I took my 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen into the Meineke of Rogers in April 2011 for an oil change and new spark plugs. I dropped the car off and picked it up later that day. In June 2011, I opened the hood to change the air filter. I immediately noticed that the engine cover had been cracked (side note ? the engine cover must be removed to replace the spark plugs). I have owned the car since new and know that the engine cover has never been removed from the car.
I returned to Meineke on Friday, June 17th and spoke to the owner, Bob Brake. Also in the conversation was the technician who worked on my car. While I was in the shop, he agreed to replace the engine cover. The shop started to get busy and he couldn?t get a representative from the parts department at the local VW dealership on the phone. I told him it would be fine for him to just call me back later that day and I left the shop.
Around 4:45 PM Friday afternoon, I called and spoke to Bob. At this point, he notified me that he spoke to the technician who worked on my car and he promised that he didn?t break it. As a result of this, he wasn?t going to replace the engine cover. In addition, he told me that he spoke to the dealership and they stated they break these engine covers all the time. However, he was 100% certain that his technician didn?t break mine, even though Bob told me multiple times that those parts have a propensity to break. I asked why he was willing to fix it when I was standing in the office but is now refusing, to which he replied that he didn?t get a chance to speak with the technician yet. Keep in mind the technician was standing with us when I brought the vehicle the first time.
I?m filing a BBB complaint against this shop. I?m extremely disappointed in the service I received and will not be returning to any Meineke shop in the future.
