Whenever I want to feel I'm in a cosmopolitan locale, Grand South Grand's own Mekong Restaurant has never failed. With their disciplined and gracious multinational staff at the helm, I have always enjoyed very good food, good service, and pleasant atmosphere. The Jade Room/smoking section at the back has an unusual foreign flavor, lit darkly and housing computers for online surfing, a bar for cocktails, it's a quiet and easy atmosphere I've often enjoyed with a glass of plum wine, a newspaper, and dinner (it is, perhaps, more casual than the beautifully lit and elegant front.). I enjoy best the summer outdoor seating, the iced coffee, and traditional egg rolls or vegetarian spring rolls, lotus root salad. Another favorite, sometimes are the roast chicken sandwiches on toasted rolls or the beef stew with egg noodles (the beef is excellent and tender, the broth invigorating). Feel free to ask your wait staff to suggest appropriate condiments for the Viet Namese foods you order. I highly recommend the whole pan fried fish; it is Beautifully served, head and tail still attached, light, crispy, golden brown -- call ahead to assure availability.
Pros: Sophisticated soundtrack.
Cons: Sometimes crowded.
