shaved choclate!). Try the big night out, a tour of Tuscany offering 4 courses, cheese (Quattro Fromaggio) , salad (caprese), entree, and chocolate fondue (Tiramisu) included! It does Italy justice. But of course you can choose to substitute from an array of different cheeses, salads, entrees and cooking styles (oil, buillion, mojo, or coq au vin), and chocolate fondue. \r The service was excellent and staff seemed very intune and no need went unmet, the manager even made a stop to see how we were and we had nothing but the highest praise to give. \r Also a great place to celebrate and is very able to accomodate large parties.\r Cannot wait to go back.
