Editorial review from Citysearch 12/15/2012

Decor is nice and that is about it. THE worst service I have ever had. The waitress takes an order comes back 10 minutes later and asks if we want menus, did not remember taking the order, The food is mediocre at best. OH yeah meals were served with NO silverware, had to track down a bus boy who delivered silverware by throwing all 5 place settings in the middle of the table. There were dinner plates and 12 glasses on the table and they were never removed, this was a party of 5 TERRIBLE TERRIBLE service food not so good, but the service was HORRIBLE this was on 12/14/12 more

VERY DISAPPOINTING SERVICE 1/12/2012

I was very disappointed with the service my friend and I received. In particular with ""Israel"" who acted like the customer is a bother. First, we asked for help regarding the food we were going to order, to which we got a flat ""...a kabob is a Kabob..."" Israel needs to realise we all do not belong to the same culture and may not be familiar with the food, but are willing to try different cuisines hence going to the restaurant. We had to keep sermoning for him to get our order, even though there was a total of 4 customers in the place. After waiting almost 40 minutes for 1 main course, we Inquired what was taking so long to which Israel replied "" do you want your meat cooked or raw...so wait for it to be cooked."" Shortly after, he brought the order and pushed it infront of me and stomped off, while there were so many dishes from our appetizers/mint tea all over the table. My friend and I had to clear the dishes and put them on another table to create room to eat. As for the food: chicken kabobs were overly salty and the basmati rice was over done the salad was average. I would not recommend this place!!!! more

Fantastic Lunch Buffet! 9/19/2011

A group of my co-workers and I came for their lunch buffet and belly dancing last Friday and we were more than impressed! Their buffet is pretty extensive with a couple different salads and soups. A lot of what you would order on their menu was featured in their buffet such as the hummus, falafil, spinach pies, kabobs, gyros. They had moussaka that day, which I love! Oh, and there was lamb shank! yum! We were all so happy with the choices they had and the price was amazing! We also were able to enjoy the belly dancing! Fantastic! Love the Cruise! more

Always Great- Awesome food and top service 8/17/2011

My wife and I have been going to the Mediterranean Cruise for years. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities. Every time we dine there, they never disappoint. The food is always so delicious and great. We have probably tried just about everything on their extensive menu, but I really love their shrimp Casablanca- a shrimp stir-fry with mushrooms, onions, pine nuts over rice. My wife is in love with their lamb rack and shrimp kabobs. We almost never skip a dinner there without hummos and the flamming cheese! So good. But it is Jamal and the staff that always keeps us coming. We are always treated like family. Great place all around. more

Great Place 8/9/2011

This place is Great!!! We being going here since they moved to this new location. Everyone who works there are very friendly and they always make time to stop by to talk to you and see how are you and if you need anything else on your table. more

Perfect Date Night! 8/5/2011

Came in for the first time to the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe last night. Had a Blast! My husband and I wanted to be a little more adventurous for date night and the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe seemed like the perfect choice. No regrets there! The food was great! We wanted to try a variety of their food, so the waiter suggested the supper appetizers for two. LOTS OF FOOD! Gyros, falafil, hommos, grapeleaves, the flaming cheese, spinach pies, greek salads, a parsley and mint salad. It was fabulous! We also were lucky to have caught a belly dancing show. How fun! I even got my husband to get up on stage with me and try some moves! We had the best time! more

Notice something wrong, anyone? 7/30/2011

How would you feel if you're a black person walking into a place decorated with large portraits showing the worst stereotypes of black people? Or a white person walking into a bar that shows pictures of the white people lynching a person of color? I'm sure you'd be outraged, and the place would probably not be open for long unless they change their themes. To a person from the Middle East, this cafe panders to Westerners by magnifying the worst aspects of Arab culture: belly dancing and drinking. For those who do not know, belly dancing is the Arab counterpart to strip dancing in America. Arabs consider it very humiliating and objectifying to women. So to walk into a place that makes it seem like all there is to being Arab is belly dancing and drinking is quite offensive and should be viewed that way. The reputation of Arabs in this country is suffering quite enough from stereotypes like this, and the owner should know better than to make it worse just for the sake of profits. Very disgraceful and disingenuous. The food is not that great either. Several Middle Eastern places on Central Avenue offer better tasting Middle Eastern food. more

Belly Dancing and Salsa! 7/26/2011

I tried the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe for the first time with my boyfriend on Saturday night. We live fairly close, so we decided to go have some cocktails. We walked in before 9pm and the place was packed! I felt like we were in a club downtown! After a halfhour or so, we finally got a place at the bar. We ordered some yummy cocktails from our sweet bartender and watch the belly dancing! First time for my boyfriend and I to see belly dancing! After belly dancing, they had salsa! We decided to stay around and have more cocktails and appetizers. Everything was great and so much fun! Definitely will be returning! more

Great Lunch Buffet! 7/21/2011

Just stopped in to the Mediterranean Cruise this week with some co-workers for lunch. We recently heard about their lunch buffet and thought we would try it out. We were all more than happy about making the decision to go to the Med. Cruise for lunch. It was EXCELLENT. The buffet basically serves all the classics on the menu plus a few chef specials. We each probably had three or four plates. We were stuffed, but luckily had some room for their delicious baklava. If you are looking for a great place to go for lunch, go to the Med. Cruise! The price is great and the food is amazing! more

Delicious Food, Excellent Service 7/18/2011

A true five star experience! 7/13/2011

I have been living in the Twin Cities my entire life and only recently been out to Burnsville to try the Mediterranean Cruise Cafe. Over the years, I have heard so many great things about this restaurant, but never got the chance to go and try it. I made reservations for a group of girls and I last month on a Saturday night. First of all, the establishment from the outside is just AMAZING! When we walked in, we were all in awe. I don't think I have seen a restaurant so beautiful! The place was packed. We had reservations at 7pm and we were seated around 7:15pm. Our table was close to the belly dancing stage, so we had a great view of the shows. From then on, the night was perfect. Our server was a young gentleman that I believe was related to the owner of the place. Since we were all not very familiar with Mediterranean food, he guided us through the menu. He ordered us a variety of food for the table, so we could all try different items off the menu. We were all blown away by the food! So delicious! I have had hummus before many times, but this place makes the best hummus I've ever tried! We had gyros, the flaming cheese, Greek salads, kabobs, lamb rack, Mediterranean stir fry more

One of a Kind! 7/11/2011

I am a huge fan of the Med. Cruise! I work nearby, so my co-workers and I stop in quite often. We love the lunch buffets! Probably one of the best buffets I have been to around town! They offer a variety of food- hummus, falafel, salads, soups, kabobs and so much more! I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates good quality food and exceptional service! more

Great restaurant but.... 7/4/2011

Love, love the food but hate, hate, hate the belly dancers coming to the tables after performing begging for tips. If we want to tip them or talk to them we will go up and do so. We avoid going there as do some friends nights that they are performing. Other than that, we love the ambiance and again the food!!! more

Best Mediterreanan Food in Town! 6/15/2011

I have been going to the Mediterranean Cruise for the past ten years and every time I eat there, it only gets better! The food is outstanding- from the fatoush salad, the kabobs, the gyros, the stir fry- all so delicious! Jamal and his staff do an amazing job! I feel apart of the family every time I dine at this wonderful establishment. I recommend the Mediterranean Cruise to anyone who simply wants great food, a beautiful atmosphere and friendly service! more

The best meal & best time of your life - everytime! 6/1/2011

The Mediterranean Cruise has the best food - fresh! Delicious! Unbelievable layers of flavor! You will crave these tastes, and return again and again! The lunch buffet is a great way to sample dishes that will become favorites! The chicken couscous is heavenly, so are the stir frys and the moussaka - even the salads are great! And I consistently have the best time - the staff - every ONE of them care that you are there, and treat you with excellent service - like you are family! The atmosphere is so warm - conducive to a really great time! A great place for business meetings, too! more

A Great Place for Family and Business Events 4/2/2010

We had an event and we have a very delicious buffet service delivered by a nice clean-dressed chef. We had very nice service who was very attentive to all the guests needs. We never ran out of wine in our glasses and if asked for anything they were right there in a timely manner. They kept us entertained and surprised the group I was with with a beautiful belly dance who encouraged the ladies at our party to all get up and dance with her. Everyone called me the next day telling me what such great time they had and how great the service was and how fun experience they had at this party. I strongly recommend anyone who has a business or family event to check into Mediterranean Cafe. I was very impressed as I have a lot of experience in restaurants and events overseas and this place compares with any high class restaurant I have been. But the big surprise for me, was when I saw the check and saw how affordable the tab was for the type of service that was received. Thanks for a great time to the staff and owners of this beautiful family-run restaurant. Pros: service, cooks, bar tenders and owners Cons: the time flys in this place more

For the Best Time and Food in Town 4/2/2010

Mediterranean Cruise Cafe hosted a family members birthday party Wednesday night. They reserved a whole section in the party room and served an excellent buffet. The management and staff were very accommodating and acted very professional throughout the whole planning period and event. They even went as far to surprise our party with a beautiful exhibition of belly dancers, who animated the whole party and entertained our guests. Everything served, from chicken and shrimp kabobs to gyros and hummus, to rice and greek salad was fresh and delicious. We really appreciate how the owners and staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and have a good time. I would recommend this restaurant for any event or just for a night out to anyone who is in the mood for a good time. Pros: great atmosphere, great service Cons: They close at 2am more

Best Middle Eastern Restaurant in the TC! 3/30/2010

I recently held my rehersal dinner at the MCC. My hubby and I have been going to the MCC for almost ten years now and I can honestly say we have never been disappointed. Pros: Excellent food, service and entertainment! more

MCC = Good food Bad service 3/8/2010

I love the food and atmosphere at the MCC and I have eaten here with my wife and a large group. If you get the short old guy waiting on you beware he is hopeless and tip hungry. If you go for lunch you will wait for the staff to move fro the tv at the end of the bar. Please MCC hire some decent wait staff Pros: Great Food and atmosphere Cons: Service varies wildly from great to appalling more

Fantastic Experience! 2/3/2010

My husband and I were skeptical after reading some mixed reviews on the Mediterranean Cruise, but decided to take a chance and try it for the first time. Many of my co-workers have been going there for years and have always recommended it to us. Pros: Great food and entertainment! Cons: You must make reservations on the weekends! more
