This place is mostly a grocery store, they do have a bakery in the back that does mostly breads, small sweets that they package and sell in the store and they also do cakes by ord...

Worst

I bought a wonderful sandwich at this Bakery. When I chose to purchase a few grocery items the ringer slipped some old marzapan in my bag and charged me for it. A few moments late...

just the best 2/26/2010

They have the best selection of spices, oils, olives, vinegars, middle eastern pastries, mmmm. you really must see it for yourself. One of their customer explained to me how to make my own hummos and baba ganoush - and Faol. and the people are just awesome. so nice and welcoming. I've shopped there for years and in my experience, if the managers knew of the event above, the people would be fired. these are folks with good products, good food and integrity. more

food yes, service no 2/23/2010

I ordered a tray of appetizers to go, specifically asked if they could be heated, and they assured me it would not be a problem. When I arrived, the apps were ice cold, and so was their attitude. They claimed they never heated things up for customers. So I heated them myself and the guests like them fine. But why deliberately aggrivate customers by telling them you'll do something you won't? more

Truly wonderful food and service 1/3/2010

I have to agree with the previous review. I have been going to the Med Bakery since I was a child and have always loved the food. In addition, the people who work there are welcoming, warm and very generous. I have often been the only non-Middle Eastern customer in the place and have always been greeted like a valued guest. It is really unfortunate to spend time talking about the service, however, when the food is so amazing. I now live in Michigan, but never miss the opportunity to stop by and pick up my favorite "comfort food" when I'm in town. Everything there is wonderful, but the savory baked goods and the hummus and fresh pita are what I order each and every time. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed! more

Review Sounds Fishy, Great Place 12/29/2009

I know all of the clerks and a few of the owners. There's something funny about that review. There's no way that two of these people conspired to do something dishonest. And something that petty? It doesn't add up. My sense is that the reviewer is dishonest and malicious, but we are not learning why. Love the fresh hummus best, and the tabouleh, babaganouj, stuffed grape leaves, and freshly-baked whole wheat pita. I've been eating this stuff in different cities for almost 20 years, and I used to live in Gramercy Park, walking distance to the middle eastern restaurants along Lex in the 30s. I now live near this store and couldn't believe my luck when I discovered it. This place is still the best of all of them. more
